is big k.r.i.t one of the g.o.a.t (serious questions)

KRIT makes some powerful music but since it isn't immediately game changing, he gotta marinate
for a min. Same for Kendrick. Them 2 def got next, but their predecessors set the bar a lil high.

I've had Return of 4eva on my phone and haven't wanted to come back to it since I gave it the introductory spins...(notice the plural)

King in the other hand has music that makes me come back and listen.

I'm not replying to the thread question, just the statement someone made saying King
As far as the thread question it's debatable.

I agree with this.  To be considered the GOAT you really have to change the game and have mainstream success as well as being respected by the more hardcore hip-hop heads.

nah kendrick's $*$* is potent... crazy sound... he just has to get heard by more people... that _ music is crazy tho

your doing yourself such a disservice

his music is meant to be played with SUBWOOFERS.. no if ands or buts about it, your not hearing everything correctly

plain and simple

starts really around 0:51 sec, listen to that damn trunk rattle like 2 midgets in the back seat rasslin'

this dude makes ALL of his own beats too, i mean c'mon, i can only think of a few names like pimp c, daz, warren g, kanye west with that much talent

GOAT may be a stretch, but dude has three CLASSIC, yes CLASSIC mixtapes. And KRIT>J. Cole. Can't even compare homie to Jeezy. Totally different lane. Dude is going to be a problem. Best out of the south at the moment.

What is somebody supposed to sound like who is influenced by those type of artists? He's still making very good music true to himself. You said he needs to
"true something different", when that's exactly he's doing. If you look at rap/hip hop as a whole, everybody is making overly sensitive cornball cry-me-a-river music.

He's basically going left-field, just like Common coming in in the middle of the gangsta/g-funk wave, and 50 coming out in the middle of a bunch of melodic/harmomizing

stuff (even though 50 eventually did the same).

you arent supposed to sound exactly like your influences
Maybe you should try to sound more like your influences--prolly will make your music more listenable.  #justsayin
As far as dude being one of the Greatest of ALL TIME....naw, not now.  He has all the tools to get there though, IMO.

It's early but the idea isn't outrageous at all.

Imagine if Lupe dropped Food & Liquor, The Cool, and Lasers with only a year in between each release, and in stead of Lasers being a total frisbee, it was Food & Liquor Part 2.

That's exactly what K.R.I.T. has done the last three years and he's given his music away for free without any backing or a cosign until very recently.

People have been seriously mentioning Lu in the GOAT discussion for years (not like the single greatest but around top 10 or so, which I assume this thread is about).

Obviously K.R.I.T. isn't Lupe lyrically but Lupe doesn't craft every single one of his own beats and straight annihilate them 95% of the time.

He's not there yet for me but he's well on his way.

Krit might not be the goat to everybody...but for me he may be my favorite artist of all time...he brings something to the table that others don't...like another dude said if I had a twin brother that was a rapper it would be Krit...he speaks about stuff I want to hear...he stays humble and speaks about the world and really puts his heart in it...but then on other tracks he's all about the strippers and the green and liquor lol...its like the perfect mix of how I live my life...focused on the task at hand but still enjoying myself to the fullest...

I think the people that love Krits music the way I do feel the same as me (and Krit)...and to say he sounds just like old southern heads is kind of a reach...I mean he is influenced by them but he's a little depper...the only thing that sounds similar is the southern accent and the southern slang...but then again I've always been on that south !$*+ ...southern music is the best imo...that slowed down sound is something else...

So to answer Op's question...imo...hell yea bruh

man some of yall are out of line.

We talking about mixtapes... not albums... mixtapes.

Ya'll are really pushing the basis of the word classic in Hiphop, Sure he's had great tapes but how can you consider it a classic if simply put it has no effect on hiphop

There are way too many people in hiphop who have yet to even here a verse from dude to call him a Goat period. Its absurd and disrespectful to those who have put out classic material for damn near a decade to be put in the place of a +!@%# who's never even dropped an album. There is so much trash rap out these days that dudes are THIRSTY to crown the next great, let it happen naturally and stop overating every project. NO all three of his mixtapes aren't classic its ok to say otherwise

Son is nice but ya'll out here looking like ya'll tryin to get a dipset chain

@ the GOAT talk. Sure his mixtapes are good, but there is no replay value at all in them.

He's definitely lookin' like he's gonna have an above average career with at least one classic album.
KRIT is really good and talented.
