Official Guitar Players Thread vol. Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

I'm a super beginner. I used to take guitar class in high school but now I have a guitar of my own almost all I learned flew out the window. I started picking it up again trying to learn a couple of songs. Even bought a little capo haha.

Lets say less than 400.

Thanks for the site tips. I'll check those out.

mexican made fender strat. Or an ibenez of your choice would be the way to go. You can get an epiphone les paul as well those look nice but i suggest you try them each before you buy them. I had a mexican made fender strat as my first. its a brown one with a white pickguard that i posted in the guitar heads thread. It got the job down and i got it for 400

Thank you, sir. And thank you Hendrix. Might check out eBay when I get my next paycheck.

Check craigslist first and then compare the price with eBay. I got an American Strat for $400 on CL once.

It was in fact a beauty.

Don't get an Ibanez though ... you'll regret it in the long run. I had one for a while and it was a wanna be only metal piece of ugh.

I just learned the 3 mini solos and intro to Gravity by John Mayer. Love that song.

Also, I one day want to be good enough to play something like this on my acoustic.

( I don't know why, but the video I linked is in the quote and it won't come out.

Passion is ridiculous.

I never knew about Vocaroo! Let's do this.

Just recorded myself playing my version of John Mayers Gravity Intro then his solos that he has going on. Still gotta work out some kinks. Enjoy. Will be posting some of my acoustic too.

Thanks man, I learned those parts maybe half today and half yesterday? Yeah it'd be cool if some of us that come into this thread could make a collab one day.

Please do. I'm gonna post my version of She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5 on here in a little bit. (Acoustic Guitar only) Letting my fingers rest for a minute, I've been playing all day and week.

Edit: i decided to use my acoustic to do the ending on this song i did for senior recital a few years ago called "angelina" by tommy emmanuel, The ending is about 95% tap harmonics and 5% actual notes at the very end

hey, im a beginner/intermediate player...been messing around with my acoustic casually since '04 now. im a big mayer fan, but my small hands cannot handle his style haha. nowadays i just play/practice a lot of folk rock or indie rock, lot of fingerpicking songs (lindsey buckingham is a guitar hero of mine). i can play a pretty good "landslide" and "i will follow you into the dark" since both songs pretty much have the same pluck patterning, and the hard part was getting the chords down. but i my goal is to learn this:

(couldnt find the real version, and ive tried this lesson but i have a lot of trouble fretting and speeding it up to the correct tempo)

one of these days...

Voice Recorder >>One of the official backing tracks for guitar center's battle of the blues. Im practicing some riffs but im probably gonna phase it out more and clean it up.
Edit: i just noticed u cant hear ##+% till the end

i like this vid:

i need an electric bad...i cant make a classical guitar cry like that lol

I've literally been listening to that performance of Ain't No Sunshine by him for the past couple of days nonstop. Simply amazing.
Been practicing on my electric more than usual for a few days so now I have a blister on my middle finger. Will be posting some more stuff when it peels and calluses.

BTW Adrian, those recordings you posted are sick

those harmonics

ya adrian you are clearly appreciating the art of notes way further than our level right now lol
i hope my ears become sharper so i can be able to play like that soon. i can never find the patience to decipher music that thoroughly

OT youtube:

she isnt a magician but shes 100x better than me lol

i have a soft spot for girls who can play with soul

i wouldnt care if shes ugly...but she aint......

I don't mean to beat a dead John Mayer horse, but this chick goes bananas on this solo. I don't think i could play this with a tab in front of me.
pimp.gif

Was NOT expecting that.

I've always wanted to learn how to play acoustic guitar and after watching Passion and Gabe Bondoc I really wanted to play. I picked up a couple songs by watching videos, but I want to be able to read music and eventually be able to play by ear.

skip to 1:50 for the song

Started playing since Dec 2010...

Played for about 6-7 months and made some really good progess.

Unfortunately, after i landed a job..i haven't really played in about 8-9 months.

All my hard-earned calluses are now gone!

^ that first vid is myles jasnowski.

Ive talked to him before. He is a very chill guy. Hes out doing his own thing and is going to berklee on a full time scholarship. Yall should check the rest of his vids out
