Career highlights and awards

I was having this dicussion the other day with a friend, i say just because of his body of work, and he lead the greatest show on turf, granted we dunno if anyone couldve stepped in and did but he did push the issue a few years later with the Cardinals

i say yes, not a 1st ballot, but i think down the line

I think he is.

Don't see how his candidacy is laughable either.

My sig from when he retired:

2x NFL MVP ----- Super Bowl XXXIV MVP ----- 5x Pro Bowl Selection ----- 100 TD passes on two different teams ----- 93.7 career QB rating

104.6 playoff QB rating ----- 414, 377 and 365 yards passing in Super Bowls ----- 66.5% completion percentage during the playoffs

30,000 yards in 114 games ----- 260.4 career YPG

Well since Kurt Warner argued that Eli Manning wouldn't deserve to be a HOF'er if he retired today, my gut would tell me...
No, he should not.

Never understood why he said that. Dug himself a hole.

Getting the SBMVP is not a ticket into the Hall. To answer your question, there are plenty of players to win the award that are not in the Hall of Fame:

Terrell Davis
Desmond Howard
Larry Brown
Mark Rypien
Ottis Anderson
Doug Williams
Phil Simms
Jim Plunkett
Harvey Martin
Jake Scott
Chuck Howley

There are also a group of players who won the award, are either playing still or not yet eligible to make the Hall, who probably wont make it in:

Santonio Holmes
Hines Ward (questionable)
Deion Branch
Dexter Jackson

In summary, there are plenty of players who won the SBMVP that wont be Hall of Famers.

Whats a joke? Eli Manning has Two Super Bowl MVP's. Warner has One. We partially base these things off championships, correct?
Forget Kurt Warner, he should not be a first ballot HOF'er for making a statement like that. Was his career that much greater? No.

Its funny cause some of these names were brought up too, alot of people saying TD should get in, i dont and considering the success denver had while plugging any RB into their system, and i honestly think Hines will get it.

Was asking it literally, thanks for answering. I know in the NBA it's damn near impossible most times, but was curious about the NFL.

He'll get in, but not first ballot. Didn't perform at a high level for enough seasons. He had about five seasons where he was good to great, which isn't enough for a first-ballot QB.

I dont think he should get in.

Because real talk, he was only nice for 3 seasons....1999,2001 and 2009 although he made the Pro Bowl in 2000.

He's a fringe HOFer becase he didnt start until 28 years old and also had a 5-season gap in the middle of his career where he fell completely off.

But we have to look at it realistically and realize he is a golden boy QB who was beyond nice to the media and he is going to get in hook line and sinker. And it will likely be first ballot to boot.

I've said this before but if you are a QB who gets voted into the HOF you get in first ballot almost every time, the voters do not mess around with that position.
