Dont Laugh, But is Kurt Warner an HoFer?

Ok, hold on a minute.

First, let me say I am a Kurt guy, love the dude, some great moments.  Did WORK in the playoffs.

But wait.

Dude had SIX seasons.  I'll say that again, SIX.  Half a decade.

First ballot?

32K yards, 200 TD's, late 20's type ranks right here which will become 30's here in a couple years as others pass him by.

Sooooooooo, all those dudes that yell and scream that Ben and Eli shouldn't get in, they don't have enough on their resume, now want to say that Kurt is indeed a first ballot guy, with his resume?
nerd.gif
  Cuz what, postseason success?  Oh?
nerd.gif

Which one is it gentlemen?

If winning 2 MVP's is the simple answer, and his total of 4 other years is just cool, ok.  Someone like Cam only need be elite 5 more years and he gets that first ballot thing locked up then.

One of the best to ever play ?! O man

Being injury prone is part of the equation. I hate when ppl use injuries for lack of performace..it's part of someones athletic ability to be able to stay healthy. Doesn't matter if you're deadly accurate if you can't stay on the field. It's just a part of the reason why he shouldn't be a first ballot HOF'er and definitely shouldnt be even close to the conversation of GOAT quarterbacks.

Look at Kurt's career numbers. Really really look at them and tell me hes one of the GOATs. It's just not true

The idea that people think it's laughable to question Kurt's HOF credentials is laughable in itself.

Ok smart guy

Everything I said was absolutely true

You're trying way too hard to sound like you know what you're talking about

One of the best to ever do it? Accuracy matched by only a few? You're acting like you've seen every single one of this dude's games.

There are 5 or so active QBs in the NFL right now that are better than Kurt, and will retire having had a better career than Kurt. So how can he be one of the GOATs?

You can respond or you can not choose to waste precious keystrokes. Up to you

I love how you always bring up postseason success.  Like I have echoed to you many times, it takes more than JUST team oriented postseason success to be considered a Hall of Famer.  In Ben's case, his list of regular season personal achievements is non-existent.  Just like his postseason personal awards list is.

Kurt Warner on the other hand, not only has his team oriented postseason success, but he also has a Superbowl MVP, as well as a very good group of regular season personal achievements to add to it.  He should get in, but not necessarily a first ballot.

CP you seem to be a very smart person.  I dont understand why this is such a difficult concept for you to get.  People have tried to explain it to you so many times over the course of a few different years.  How you fail to get the point is beyond me.

Here, let me do something for all of you... because we've got some remedial folks in here. I've prepared a list of multiple-time MVP winners who weren't selected first ballot into the NFL Hall of Fame (and just so you know, the only ones left to be inducted are Brett Favre, Kurt Warner, Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady):

Oh.

I'll be bumping this thread in a few years. See y'all then.

The conversation isn't really whether or not he will get in anymore as a first ballot, we all know he will but thanks for that informative post. It's whether or not he deserves to be in. If you think his two time MVP awards while he was surrounded by the best offense in the history of the NFL automatically puts him in then that's your opinion
laugh.gif
I just can't look past all the years he was absolutely terrible . Tim Tebow type numbers .

Kurt can thank Marshall and Co. for his eventual HOF bid.

the seasons that Warner played like $$@@ was cause he was hurt

 Some of these responses

He was only great for 3 seasons(1999,2001, 2008) and really good for another 2 seasons (2000, 2009) and I guess we can give him 2007 as a good season.

Theres no HOF quarterback with such an short time period of being elite.

Going on yall criteria, basically all Aaron Rodgers has to do is win an MVP and get to the Super Bowl and then he shut it down for rest of his career and hes a HOF?

Heck Rich Gannon won an MVP has the same amount of All-Pro and Pro Bowl selections!

Thank you. I really didn't know Kurt Warner was this gassed on NT. Dude was the definition of mediocre, at best, for like six years straight
laugh.gif

But he's a unanimous first ballot HOF'er?

Dude is basically a saint in my city.

Still.

But he's not first ballot.

The body of work is not extensive enough. In my opinion.

However, he IS a hall of famer. For sure. He accomplished so much in a very limited window.

I know only wins count, but think how close he was to being a 3 time Super Bowl Champion/Super Bowl MVP.

Also:

Most Yards Gained, Game (Super Bowl)

1) 414Kurt Warner, St. Louis vs. Tennessee, XXXIV
2) 377Kurt Warner, Arizona vs. Pittsburgh, XLIII
3) 365Kurt Warner, St. Louis vs. New England, XXXVI

Just quoting this since we have people talking about Rich Gannon and crap in here.

Rich Gannon is not a multiple-time MVP, thus, your argument is invalid.

Carry on.

Dude took the Rams and the Cardinals to the Super Bowl. That alone should be enough credentials to get in.

And for people who said he's been inconsistent, please. That can apply to lots of other players in the Hall. Just one example: Marcus Allen never rushed for another 1,000 yard season after 3 straight, but he never gets scrutinized for that.

the only reason marcus Allen didnt get a grand those years was Al Davis.
Marcus Allen had a well known major beef with Al, and Al would not allow the coaches to use him

marcus put up 800+ yards in his 14th and 15th years in the League. RIDICULOUS!

I know this gonna sound like a hater but he's also a yard away from being a 3 time Super Bowl loser too

So lets not talk about almosts

As a 49er fan, I've always hated him when he was kicking our aces with the Rams
laugh.gif
but what he did with the Cardinals and resurrecting his career got my respect. I say yes, he's a HOFer.

Lmao said basically the same thing. Great minds think alike.

Dude just said Warner is one of the greatest....I can literally name 15 QBs better of the top of my head and maybe 20+ with some thinking.

Just looked it up, the last modern-era quarterback to be elected to the HOF on anything other than the first ballot was Bob Griese......24 years ago.

If Kurt gets in the odds say it's gonna be right away even if first ballot is not deserving (to some).

Although in today's HOF voting there is a bit of back log going on right now. Some names up for ballot next year: Kurt Warner, Junior Seau, Orlando Pace, Marvin Harrison, Tony Dungy, Morten Anderson, Jerome Bettis, Tim Brown, Kevin Greene, Charles Haley, John Lynch, Will Shields.
