When I first saw the breds and the cannons I knew the shoe would be fire but to this day think both colorways are horrid. But if these didn't have brons backing what percent of sales drop off would you see. Brons I say less then 30 percent. Kobes I say more then 80 percent. Put the "team shoe" label on both and lets say the elites are the base model.
 
The shoe sold the shoe. The color combinations and "theme" names were a big selling point for people.
 
no idea why these are selling so tough. imo they dont look better than the 8's. seems like the sprites opened to door for loud shoes and they took it and ran with it. these color combos would not be selling out on any other shoe. im convinced they just arent making many pairs. any official numbers on how many are released per colorway?
 
It goes hand in hand, his face is associated with the entire line, he is a brand and people are drawn to them. Shoe looks good, players looks well, add "limited" releases...people eat it up, simple marketing strategy
 
LeBron "made" the shoe...early in the LeBron IX thread, many ppl stated that if it wasn't for LBJ's name this would be another Nike sneaker...not a true sig....

and look at those lows...their horrid...well imo....but i think if they didn't tag lebron, it would be hittin the sales rack asap

i think LBJ's appeal to more of the casual wearer where Kobe's appeal to more bball (Don't get it twisted, kobes can be worn casually)
 
I cant stand Lebron.... I have 4 pairs with one on the way.
 
SHOE sold the SHOE flatout.

truthfully if it wasnt for the colorways I dont think the shoe would have sold at all, would have sat well into the clearance racks. And this was a well known fact when the first pics where released, people were quoting this as "strictly a performance shoe". Nike realized this and gave us the colorways we all wanted. The 9 was the first lebron ive bought, and it was because the colors where exactly what I wanted.
 
LeBron was probably a lot more popular around the time of the III, IV, and V and those are probably the WORST selling shoes of the line. You can see where I stand.
 
Jman is right..the colorways sold the shoe...with the exception of the Black/red, Xmas, and BB..he's yet to win the rest in games (I'm not sure about the freegums)

The reality is that for the better part of the season Bron has strictly worn PE's NOT available to the public....you can't make the argument that his kicks are popular because of him...we haven't even seen him rock them...nor can you get a pair that he DOES rock (unless your LiLPenny)...

MJ rocked the Concords...damn...had to have them....Bron rocks kicks I could kinda care less...it hard to knock that the Cannons, MN, Chinas even the Mangos are not well put together colorways...that's what's driving the popularity....
 
Combination of both. It has more to do with the overall increase in the hype of the "sneakergame" as a whole more than anything if you ask me.
 
South beach 8 sold this shoe LOL....the look of the shoe on the foot is nice no matter what color to me.

With Kobes... I think his performance on the court give's ppl an idea on how well the shoes perform and also when the general public tries them on, the comfort leads to a sale... 

Lebron shoes are now looked at as "oh those are gonna look dope with jeans" type shoes...

while ppl are saying "oh you know the Kobes are gonna perform well on the court"comments...

its a combo of both... i mean would all of jordans shoes sell out if it wsasnt for him, his logo, and the history behind shoes... ppl buy them bc they arent just a shoe, they represent something... thast why we wear the brands and buy the stuff we do

Truth. Lebron is the most hyped athlete ever. Had the 9 not been tagged Lebron sig most colorways would be on discount below $100 within first month of release

All of this is true, but like i said the tag is important bc it represent something, Lebron in this case. That's why we want it. At the same time, would everyone be buying up Lebrons shoes if he was with adidas and drose was with nike. Seriously just imagine if they swapped brands and sig shoes, I bet the sales on the shoes would still be close to the same, nikes would sell out and adidas would sit. Its a balance bewteen design and what they represent. Just my opinion though. I think Kobe is the best player in the NBA and would buy all of his shoes if they looked better. I think his designs with the exception of the Nike Kobe 1 is just weak.
