Nike has BANNED midnight releases for retailers effective immediately among other rules regarding releases.

(Nike also indicated in memo to retailers that many had questions how to properly handle big releases)

When the other rules become present I will add Updates.

What do ya think about this??? Looks like Nike wants people to camp over night in my opinion.

UPDATE #1

Pre-Selling, Reserving and taking Pre-Orders has also been BANNED.

                                                                                                                                UPDATE #2

The BAN on midnight releases is for INSTORE releases.

                                                                                                                                UPDATE #3

Nike has suggested Raffle & Lottery systems for highly anticipated releases for stores who are not sure how to handle.

UPDATE #4

Nike just stated "Release policy changes were made in part for Consumer, Employee, and Public Safety among other concerns".

So they're doing afternoon releases like the Texas KD4 and Kobe VII Aces? Not gonna be good for myself since HOH and Niketowns are more than 30 minutes away. Unless they are releasing more of the limited stuff at other retailers.

Don't like the pre-order move.

The midnight release move in my eyes is pointless, people will still lineup and madness will continue to happen. The problem is being organized from release strategy, to staffing, to security.

This is good news.
At least online we know a set time a release will be up other then a random time slot.

Make it on Wednesdays like it used to be! At least that would cut down on the kids camping out for Saturday releases

if the midnight releases for instores is no more.. more people will be online at midnight trying to secure their pair..
hmm..

yeah true but it might be the opposite as well... people might not want to risk striking out and all camp out in hoards.... or even worse all the people that stuckout at 12:01 all start heading to the mall and running to line up all crazy like animals lmao

what's the difference between a midnight release and a morning release? Same stupidity will happen just a different time

if they really wanted to fix this then they'd over produce their pairs, leaving everybody happy ....they created this problem.

I personally like midnight releases as long as the store handles the traffic correctly. That's a shame!

There is a much higher chance of someone getting robbed or jumped for their shoes when it's dark out.

Releasing in the morning when there is more security and it's lighter outside with more people around actually is much safer, although most people will be against it.

I dont get the pre-order deal, that would be the safest way to do it BY FAR..... Look at Canada. Nike just doesnt want to do it because it cuts down the hype

Exactly.

The midnight banning helps a lot IMO. Mad dudes was gettin robbed and %!# ..... even though it can still happen in broad day but it's a lot safer.

If your going to get robbed your going to get robbed. Has to do with no security.
Don't matter what time of day it is if there is no one there to stop me then why wouldn't I rob you???

What Nike needs to do is work out some sort of pre-order system with retailers. Customers pre-order shoes months in advance and production numbers are adjusted accordingly.

I like this idea.
I'm older now, so I would rather cop online anyway.  But if it is ABSOLUTELY necessary to camp, it would be cool to either have a pre-order option and/or raffle system.  I don't need to be involved in any craziness.
