Did you at least get your shoes?

I like it. Gives everybody a chance and we don't have to deal with the chaos in person.

Thank you.

much better than the lottery system at least. if only colorado still had a niketown

It's gonna create more chaos causing even more people to sign up for twitter, making online releases impossible and even more exposure/reminders to these release dates. Plus it creates no opportunities for anyone who doesnt live near a Niketown basically.

That's what I was thinking. It's pretty much like the NDC/Eastbay lottery on midnight releases.

I.D.?... What about for those who doesn't have a twitter acct.?... like me

What's your point? You have to create a twitter account, just like you have to create an account to buy sneakers online. Big deal. Millions have a twitter account, and twitter is the easiest way to broadcast to the masses, while not putting strain on Nike's already pathetic systems.

While this doesn't curb the problem given that we're only talking about 24 stores in 12 states, eliminating midnight releases and going to this system will provide relief to those in densely populated urban areas (where the highest number of social media users reside), and set a standard for non-Nike retailers to follow suit. Nike was the only one who could initiate some change, and we will see this ripple across the industry in the months to come. It will curb the camping (no longer allowed), and make people more aware of their behavior, while having an impact on reseller scum who have no real income outside of gouging on sneakers. More hype? Not even possible, but way to be part of the problem!

I get your point, But....
Not "everyone" has the privilege to create a twitter acct., sure I can create one just for the sake of this... What time will they start sending out DM? 12:00 AM on release night?
Tell me if waiting for this "DM" is it "Direct Message"? doesn't make you antsy, and let's just say once you got the DM, what if they don't have your size?... whtat's gonna happen then?

Yes, My fellow NTer more Hype... In the end people will find ways to hype up on just about anything... just wait and see..

And I'm no part of the problem, If I miss a release or sneaker I just move on and not complain...

Just like most of NTers here, me too have a job and to be honest is getting old for campouts, but you gotta do what you gotta do to get the sneakers...

In my opinion, yes every problem has a solution, but we'll soon find out if this DM is the solution or a problem...

This. I hope they eventually open one because HOH isn't enough.

Yeah majority of the folks who don't live close to a Niketown like myself you're pretty much screwed. Driving 2+ hrs to Niketown Chicago is a nightmare especially if it was a major release.

Should it really be this difficult to purchase a $160 + pair of shoes? Just produce more so everyone who wants one can purchase a pair. If there is enough to go around, resellers will eventually go out of business. Its not like nike is losing money even if the left over shoes are sold at discounted rates.

Time to evolve, folks.

Niketown Seattle has been doing this with hot releases for almost a year, and it's gone fine.

Seems like the only people this will truly negatively impact are resellers (along with their camping family members) and the less tech savvy.  But if you can comprehend and use Facebook, then creating a Twitter account and following the Niketown in or near your city shouldn't be too difficult.

Maybe we just "get it" here in the 206

Lol, I agree. It's definitely time to evolve and get w/ the times. Social Media is a monster, and I'm impressed to see Niketown utilize the tool in this way. The Twitter RSVP and/or in-store wristband (that I found out about through Facebook) definitely played a major role in me securing my Galaxy Lebrons, and a few other "hot" releases w/n the past 6 months. Personally, I prefer to shop at Niketown vs. Footlocker or a tier 0 boutique when it comes to releases like these.

Word. Everyone's a "sneakerhead" now in Houston.
If anything, all three of us could roll to Dallas together if we get confirmations.

If you don't live near a Nikestore, you'll get your shoes the same way you always have as this new policy doesn't really apply to you (us). Seems like people are under the impression that you have to have a twitter account to have access to hot releases and that's not the case.

Only 20 min? man so many people would love to only have to drive that....me included.
I know what it must seem like to those not from the area, but trust me, getting into NikeTown Boston is a tremendous pain in the rear end.  I'm about 15-20 minutes outside of Boston, but to actually get into NT, and park, and all that goes into it?  It's a total of near an hour of time (and much more in pure aggravation).

Probably like NTSF as well. Parking is not ideal any day of the week. I live 45 mins away, you guys have it better than me being it's 20 mins away.

there needs to be a niketown in the DMV area, but that might be too hectic just like the HOH in PG county

im not sure whats going on here. nikenyc tweeted around 8pm that the RSVP for the jordan xii would start on 4/19. well, its 4/19 now so i'm not sure when the ACTUAL RSVP starts. its ******ed. you can't DM them anyway, they have to be following you. what the hell is going on?

THEY ARE VERIFIED, THEY DON'T NEED TO FOLLOW YOU FOR YOU TO BE ABLE TO DM THEM.

ALSO, WHEN THEY SAY 4/19 THAT MEANS AT ANY TIME DURING THAT DAY THE RSVP WILL POP UP. SO PRETTY MUCH THEY'VE TAKEN THE CAMPING AWAY FROM THEIR STORES AND MOVED IT TO ONLINE CAMPING....

on some realness, i cant DM them. its greyed out.

Exactly. 4/19 means at any random time on 4/19 and you have to DM them back within an hour of the RSVP tweet.
