NIKE VOUCHER REJECTION LETTER

@Eveezy10

HOW MANY TIMES IN THE PAST 12MONTHS DID YOU SEND THEM BACK??

JUST CURIOUS.

I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS SINCE '96 AND BACK THEN WE USED TO GO TO NTNY TRADE IN SOME BEAT UP JORDANS OR AIR MAX AND THEY WOULD GIVE US THE NEWEST MODEL @ THE STORE. SO IF MY 10'S WERE TRASHED I WAS ABLT TO GO TO NTNY AND GET 11'S LIKE IT WAS NUTTIN. BUT THEN IN 97 THEY WENT TO THE PHONE PROCESS WERE YOU CALL AN 800# THEY GIVE U A # AND YOU MAIL THEM OUT THEN THEY WOULD MAIL YOU A NEW SHOE. THEN I THINK IN 00' THE VOUCHER PROCESS CAME. 1ST IT WAS 3 SHOES PER YES NOW ITS DOWN TO 2. HOPEFULLY IT DONT GO DOWN TO 1 OR MAYBE NEVER.

^^^^^ Speaking as a person that formally worked in retail
I HATED customers like you. Always tryin to get over and get new stuff for nothing.

We actually do dissect shoes to determine if they were were used for their intended purpose.  For example, if a running shoe, which is obviously intended for linear movement, is returned because of a separation of the upper and midsole due to lateral stress during court sports, that doesn't justify a voucher.

I haven't told this story in a while, but when I was a NIKE Specialist at a sporting goods store, a guy was returning a pair of Air Max Uptempo.  The air bag was DESTROYED and he wanted to exchange them for the new Air Jordans that had released that morning.  I took the shoes out of the box to examine them and the steak knife he had used to slash the air bag was STILL IN THE BOX.

On another Air Jordan release date, a couple showed up before we opened to exchange some shoes.  They explained that they had bought the shoes and were given the wrong size.  Inside the box were a kids left shoe and a mens left shoe WITH ANOTHER STORE'S PLASTIC FOOT MOLDS STILL INSIDE.  They had obviously smashed the window and grabbed the displays.  I asked how they purchased a shoe on the release date before any stores were open and they couldn't explain that.  Then I showed them the Athlete's Foot inserts, explained that I was calling that store, and let them know that they were welcome to stick around and speak with the police if they wanted to get their shoes back.

DEAD!

I feel a lot of you are going to try to file insurance claims for wear and tear as well. Doesn't work like that

Great post.  Jesus, those second people deserve the biggest CMON MAN ever.  That's ridiculous.

I heard of this way back in the day. People used to say Nikes that cost >$100 could be returned anytime, like they were supposed to last forever lol. The mesh on my sons cool grey lebrons is all jacked up after a few wears, but the mesh on his christmas's, that he wears almost everyday for months, is fine. I pretty sure its a defect. Never thought to make a claim. Thought it was more trouble than its worth...

Ohhh ic. I had no idea there was some sort of limit.  In the past 12 months I have sent back 4 pairs.  I've just had some bad luck with shoes.  With my Kobe 6s outrigger coming off within the first month of wearing them.  The hyperfuse material tore within 3 months of wearing them.  Two pairs of my kobe 5s both had part of the sole peeling off within the first month and a half of buying them.

Light shoes on fire, send them back. Why weren't they fireproof?

not to threadjack, but i think the voucher system is a significant reason why nike stopped publicly releasing the elite line of soccer cleats ($350-400/pair).... so many people i know snapped off a stud after a couple months, sent them in, and then got $350 vouchers.

used elite cleats on ebay in terrible condition still usually sell for ~$200, largely due to the voucher system. the only reason they don't go for more is because (a) very few people know about the voucher program, and (b) those who know nike has the program don't realize how easy it is to use/abuse.

i was trying to negotiate a price with an ebayer, and this is copy+paste of what he sent me:
i have dealt with getting a voucher for a good time now, and it is always the original retail price. ... if you dont want to do that i will take $240 shipped, if not that, i will break the cleats so whatever is your choice haha

if anything, i wouldn't have a problem with nike starting a system where you had to do something like register your shoes shortly after purchase in order to qualify for the voucher program, and being tougher overall on refusing claims.... otherwise i can totally see the program being ended because of abuse.

Why? I made a valid point. As a customer you don't actually expect something you wear on your feet to last forever do you?

I remember in high school there was kids that would damage their basketball shoes halfway through the season so they could get new pairs (or the new colorway) for free. It was pathetic.
That ain't right. If they sell a crap shoe that breaks fair enough, but intentionally?

I remember when I used to work at NT miami some dude came in with the original BB4s in blk/red. Dude took them off his feet and showed us how the sole was coming off and requested a voucher. We told him how they can't be older than 2 yrs from the production date and he still tried to lie and say he bought them the other month. Like I don't know when the bb4s came out. This was in 2010 btw

can anybody help me clarify nike's return policy?

i bought a pair of asg hyperfuse lows about a month ago from ftl, but after unds-ing/playing in them yesterday, i notice that the midsole slightly seperated from the shoe in the back. i think the production date is 8/10. i would return them to ftl, but i don't have the receipt anymore. can i still qualify for the voucher if i return them to nike?

any help is appreciated. thanks in advance.

I have returned three pairs of shoes this year. I have another pair of shoes to return but saw this thread and am hesitant to return them for I am fearful of receiving the same letter. I noticed that at the end of the letter it said to return them to your retailer in the future.

How does the retailer typically reimburse you for defective shoes?

depends on the retailer. With most of the major shops i think your !#% out after 30 days. ive owned over 200 pr of nikes...played in over 100 multiple times. returned 2...one was the dt 96 og... Seems like a lotta abuse of a great system going on. dont ruin a good thing fellas...

I'll be honest and say i pushed my luck a couple of times with Nike's return system: Pulled the sole off my wayups because they were just plain uncomfortable, and traded them against Air Max Uptempos.
Then returned a year old pair of Uptempos (not the same ones) for Jordan 13s.

I don't feel that guilty TBH, Nike made plenty of money out of me over the years.

IIRC, 'Warranty' is two years from date of manufacture. Too late for retailer, probably. Nike's direct return service might still work.

"QFT" means "Quoted For Truth". He's actually agreeing with you.

From now on use a friends address...

Theres nothing you can do now.
+1

Not gonna lie--I abused the hell out of the system back in early 2000's when I was a broke college student.

Then I got a little older and realized it was kinda grimey to pop air bubbles w/ a knife.  I think my last claim was in '03.

But yeah, sending back shoes because of normal wear and tear is a no-go.  I can say I never did that.

Karma's a %%*@# and you're lying to yourself.

You're being dishonest by damaging your shoes then sending back to Nike for credit.

Sad world we live in.
