SoCal Food/Grub Thread

Was in LA a couple weeks ago, planning on moving out there this summer. And man the eat spots are fantastic.

In Santa Monica, Bru's Wiffle: A Waffle Joint, Misfits, Rock Sugar, just so many options. I'm looking forward to great eats for many years to come.

Eh.  I'd rather have Dog Haus than Grill Em All.  I think a combo at Grill Em All is like $15 or something.  It's good, but overpriced.

Habit is okay, but still a bit overpriced.  Quality seems to be pretty good though from what I remember.

I'd rather have a hole-in-the-wall burger (George's or Imperial Burger) than Habit. It was overrated to me. I'd still prefer INO or 5 Guys before I go back to Habit. Now if you're going for one of their non-burgers, you might be alright.

same goes for Umami. I'm straight on that overrated, overpriced trash. I can't deal with a (bougie) gourmet burger. They lost me when they didn't serve regular ketchup.

Had the street cart fries with lamb the other day at Spitz in DTLA. It was delicious. No pics though

I hear you.  I just tried Pharos, right next to In n Out on Atlantic/Garfield.  I didn't even have a regular burger, I had the garden burger just to mix it up.  I'd go here over grill em all or habit.

Was my turn to buy food for everyone in my department at work. You know I hooked everybody up. Took Beef, Pork, Chicken, and Fish (I couldn't eat red meat on Friday)

We ate the Fish(es) during our first break. We were going to grub on everything else at Lunch. Some *******(s) stole/took home all the chicken :smh: and took like 2 pounds of the carnitas with them too. Grimey *** people from another dept |I

Hey guys, I'll be in San Diego for a conference in the conference center from Saturday til Wednesday. I'll be staying at the Gaslamp Plaza suites. Any good recommendations for the area? Looking for something I can only find in SD/Cali, since this is my first time out there. And hopefully something not too far in terms of walking distance, since I won't have a car. Thanks for the help!

You're best off just asking the hotel you're staying at. Unless some SD NT'ers can give you some info.

I would definitely recommend La Puerta its in the Gas Lamp district.

Good happy hour m-f 3-7 and you can get Carne Asada Fries which is basically a staple in SD.
