My girl likes to be low profile. She tried on a ring that was at 1.02 carrot and said it was too big.
The setting wasn't expensive, too bad the place she wants her ring from only sells completes. I make an honest income. So I'm putting away money instead of financing. I know I don't plan on doing anything within a year, so I'm just going to save up for a year or more and just cash it out. I'm looking at no more than 12k.

Settings are in the 2000 range. . Decent diamonds go from 6k and up. Just the diamond. Tax etc. And so on.
So seeing a price in the 8k range isn't a surprise. The place I went to only have diamonds that are no lower than a certain grade, cut, clarity, color, size.

Getting her a nice ring is kind of paying her the same respect she would you by not wilding out to a gang of dudes then saying you'll handle them. Women are rough man, at some point she'd feel the sting wearing that 25 cent machine ring. It ain't gotta be expensive and extravagant, but damn man, I don't see the harm in getting her something nice (that doesn't make you bankrupt).

Ok. 28 years old. 90k last year. And I was the one who brought up the rulenod thumb (which I don't really agree with) 3 months of your salary.
I'm in the 12 k range for a engagement right though. That's my budget.
