Shaq Has Made Inside The NBA Unwatchable.

I guess we are watching a different TV show, Chuck is unwatchable to me....never says anything profound....Kenny Smith knows the game very well and Shaq does what chuck does only better.

chuck says dumb things and shaq usually agrees with them. Don't need 2 guys saying dumb things. chuck has seniority so keep him and give shaq the boot.

I love Inside the NBA, but it's changed for me over the years as far as why I love it.

My first recollection of Inside the NBA was watching it on TNT / TBS in 2000, and from then to now the change has been evident. To me, they've been excellent at balancing actual basketball analysis with TV humor, spontaneous genius, and all of the other things that we've come to love about Inside.

But over the last few years, I watch it and love it strictly for the aforementioned latter. Their basketball analysis has fallen off of a cliff. Especially with Chuck and Shaq, it's like they regurgitate a rehearsed narrative that they never deviate from. Their analysis is so stereotypical, that it's become cringeworthy. It's like as if they don't even watch the games they are asked to analyze.

So while I still love and enjoy inside, actual basketball analysis is far from their strong suit.

"regurgitate a rehearsed narrative that they never deviate from"

Sounds like Skip, Stephen A, and the NBA season thread

Is chuck still going to say jumpshooting teams can't win when the Warriors get to the finals?

He has every right to say that until a jumpshooting team wins the championship. Up til now it has been correct. Someone has to change the established dynamic. Maybe the Warriors are the team to do that.

It's amazing how much the diesel has improved from when he first joined.

Hate all you want... but Shaq is da man
:pimp:

So a mainly jumpshooting team has never won the championship in the history of the nba so far? That's weird to think about. My memory sucks. I know Dirk posts up and had some decent scorers around him. Pistons had Sheed and Billups who would post people up.

Dallas was a purely jump shooting team, Charles is an idiot. He said The Rockets and Warriors would never advance this far, he's already been proven wrong

Also the Spurs shot a ton of jumpers

Dirk shot as many FT as Wade that series. That didn't come from shooting wide open jumpshots.

Spurs are automatically disqualified. See Duncan in the post, Parker gets in lane more than any other PG.

Barkley is talking about teams that have no interior offensive presence when he is talking about jumpshooting teams.

I like Isiah Thomas the most. He seems to be ahead of all the jokes and has everyone's kryptonite if they ever come at him.

Just a cool dude I'd have drinks with and talk about old stories.

Barkley is talking out of his *** when he is talking about jump shooting teams

He doesn't grasp the concept that the game has changed, and had been changing YEARS ago

Dirk's true shooting numbers that series were historically great, and his teammates filled it up from the perimeter as well

Again, Charles said Houston and Golden State would never advance this far. He's already been proven wrong, hell even with Atlanta

Name one commentator that has been correct 100% of the time. If you want to hate on him because you don't like him then proceed, but acting as if he doesn't know anything about basketball because he got a prediction wrong is petty.

Who did Charles say would beat the Warriors? Memphis. Why? Because they can bully down low and have a stopper for one of the splash bros. That was working according to plan until Allen got hurt. Klay was ghost until then. Griz could afford to let one guard, Curry, cook as long as the other was shut down. Once Allen got hurt that all went to the wayside. Charles was right.

I remember someone asked him about the jumpshooting Warriors still being in the playoffs and he said it's because they're making their shots. When they lost a game to the Grizzlies everyone jumped on the idea that they can't win shooting jumpers. Kinda dumb since they've been the best team in the League this year.

Uh, nobody is right 100%. That isn't the topic, unless I'm mistaken. He's proven over and over that he doesn't watch full games anymore. That is my opinion, if you disagree so be it. PLENTY of others have noticed the same thing

The better question is who would you replace him with? Rating will plummet once Chuck is gone.

I'll put some names of ones who have been on there:

Grant Hill - Terrible
Steve Smith - Knows basketball, but does not have a personality that has some entertainment value to it.
Gary Payton - Kenny Smith is hard enough to listen to.
Chris Webber - Rarely has anything worthwhile to add.

List goes on.

I wouldn't mind if he stayed on the show, it will be interesting to see how the game continues to move towards a different style of play and to see how Chuck processes it. He's always been so vocal about being anti-analytics, another reason I think it's hilarious that Houston made it to the conference finals

Shaq on the other hand, which is the topic, he can kick rocks. Chuck will at least sit there and explain himself and his thought process. Shaq just comes through and tries to be louder than everyone else. His answer to everything is "stop it" or "he should be averaging 20 and 15"

IMO Shaq is a waste of a chair on that show. He brings nothing.

And I like Shaq. This is just the wrong place for him.

His punishment for him saying bbq chicken is people throw bbq chicken at him. He should be banned from saying yak yak as well.

By no means am I advocating Chuck or Shaq leaving the show. They really are fantastic television.

But their basketball assessments are piss poor man.

Gary Payton and CWebb are both great on TV.

Kenny is great at what he does too.

Chuck is Chuck.

Steve Smith is cool

Reggie is bad, he's hard to listen to during games and I've never seen somebody get so many facts wrong.

Shaq is a big sensitive kid that wants all the attention. He can be funny some times but most of the time he's trying to hard.
