THE SHOES THAT GOT ME FIRED FROM NIKE

___________________________________________
Personally, I think it's absolutely pathetic that Nike LP is FAR more concerned and active about a single pair of TBs than the thousands of fakes listed on eBay each day.

I think a priority check is in order.

So very true, Nike is barking up the wrong tree.

Really sorry to hear, you sound like a cool guy. I also feel you could have contacted many NT heads. You probably would have gotten the right amount of $$$, if not more than what Ebay would have'has gotten you. Anyways screw Nike/NCAA, they have bigger things to worry about other than some person selling PE shoes.

I got fired for returning my comp shoes and getting something else.
LP had a conference call with me and I even paid for the comp shoes.

I love the brand and will always rock the shoes, but man corporate are a bunch of uptight youknowwhats.

Seriously it was a stupid move on their part, no one at my store has the nike knowledge I have nor could sell shoes based on tech talk like I could. I'm not crying though, props to loss prevention for firing people like me and Digital Jordan instead of getting more shoplifters or true internal theft.

I just got a mental picture of them interrogating you like the Agents did Neo in the first Matrix...

So they're really tough on that PE ish huh?

guess they'll go thru any lengths to make sure PEs dont end up in the hands of "civilians"

Method Man speaks the absolute truth. It is extremely dissapointing to hear that Nike would get frantic about a few pair of team shoes given to a person that works at the Employee store (absolutely no offense Digital). It truly does show where their priorities are. It has been stated multiple times by the apparent insiders on this board that Nike does little to nothing to stop fakes from being sold.

I simply don't understand this. Digital may have made a mistake by posting them on Ebay, but in the grand scheme of things, you've got to be kidding me.

I cant be sorry for you. There are rule and you've seen people get fired all the time. Its a Ncaa rules that you can not sell given products. its looks like your giving the player money for their free stuff. Player 'try to take back stuff all the time that they get free. Thats why they change the bar code on the free stuff like team shoes. The bowl games are where player's get a lot of free goos and they try to take the stuff back all the time. I think you tried to test the waters instead of collecting like you said you do.

Nike has got to get their priorities straight. So what if the stuff was free or whatever to the NCAA players. Look where they're losing a majority of their money.....that's right the fakes.

Now if Nike Loss Prevention...wow, what an oxymoron....would go after these fake makers or sellers than maybe the world would be a better place.

I said maybe.

It seems that they're terrified of the prospect that an NCAA "student athlete" could sell his or her PE shoes and somehow manage to eke out the tiniest profit from one of the most exploitive sports industries in the free world.

Heaven forbid a player whose labor produces millions of dollars for the NCAA sell a pair of the shoes he or she implicitly "endorses" without compensation to receive fair market value. (Fair value not for their services or labor, but merely for the SHOE itself.)

Meanwhile, consumer confidence in Nike shoes has hit an all time low thanks, largely, to the utter ubiquity of counterfeits both online and at brick and mortar locations worldwide - but apparently LP considers THAT problem unworth their valuable time.

You'll interrogate someone for selling ONE pair of PEs on eBay, meanwhile there are POWER SELLERS who've done nothing but deal in fake Jordans, and there are websites that've been operating in broad daylight for 3-4 years now seemingly without so much as a cease and desist. We've received harsher rebuke from Nike for running a damned fan site than these people have for selling hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of fakes.

I'm not naive enough to expect Nike to care about the customer beyond dollars and cents, but this IS a financial issue.

If nothing else: Do your jobs.

Fakes represent millions of dollars of lost sales. That's a loss.

Prevent it.

So are the ones up on ebay NOW yours or did someone just steal your pics?

ouch! sorry to hear you lost your job.

But putting your Oregon LBJ 2 PE that you got from your Nike hookup on Ebay was not a good idea.

EXACTLY. They might not be doing it now, but in the near future Nike is indeed looking to make a huge run at shutting down the production of fakes.

In talking with a few campus people, the main problem is that if they shut down one factory, a few blocks down a new factory will simply pop up undercover. The problem will almost never be stopped imo.

sorry to hear it, but Nike deson't screw around with stuff like that, bad move to put em on ebay.

the store lp has nothing to do with stopping the production of fakes the job that they hold is to prevent loss inside the store not outside. it sucks that you got fired digital. the reason they fired you though isnt because of the lb2's thats the reason they started to look at you. im sure that the official reason they would give you if you asked for it would be misuse of employee discount which i know everybody with an es hook-up does but still in retail terms its wrong
you aint got to tell me you're feelin this ish because i know what im wearin i know im killin this ish

Thanks for putting the U of O bball team at risk from the NC2A. Its your fault for being blatent about stuff that you should have known you were not supposed to have. If anything happened its the players fault, but you sure didnt help the cause. Oh and they were not gifts, the shoes are considered equipment. Sorry for being so harsh, its too bad that happened, but you should have seen it comin.

Oh and I would like to give a shoutout to the NCAA who is probably reading this board now while conducting an investigation.

Have a lovely day to all.... :D

I don't think NIke is worried about PE's leaking, I think it's more that they were gifts to college students...There might be some loophole where a student making profit off a free gift from a company, can count as some sort of monetary payment. In turn some kids out there could lose their NCAA eligibility. I think that is what this about, not them being PE's. Cause a lot of PE's and special shoes made for players are sold on ebay all the time, ie lebron dunks, forces, etc. I found that getting regular PE's were far easier than getting college PE's, due to the simple fact that Nike knows what it gives out to these kids, and if they see some on sale on ebay, it easy for them to conduct a investigation to find out where and which kid it came from..Have a friend going through the same thing right now..

I think that is terrible reasoning as to stopping the production of fakes. If one is taken down, another will pop up? Uhh... so we just let it happen and hope it works out in the end? What about these websites flooded all over the internet who HAVE been operating since forever. People probably access these sites more than the actual Nike website. If that isn't lost revenue, than I don't know what is. Go Nike! Just Do It.

"EXACTLY. They might not be doing it now, but in the near future Nike is indeed looking to make a huge run at shutting down the production of fakes."
^Funniest line that I heard all day. I'm still waiting for this to happen.

The pairs on ebay are mine and a good friends. All my pairs are from differant people and the Oregon team is NOT the only people to receive them. Maybe the NCAA should of looked into that before going after the team.

As far as the fakes go I actully asked the people who talked to about that. They told me they do look into it but do not have the money and people power to really do anything about it. I did not get the feeling they really care.

All I know is I worked real hard during the year I worked for that company and it all ended with this. I will prob never ever be able to work for the company I wanted to work for since I was 11 years old.
