Teams managed to neutralize his speed in the half court by staying back and daring him to beat them with his jumper, which he had little confidence in and took reluctantly. Wall made 61.9 percent of his shots inside three feet (237 for 383), but he struggled to connect from everywhere else. He shot just 27.6 percent (141 for 511) from three feet and beyond and Thorpe said his three-point shot “fell off the face of the earth.

Waits for Dior Paint to respond. Remember there was a time quite recently that D. Rose lacked a consistent mid-to-long range jumper.

For his 1st 2 years in the league his sidekick was a young, raw, immature center who is widely regarded as the dumbest player the league has seen in years.

The only decent player he's had is Nick Young, the 4th guard (should be 5th but Billups is injured, arguably 6th if you like Bledsoe which I do) on a 5th seeded playoff team's rotation.

I do think his shot regressed this year but to count him out now is a bit foolish. He'd be a junior at Kentucky right now. Throw in Anthony Davis, some shooters, and we'll see what happens.

I agree that he'll never be a great player or even a superstar for that matter... But he's far from terrible.

C'mon op.

Any wizards fans knows why his numbers were so terrible.

he cant shoot, when did his teammates affect his jumpshot? hes not that great, i said that the day he got drafted.

put him on a better team and his stats still wont be any good and he wont be playing any better, i can put money on it.

im sorry, your a wizards/wall fan but the truth hurts.

He needs to learn to run an offense and play the game the correct way, slow down the offense. Nate McMillan would be an excellent choice of coach. Slow down offense where he has to execute on every play.

Basketball is a team sport. Scrutinizing individual stats are silly. If and when John Wall digs out into a better team, he should shine. Isn't his contract up already/

I agree OP. I said it when he was coming out too. For someone who's supposed to be a "Franchise Player" he's not looking anywhere close to it. The most damning stat to me is the turnovers. This is the second year in a row he's finished 2nd in the league in turnovers by .1 percent. There has been next to no improvement in his game and like the article says it doesn't even seem like he's trying to adjust.
I have watched my fair share of Wizards games back when the great Javale McGee was there so I've seen him in action. Its not good at all.

That is true but when you're the franchise player, the who has the majority of the control, and who most of the plays are designed for, more is expected of you. Its his job to be a team and culture changer like other Franchise players like Lebron and D Rose have done, and there has been 0 improvements in his game after two years of being the focal point. Its not a good sign and honestly he hasn't made a case for any big name teams to give him big name money or even put faith in him for that matter.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. You take away that dude speed, he couldn't even compete in a rec league. He has world class speed and quickness, and ZERO basketball skills

^hmmmm, take away world class speed and quickness from a world class athlete, and hes no longer a world class athlete.
Did that take a while to figure out?

thats wild because he shot so well this past summer. dude was lowkey lights out. then he plays against real comp...and is absolutely awful. hmm..

Take away my brain and I might have posted something stupid like this too.

I would respond if I actually cared about what Zyzz posts or thought that there was a brain in between his ears.

ok so you think hes a good shooter? great ball player?

hmmmm ok

Top 10 in assists & FT attempts and led all PGs in blocks (2nd behind all guards to Wade) & boards

The future is still bright for him, but yes his jumper is broken
