ASM2's budget is so high
sick.gif
. To put it into perspective, TDKR's was 250, MoS's was 225, and the Avengers was 220.
You're saying it actually has a higher budget than those movies?
sick.gif
,any official budget? If so I doubt that they'll be making much profit this time seeing as its box office numbers are down compared to all the other Spidey movies

Bad word of mouth destroyed this movie's box office run :smh:

I'm on a personal mission to slander every comic book movie now. I'm so ready to sink my teeth into DoFP

Box office mojo lists the production budget for ASM2 as N/A. I'm just going off of what was posted in this thread. If that 300 million number is true :x :x

The ASM1's production budget is officially ilsted as 230 I did not know this :x :x

I remember reading that the budget was around $250 million and every little but of it showed. You've never seen a web swinging sequence like the one in the beginning. That scene alone had to be worth about 10 mil

The people who diss the ASM movies probably aren't going to like DoFP. You probably won't find anyone defending that movie on this board either. I bet if you go after the Batman Vs Superman movie you'll get the reaction you want

It's just the word of mouth that kills me. All these early reviews for DoFP are calling it "Avengers with mutants" and I'm 99.9% sure that movie will suck let alone be anything close to Avengers or it's legendary source material but because these early reviews are praising it, people will brainwash themselves to love it (just like Cap 2) but spiderman was just so perfect man, I mean they killed Gwen Stacy dog. What more could people ask for from Spiderman??

And I got banned from that Superman vs. Batman thread a few months back >D regardless of what I say, I'll always support Marvel films. DC films on the other hand, I'm always ALWAYS very critical of >D >D >D

I was actually really impressed with the action scenes in ASM2. I think most people would agree it's impressive but if you read most of the gripes about the movie, it's not the action that they're complaining about. I mostly hear 'it's not enough action' or 'too much teen romance' 'too many villains'. Those are probably the main complaints.

It's too bad. I really liked the movie too. At the same time, I'm not too mad. I've always wanted the spiderman property to change hands

I think Sony is doing a way better job with the spiderman property than what Fox is doing with Xmen/F4. Plus Sony mentioned that they were working very closely with Marvel for the spiderman universe they're trying to establish. I guess everyone will act like they've always loved this new spiderman series once Garfield's spiderman shows up in Avengers....

It's my understanding that the relationship between Sony and Disney are very good. But I don't think they've ever gone as far as working together on Spiderman's cinematic universe. They've done contractual work together where I think Sony gets all the money from the movie profits but Disney gets all the merchandising profits from Spiderman yea  Boy did Sony get screwed with that deal.

Also, I think they were really close to putting an Oscorp building in the Avengers movie but that's it.

Garfield's Spiderman will never show up in the Avengers. There's too much greed on all sides involved for that to happen. There will be a lot of fighting over how much of a cut Sony gets out of the Avengers movie.

What if, bare with me one this, Spider-Man is but isn't in the movie? Think about this, during that last battle with the aliens in avengers what is cap is surround and gets hit by one of their grenades, then when he shakes off the effects of the blast he sees that all the aliens are webbed up with a note attached, "you're welcome - from your friendly neighborhood.....". The nerdgasims would leave the movies smelling like the ocean.

What if they made a scene like that but in avengers 2? I think it'd be cool

THIS! As many contractual obligations their are, the bottom line is money. It's be nothing for Marvel and Sony to come to terms with Garfield in Avengers. Just pay Sony a lump sum followed by a percentage of movie sales and DVD sales. Let's be real, A2 is bound to be the #1 highest grossing movie of all time and that's WITHOUT mention of a spiderman cameo. Let word of mouth spread that spiderman is in the film after it drops and you'll have the whole world watching that film, twice.

That's exactly why it's never going to happen. Sony needs Disney way more than the other way around. The Avengers don't need no help

E everysingletime The 300m budget from me was just an estimate. Wiki has the budget listed a 200-225m, but you also have to factor in what they spend on advertising and with these summer blockbusters its always gonna be like 50-100m spent on that. So all those movies you listed like TDKR and MoS have budgets around 300m at the end of the day.

For how much a movie needs to make to start profiting....its complicated and there's no exact way for us regular people to calculate it. You have to factor in how much movie theaters take in out of the ticket sales and **** like that which there are no official numbers for. I just use double the budget as a general rule of thumb, but the article I posted a page back said that ASM2 might need to make 800m to break even which waaaay more than double the budget (supposedly) so who knows.

What makes it even worse for ASM2 is that Sony sold all the merchandising rights a couple years ago so they can completely control the ticket sale profits. I bet they're regretting that now  All the toys, costumes, lunchboxes, games....etc. going to Disney

Saw it Friday.. Really enjoyed it.. Had a couple nit picky problems with it.. But enjoyed it none the less

Wish they hadn't made electro so dr Manhattanish

Overall budget for this film is in the $400m+ after marketing.

Sony is betting big all right, with more than $400 million in production and worldwide marketing costs riding on the superhero’s back. The studio is banking on the sequel to out-earn its 2012 predecessor, “The Amazing Spider-Man,” whose $752 million global take was less than the B.O. of each of the three “Spider-Man” pics that starred Tobey Maguire.

Sony was also expecting to hit $1b with this film, from that same article:

Just how big does “Spider-Man 2,” directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, need to be? Pascal, who declined to be interviewed, has set a goal of $1 billion worldwide, say sources. Just 18 movies have minted that kind of loot, most recently Disney’s animated “Frozen,” Disney/Marvel’s “The Avengers” and “Iron Man 3” — and Sony’s James Bond movie “Skyfall.”

I thought I'd be used to it lames slurping of this film but it's laughable how dude just doesn't get it. I get it when a movie is widely hated by critics but mostly loved by most here, kind of like reverse for IM3 (liked by critics but hated here on NT) but if the consensus matches up with the reviews and people here, then there must be something wrong with the film.

I mean the way you accuse people of being blinded by early reviews applies to you too (lame), you're already making GotG to be a classic when it was first announced and no casting were even made yet. You were already loving this film even before the trailers came out, so I'd say you were already blinded before you saw the film. And you thinking DoFP will suck is just you being as blinded as the old film are making you out to be. Yeah, yeah before people pile on, they have the right to, it's justified, blah blah blah. But I think you can still wait two weeks to pass judgement but even if it is good then I think you'll just hold a grudge on the ASM2 reviews being murdered and "IF" DoFP get praised that you'll just automatically hate it anyways.

I'd rather have Toby be in there.
