I understand what you're saying, and I'm not one to bash people for what they like. I was one of the few arguing with Swamd and Slim in the Electro thread for their hipster elitist attitude. Although I do disagree with you about EDM influencing pop. The new EDM damn near IS pop. They made it that way to attract a bigger audience and make more money. Just look at Aoki's, and Wolfgang's last albums. Newer electronic music is a watered down version of real electronic music. 

Come on, dude. Aoki has never been that good in the first place. I suspect his few good songs were coproduced. Anyways,

WHO CARES if a lot of EDM is made for the masses. You will always get to see good DJs if you live in a populous city. I know you live in the Bay and have access to a great scene along-side the more pop stuff, because I live there too.

You're right about Aoki, but that's the point. The new wave of producers are gravitating towards making pop-electro over anything else, which floods the scene with nothing but commercial crap. Luckily SF's real House scene is emerging, and I hope it can catch up to LA's.

I'm not going to get into the argument going on in here, some people get salty when something goes "mainstream".  Good things don't stay underground forever and house/deep house/electro/ etc has been underground for way too long, now elitist are getting salty as hell because these DJ's are getting major shine.

Friday -  It was a %*!%@ checking in,

.  MGM properties system crashed so checking in was a pain in the +$%.  Already a bad start, hit the tables and grabbed some grub.  Still sucked but whatever.  Really really wanted to get there to see Will.i.Am... j/k yeah %*%@%%% right.  Wanted to catch Hardwell, but his set was way to early (8:30pm)

.  Caught the end of Knife Party, and all of Ingrosso, both killed it.  Afrojack also had a solid set... rushed over to catch Benassi, felt like playing football again with swim moves and spins to dodge the crowd all while being completely blitzed.  Caught the end of Benassi, was disappoint.  

Missed Alesso 

, "Afroki" was dope as !!%$... (Afrojack/Aoki).

Saturday- Got there in time for Martin Solveig, solid set, not special but solid.   Bassnectar... not a fan, so just chilled, walked around, got on some rides and hollered at scantily clad females.  Got back for Calvin Harris, he was killing his set and BOOM....music stops 

.  Night over.

Sunday - Like most still have the Saturday night hangover, and grumbling about it.  Chose Major Lazer over Dirty South and was not disappointed.  Did some walking, talking, etc.  Got to Kinetic Field for David Guetta, it was ok, thought he mailed it in.  Maybe 'cause his set got cut short due to Avicii taking a chunk of his slot.  Avicii did a solid 30 minutes.  It is what it is.  Armin Van Buuren, 

, mind blown.  He just impressed me...  Followed by Porter Robinson, left in the middle to catch half of Bingo Player's set  

Overall, awesome experience but a lot of cons.  The pro's are well known, it's an awesome atmosphere.

Cons:

- Traffic on Friday was ridiculously bad, awful trying to get in.  Someone dropped the ball.  Luckily it improved on Sat/Sun.

- Taxi Lines

.  Waiting in that line when you are running on empty, the worst.  Friday waited a good 2 1/2 hours to get a cab, Saturday 90 minutes and Sunday we left right after Bingo Players, beating the rush.

- Taxi's trying to price gouge, trying to charge $120 flat fee 

- Even when they weren't, it was a $65-70 cab ride minimum

- 5 person max per cab, we had 6 people...

- Shuttles were awful too, but at least the pass was a one time $70 fee.

I guess once you are in the Speedway it's all gravy...

ok, i'll skip kaskade then.  glad you got "jacked" i can't wait to see afro again.  i had a ear to ear smile on the whole entire show. i hope you guys had a good time at edc this year.  it just wasn't in the budget for me since i have to fly there.

is anyone going to edc pr? it's on my birthday and i fly for free to pr so i might go... slim chance but i really want to go.  i could just go for the day and come back.  we need a edc minneapolis, the scene is big enough to support it in the midwest. look at electric forest. or at least chicago, i'm there enough as it is, it's nothing to go there.

I just don't like his new style. He just plays his mashups, like don't get me wrong some are sick and some are just too much. I like the "old" kaskade when he use to play like in a slow tempo. But that's just me. But edc 2011 was sooo much better than this year. 2012 was way over hyped. There were tons of first timers. I still want a refund for Saturday tho, just walked in at the end of bassnectar and watched Calvin Harris till the music stopped. He was having a great set also. Insomniac got sooo lucky we didn't cause a riot lol

I left on Sunday to not deal with that @@!$. I actually didn't even go Saturday. My crew went too hard Friday night

@@!$ was ridiculous. Since we got there late we ended up staying up and partying til' 2:30 pm Sat. Didn't get up til' 9 PM Sat. Needless to say.. we were out for that night

. Since my group wasn't big on the EDC scene (Even though it was fun as hell) we ended up selling our tickets for Sat/Sun days and partied on the strip Sat night.

EDC wasn't for me. I had a lot of fun, though. Would recommend to everyone to at least go once to see what it's all about.

Damn shame about Saturday though, but I understand why it was cancelled. Hopefully some reimbursement for those with 3 day passes? 

Pretty Lights KILLED it, probably my favorite set visually. Spent most of my time at Kinetic Field though. Tried to catch A&B but it was just packed.

Camelbak was clutch too. 

I'm glad my group rented cars. Except for Saturday. Took 2 and a half hours to get there, and right when I 

 it got cancelled

his set at ID was crazy, but im glad someone agrees with me that he didnt have a great set. if you seen him before in the past you would know what im talking about. but im going back to my trance family. house music is toooooo mainstream now. when armin played at the circuit grounds, there was barely people compared to the amount at kinetic.
