Nike Zoom Kobe - time for an upgrade - next bball shoe choice recommendations please

hey all,

im back playing basketball and thought it was about time to upgrade my Kobe's.

I was playing in the Kobe IV Del Sol's so figured I go for a WHITE alternative.

I have no idea about any releases past the IV so I'm asking for some opinions on anything that might be worth keeping an eye out for.

I'm a collector as well as a Kobe fan so I'm after more of the collectable/desirable colorways. I'm after a pair that he actually wears/wore.

- Zoom Kobe V to present.
- Price/rarity doesn't matter.
- Yes there's style points, but they obviously still need to be well-made/comfortable.
- white

what pair of VII is he rocking in this pic? (Game one of Playoffs).

just had a look then man and I couldn't see them.the only elites ive seen are the white home with the gold swoosh and the black.never seen the purple as shown in the pic.can you actually get them?
 
The white/purple elites are PE's only available to kobe (as we know) because under NBA playoff rule, you can't have gold on shoes 'till the finals.
 
In a nutshell-
Kobe V's are awesome to ball in, lightweight, great lockdown, great cushioning and responsive.
Kobe VI- OK shoe imo, but I had a problem with heel slip (as was a problem I heard often of others having).
Kobe VII- I like them. Although not as light as the previous 3 models, great lockdown, fit and cushioning. I've only played in the "Play Fast" ones and don't have any of the Play strong inserts, but I still like them.

As far as colorways, I play in Kobe V inks, he wore them a few times that year and you can get a pair dirt cheap if you look hard enough.
As far as the VI, dont know and dont care, not a fan of the shoe.
VII- Grab a pair of white/concords which are on sale/hitting outlets.

it DEF helps man! thanks for that.I'll start looking into the popular V colorways then, to see what I've missed. If there isn't anything too exciting in white, I'll just go for whatever colorway looks good.I know people are liking the VI "Grinch" "Chaos" "Sunset" etc, but if the general consensus is they aren't the best Basketball shoe available, I'll steer clear.Thanks again

You're gonna get a real mix of opinions about which is better between the Vs and VIs, so I wouldn't say that's a consensus. There are definitely different pros and cons to each of them. For the Vs, I think the lockdown is incredible, and you really feel like you're low to the ground. On the other hand, there are some durability issues with the V's upper, and you might get some tears in the flywire if you ball in one pair over an extended period of time. With the VIs, I think the cushioning is better than the Vs (but you also feel a bit higher off the ground), and the VI's upper is generally more durable than the Vs as well and will hold up better. However, if you don't really break them in, you'll have some heel slippage with the VIs in the beginning. Regarding traction, I think some prefer the Vs, but others prefer the VIs so I can't really say which is definitively better.
I do think it's safe to say the majority of people think the Vs and VIs are both better than the VIIs performance wise though. I haven't balled in my VIIs yet, but I've heard some things about people getting blisters or irritation on their arches from playing in them. For casual wear though, I haven't heard any real issues.

Yeh, I've been looking into all 3 releases since posting and I can see pro's and cons for each.
Like you said, everyone is going to have a different opinion on which feels more comfortable, support, looks etc.
Maybe I should just start with a pair of V's and work my way up?
I'm liking the VII Elite Home - the "Attack Strong" mid sole is trash though!

What are the best colorways to look for in the V and VII at the moment?

are the "Concord" (Attack Fast) he's wearing in this pic blue? or are they purple (the same as the Retail version?)

there's jack-all good colorways of the V around (on eBay etc) though.might be a bit hard for me to get a decent pair, and I just sold my Playoff Home.
