This man knows whats up.  I've been drinking jameson and sprites a lot recently.  All three of his suggestions are great, but I'm not picky, so really any whiskey helps me get the job done.

Macallan 12, 18 (on Firm's dime usually) and have a bottle of Blue stocked.

Irish side, still enjoy Jameson.

Have a old %+* bottle, that was from the 60's of some Ballantine 21 yr aged...gets the job done.
Is Johnnie Walker Blue Label that much better than the "lower" versions? Might purchase a 200 ml since I can't afford $300 a bottle at the moment

I heard it is good, but you can get better stuff for the money. I'd try the green label, heard good things about it, and thankfully not the same price range as the blue

Johnny walker Blue Label is infinitely better than the "lower" versions... not to say that black label is anywhere near bad. It's my drink of choice everywhere... but that Blue Label is something else. It's smoother and has a better taste. No ice please.

Irish Whiskies are becoming more "en vogue" and therefore, price increases are occurring as well.

that yamakazi up there is good.

also, johnny walker blue should not cost more than 180. the grocery store near me sells it for 130. its an asian market, but still. its 180 at bevmo.

Wild turkey.. @*++'ll put hair on your chest

If you're low on funds, ezra brooks is aight.

Crown all day! I try to stay away from crown black, I didn't like that too much when I tried it. Also, try Crown Reserve. A bit more expensive, but I think it's worth it.

I stick with this as it's not too expensive and has a good taste

Although this is pretty damn good if cost isn't a factor

Buchannans when im feeling colombian.

Johnny walker Black everyday, Gold when im feeling fancy.

Crown Royal when i feel like switching it up.

Old Parr is pretty good too.

LIES!!!!.. because of this thread i went to go get some johnny black label and its @!###*% gross... i have a wide range of things to drink.. my go to is henny...  but i also drink crown, jameson, goose, patron, bombay and much more... im opened minded to a lot of spirits... im gonna keep on drinking it so see if my pallet will get used to the flavors but as a first impression its nasty...

Cool recommendations in this thread

Jameson is my #1 choice, a splash of ginger ale goes well if I'm not drinking it straight

if you're doing shots and someone tries to pass, have them chase with OJ

also, I normally don't mess with Jack D but the green label is decent to me for just as much $

Booker's is fantastic, so is J Walker

I mean no offense to you, but just based off the brands you listed..you really don't have a trained pallet. The analogy would be someone who goes from wine coolers to a nice cold beer.
Patron, Goose, Crown are TERRIBLE spirits. The only reason they are so popular is because of packaging and media. For whiskey...start off with Macallan 12. You're going to want to focus on single malts and things that aren't overly caramelized.

Another thing -- you DO NOT drink whiskey with that much ice or water in it. Literally a small splash of water is all you need. Anything more than that is killing your drink and wasting your money.

I also STRONGLY suggest Old Rip Van Winkle if you can get your hands on it. You have to order it in August from your local spot, it usually ships in November.

It's the real deal and I've only had the 10 year, 90 proof.
