-I'm leaving a diner on my lunch break and this white lady just approaches me with the most bs story. She said she was sorry to bother me but she's a tourist from Chicago (I didn't notice a Midwestern accent)and her rental car is stuck on the street. She said her phone AND wallet was left at the hotel (I noticed she still had her purse). I asked her where and the street she told me was about 2 miles away (I wanted to ask her how'd she make it this far).
-Last year, I went to the gas before work and so lady approached me with a few cases of Dr. Pepper. She told me she just started a new job and was running late because she ran out of gas. She offered to sell me the cans of soda. I figured I'd just give her some change instead. I went inside to pay for my gas and kinda waited to see if she would come in. She just jumped in the whip and drove off.

Back in 06', a lady approached me with her daughter and gave me the saddest story about not being able to feed her. I gave her $20 cause I had no change and felt bad for the girl. I still tell myself the money was spent on food for the daughter.

This dude with no legs came on the train and i was gonna give him $1 but i accidentally pulled out a 50 dollar bill and his face lit up and i was like "err..sorry".

man i live in metro Detroit, and i guarantee you people from Chicago and Detroit do not have accents (i dont think there is such thing as a midwest accent)
but still, like i said, i live in the D (or around) and you cant walk down the street without running into a panhandler, whats worse is that they are expanding to the richer suburbs so you cant get away

the lamest one was at the gas station, this guy told me he was 19 and got kicked out the house, first off im basically his age so no im not about to give someone who can get a job just like mine money for nothing, second if you just got kicked out, go back and stop being difficult, but i just told him no and he had the nerve to grim me while i was pumpin my gas

off rip i asked him if he had a problem, he said yea, then i said dont turn it into a mistake, then he walked up so i balled my fists and he stepped back

i couldnt believe this fool really got mad at me for not giving him MY money, like i owed him or something, i just got hot off of him feelin entitled to my bread, then on top of that tryin to run up

in retrospect i shouldve whooped his !*#

Dude came up to me and asked for bus money, I pulled out $1 and he said 'You ain't got more?' I put the money back in my pocket and walked off..
There is this homeless man who's always at the intersection by my house, I usually give him a dollar or two whenever I can. But that's about it.

If my Dashwire hadn't closed I could post a photo.

There's this guy in OKC who panhandles on the corner in front of the Wal Mart entrance, sign talking about "Will work for food" and when Wal Mart was hiring, they put the sign on that corner and he was literally begging for money just feet in front of the sign.

I had a guy said he needed money to get back to his mom and was going to buy a bus ticket with it, $60 or something. I told him fine, meet me at the bus station same time tommorow and I'll buy you the ticket. He was so happy, God Bless You'd me like 40 times, didn't show up.

for a dollar i will swallow =x But he was chewing gum.

Or a guy who holds out four quarters and he asks people a dollar for four quarters. Then when you give him a dollar he says he said a dollar or four quarters and dips.

usually I ask them for change before they say anything. I've taken five bucks most

or usually I tell them I need this more than you, especially when i'm walking out 711 with change in my hand

I've almost never walked past a homeless person and not given them money when I had it. If I'm only carrying one bill they can have it, doesn't matter the amount. The most I've ever given a homeless person was $250 but I knew his story and what he was going to use it for.
I can't in good conscience not give people who are living on the street 5 dollars that I would most likely not use for anything really useful. I don't like to think about what they are or are not doing with it. I don't want to be cynical about it and assume that they're going to use it on drugs and sometimes I don't have the time to "go find them food instead". I'd rather put my faith in them and I have no problem with that. I'm in a privileged situation and get to sleep in a bed, have 3 square meals, and spend money on things that people would deem frivolous that $5 is worth more to them than me 9/10 times regardless of what they use it for.

This guy hit me with a story about how he just got out of jail here in CT and he was trying to get some money to catch a train to Harlem to go be with his kids

I believed him the first time, then I seen hi, like twice a month for the next year and it was always the same story

Seen this guy last summer on Amsterdam in the heights

I always say no and never pay these scammers. Never feel bad about it.

I'm sure my fellow NYC brethren have come across the mute chick with the laminated sign talking about how bad she has it and she needs money and then flips the sign over to show the pictures of her kids

Always is a bit awkward when they see you get change after buying something and you tell them no or just keep walking.

I respect the ones that have signs straight up saying "Why lie, I just need money for alcohol"

Still don't give them money though

Damn son, now that's coldblooded. You ask them for money? I couldn't even fix my mouth to do that. More power to you though

Props.

There were times I found myself out there struggling and never thought of that.

The guy who's missing fingers saying that he's raising money to coach a basketball team

I haven't been on that train line but that guy was annoying

"If you don't have change, just give me a smile"

Any of you dudes who rode the F train in the last decade has to know about this guy

hell no, i didn't give him money...

When a bum asks me for change I pat my pockets real hard so they can here my change. Then I look em sraight in the eye & say nope no change lol! #TRUSTORY

"Nah man " if they ask me again I'll get hard with them. I don't play that +%%+ is so annoying. I can't get 20ft downtown by work without getting swarmed.

I was out in Boulder, CO not to long ago and it's a rich hippie town.  Some dude came up to me talking about 'parents just shut down my credit cards and I'm trying to party tonight.'  The pan handle game out there is strong.  Everyone has a different gimmick.

Down by Yankee stadium, there's always this chick, with a pittbull looking bummy, just sitting on a blanket with a cup. And people throw all types of dough in there. One time we got to the stadium extra early and I saw this chick setting up, in nice gear. SMH.

One time growing up this neighborhood chick rang the bell crying about the bus and kids etc. I was like 10 and I went up and gave up 12 bucks I saved up from my allowance. My mom cried for like 45 mins, bc she knew the deal, and I of course as a kid was just doing what I thought was right.

My best story, another time rolling up to Yankee Stadium, coming off the Maj Deegan on that ramp by the McCombs Dam bridge, Dude was at the light, begging, I gave him a can of a beer and this pretty nice clip I had. Dude was loving me, the next time I went to a game, same light, same dude, he offered me a beer back.

I always give. I'm not struggling, I'd rather give knowing regardless of their lies, they need it more than I do.

One time I did toss a homeless guy a quarter (it's all I had) and he fumbled the catch. Without even trying to be a ****, I said 'don't quit your day job.'

I only give to the ones who I've seen downtown morning, noon and night. Guys sleeping on the heat vents during winter, smh. But that's every now and then.

If they're hungry and I know them, then I'll buy them something to eat. But I'm not taking a chance too many times anymore to help these guys/girls get their fix.

Real talk, a lot of them did it to themselves. Not all. Especially the ones who have mental issues. But a good portion screwed up in life and gave up.

Something else though, as much money that flows in this world and as being someone who has worked in a restaurant before (food waste is crazy). There are enough resources to feed, clothed and house the truly needy. They're just not enough people with the proper resources that care or want to. Its a system. Power, status and greed.

Came out of subway one time and dude asked me for spare change. Gave him what I had which wasn't much and dude was like you don't have any dollars? I was like
eyes.gif
, you just asked for the spare change I had. Now, I use credit card for everything so I just tell them I only got the plastic.

I had to help this girl I know who was going through some hard times move into a homeless shelter in LA...%$@ really broke my heart...so I kinda feel for the homeless even more now

But when I was younger, in like 95, some lady asked my dad for some money to get something to eat. We were right next to a McDonalds, so my dad gave her like 5 bucks to get some food. Shorty had the nerve to say "Dont you got a $20? I want some pizza". My dad took his money back and we bounced

Two days ago I was at the taco truck and a homeless guy came up to me asking for money. I offered to buy him a burrito from the truck but he kept saying that the food was better at the restaurant inside (it's exactly the same)

Told dude to kick rocks.

When I used to work at Finish Line a guy came up to me after my shift and asked for money because of a "broken carburetor" and he only needed $185 more. I gave him $5 because I felt bad. Fast forward 3 weeks later same guy comes up to me with the same story. I asked him, "You're carburetor is STILL broken?" No reply, no money given.

The ones that really piss me off though are the drunks who are trying to get extra beer money.

Yesterday a drunk guy (4:30 PM and trashed) asked me for change to get on the bus. I just get done doing manual labor for 8 hours and this guy is plastered asking me for money? Go away.

One night at a gas station dude asked me for gas money to Chicago. Told him hell no that's 60 bucks. The next night he comes and asks for gas to Milwaukee. I'm like bruh you said Chicago yesterday. He just was like oh my bad and asked the next dude. Bums man...
