Mad men is the most overrated boring show ever. It never picks up but the first three seasons were only ok

I could easily back Walt if he killed Jesse. Son has been off the rails for a while now and now he's bringing his crazy to Walt. Yeah so he poisoned Brock, the kid is fine and Jesse isn't even with his moms anymore. Walt wanted to kill Gus so he manipulated a good way to do it. Jesse originally was suspicious it was Walt but he convinced him otherwise, so why go nuts now that you realized Walt lied? Anger is understandable but it'll only get a short leash in this situation. If he keeps bringing this crazy to Walt's family in a situation where his DEA brother-in-law is trying to arrest him he'll be forced to kill and Jesse knows that since he outright said it when Walt tried to get him to leave. This aint even the first time he thought Walt was going to kill him. Not to mention Jesse has his own scumbag tendencies and actions that really doesn't make killing him some line that can't be crossed by Walt.
Also I never figured Jesse would always be the one to survive. To me it's not even surviving. Jesse wanted out, got out and stayed around cuz of guilt and having no goals in life. Walt told him this seasons ago. He has no plan, no real ambition and after doing what he did to get all that money he's even more broken emotionally. Son could've up and left to Vegas for a while now but hey man idle hands.
I'd see Walt killing Jesse as Michael killing Fredo rather than crazy Scarface killing Manny.
To me when we can't back Walt is when he sacrifices his family to save his own skin or to prosper. Jesse has been a dangling loose end since the first part of S5. No half measures.

It's a different show. It is slow paced and doesn't really have much of a direction and I think that's why most people don't like it. I can also see how the plot isn't necessarily attractive to everyone. The writing and acting is really strong though, and although it's not action packed, there are really great moments in the show. I like it but it's a level or two below The Wire and Breaking Bad for me.
But honestly, I don't get why we always have to compare shows, especially when they are fairly different. Like there aren't many similar tones, motifs, etc between The Wire and Breaking Bad. I have a certain ranking for my preference but there's no point in defending one show against another, it's all based on opinion and preference. If you want to rank them, the best thing to do is to take everything into consideration. Writing, acting, plot, intrigue, cinematography, etc.
The thing that separates Breaking Bad from everything else I've ever watched is their attention to detail in their writing. Every little detail is there for a reason and the way they tie in foreshadowing and recurring themes is almost unmatched. The cinematography gets better after every season, just remarkable really. The acting is top notch, I mean people genuinely hate Skyler's character, that has to be a testament to how good of an actress Anna Gunn is. Throw in Bryan Cranston who is simply phenomenal, Aaron Paul, Dean Norris and even Bob Odenkirk who provides comic relief, they're all really good actors. Honestly, I can go on and on about how great Breaking Bad. It's the only show where I can confidently say I have never been bored of it at any point in time. If the show ends well, it's #1 in my books by far.

Mad Men is much more of a character-driven show than a plot-driven show like Breaking Bad. Your enjoyment of it will vary depending on how invested you get into the characters. If you're not into it after Season 1 then you should probably just give up.

^^^ agree with you wholeheartedly...the writing/character development/nuances were constant draws...also, the diversity of the cast of The Wire has never been replicated

I don't believe Jessie will die at all, or Walt. I still think Flynnie P and the baby is in the room, and that'll stop Jessie from burning the house down. Jessie will just shout and cry, and their relationship will be pretty much damaged.

So I was thinking and I may have pulled two theories to connect directly with each other. I’ll put it in spoilers just in case people don’t want to read it. If it has already been mentioned in the thread, then my apologies.
The theories in question:
- Hank committing suicide – Most of the reasoning can be found here () but I’ll also throw in Walt’s fake confession. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, “Hank just found out his medical bills are tied to drug money. If Hank informs the DEA about his suspicions, Walt will release his fake confession. If he can't get Jesse or anyone else to snitch, he doesn't have the evidence to support his claims. That in turn would jeopardize his career, his family, and his life. So he really has two options: let it go or kill himself.”
- Walt faking his own death – We know obviously at this point that Walt skips town based on cold open of S05E0 (i.e. the scene at Denny’s, new identity, picks up M60). Now Walt faking his own death is based on Carol’s reaction in the cold open of S05E09 (first episode of Season 5B). Another thing to consider is the scene in the last episode where Hank, Marie, Walt and Skyler at a restaurant. When Marie tells Walt “just kill yourself,” Walt’s expression shows that he may have come to a realization (http://i.imgur.com/hjLcUw1.png) as if to suggest that maybe he will consider faking his suicide as a plan.
How the two theories tie in together:
- There needs to be a cause for everything to go down but for argument’s sake, let’s say there is enough of a reason based on what we’ll see in the next one or two episodes that will have Walt fake his own death. When the investigation of Walt’s death comes along, the police find the footage of Walt’s fake confession. They now think Hank is the perpetrator of Walt’s “death.” Hank finds about this and figures he only has one option now: commit suicide to avoid his incarceration. Game over for Hank.
I’m 97% sure I’m wrong but man, if I’m right, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek.

LOST was an amazing show up until that last season.... That show was moving the thread faster than this thread. Lots of depth, main characters dying, darma initiative websites, oceanic websites, references in movies, so many theories... Millions of people playing the lottery with 4 8 15 16 23 42. That show had an insane following
all for nothing, thanks to that finale season...
