Breaking Bad Thread - "El Camino" - A Breaking Bad Movie on Netflix 10/11

I side with Skylar.. At first I hated her, but as the series went on Walt started wearing thin on me. It's at the point where I now feel he needs to be killed by the end of the show.

I am sure these have been posted before but they crack me up every time.

Right.
That reason died a long time ago.
Nah b. Skylar is a ****.

Plus everybody loves the bad guy
Why is skylar a ****?
Thank you

U can you easily gloss over walt's TRUE REASON for making this money at this amount!? It's not like it was subtle.

Skylar has never been as bad as u guys make her out to be. She isn't Jenny from forest gump

Do you know how much physical harm Walt as put them at risk for? And a huge part of it was EGO. He could have had his medical bills payed for

Many of u clearly missed a giant monologue from last season. .. It was laid out and it's been a huge mystery for the entire show
Yeah, Walt's monologue about grey matter really put into perspective as to why Walt's not that good of person to root for anymore. As the season 5 went on, you can see how superior Gus is to Walt.
The fact everyone hates her tells you how great she is at her job.
I don't think it does.

I think she does a great job if she has made the people who hated or disliked her to like her or to not hate her anymore.

^That very last part isn't going to happen. This show isn't centered around her and given the final season is already in play don't expect any sort of turn around or redemption arc for Skylar. This the conclusion and we'll see how she dies or survives. I mean if you stepped and looked at her current situation you could get ppl to sympathize but nothing she's doing is opening the door for ppl to like her. So when you add in history it's pretty apparent why ppl would continue to dislike her or be indifferent. I know many just look at her as a foil to mess up Walt's plans. PPL like me that have sided with Walt more than others (and don't necessarily think the "bad guy" has to die) would prefer her dead asap.

That's not what I was implying. Skylar has changed a lot since the first season. Those who can see that either like her or don't dislike her as much. Those who don't just found more reasons to hate her, such as what big j said about being in the way. I don't like Skylar. Some people who like Skylar say that they like her because she's "the person who protects her family from the man who protects her family." Once she established herself as such, I realized that my dislike of Skylar was clouded because I didn't like minor conflicts conflicting with Walt's agenda. Consequently, my opinion of Skylar changed. There's no valid reason as to why Skylar should die. Wanting her to die is ridiculous. Mainly because, she's been helping Walt launder money and taking flack for the separation.

This right here.

What has she done to deserve hatred from anybody? She's stuck by Walt's side through everything regardless of how much danger Walt has put her and their family through. You guys just root for Walt because the big bad drug dealer, but at the end of the day, he's an egotistical, obsessive-compulsive liar and murderer. She could have easily gone to Hank and come clean about everything, but she chooses to launder his money and live in the same house with him even though he disgusts her at this point. Not only that but she's been the "bad guy" in this whole situation. Everyone has sympathy for Walt because he had cancer, but Skylar is seen as the bad unfaithful wife. If anybody needs to die, it's Walt.

Wanting Skylar dead has a lot of backing behind it. Her constant doubting of Walt throughout the show, lack of loyalty, and being untrustworthy. Yes she's laundering money and for now you could say her actions say otherwise than her words but she's looked for every reason to go to the cops and seemed to bring it up in most scenes with Walt since she found out the truth. Stuff like that cluster**** with whats his name who broke his neck can easily get her killed. Pulling stunts like jumping in to pools after dinner with family is not what's gonna keep you alive.

Plus it can be as petty as Walt being tired of dealing with her. Some situation will arise where she went too far and he thinks he has to kill her and does but he'll realize he didn't really have to after he's done it. Same with Mike. In the end, she'll die cuz Walt wants her dead.

But I've been thinking for a while now she'll actually be a causality of what she's been complaining about all this time.

No she has not. Are ppl forgetting the entire season she tried to get a divorce, made him move out, cheated on him with her former friend/boss, tried her hardest to keep their kids from him, etc. and that's all before she even knew what Walt was actually doing. She just wanted to ditch the guy with cancer for what she thought he was doing and her own problems.

Walt's is those things and had to be those things because of how his life ended up. Call it an escalated mid-life crisis with the added expiration date and this whole series has been his bucket list. You can dislike that but Skylar is no saint. This isn't about comparing who has done worse or even who deserves to die so no need to string out a list. Skylar has done wrong for bad hurtful reasons that's a reflection of herself nothing that Walt forced her to do.

but what annoyed me was every single episode comments like "Skylar's gotta die" or "I hate that B" and it just got old.

Cancer make a man do crazy things. She didn't know what was happening then just that he was sneaking around. She got vindictive and spiteful when Walt wouldn't sign the divorce papers and purposely let him know she was cheating on him.

Either way you're wrong about her sticking by him. That's not how it went down at all. She's not even sticking by him "regardless" of the danger and everything else. Walt basically had to blackmail her in to that situation she'd act right too then.

Let my man cook.

That's exactly what was tiresome

I mean, I'm not even a Skylar fan or anything... but I just defend against the exaggerated hate.

There's so many great things to discuss every episode that focusing on a character I dislike isn't one of them

Since she hurt the person who almost got her family killed she should die...lol wut?

Walt has clearly shown that he isn't deserving of any of those qualities from his wife.

Given her situation, I think that her suicide attempt isn't that far-fetched. She can't talk to anyone about this. While Walt can have father-son time with Jesse.

I don't think that Walt will kill Skylar. It's not necessary.

She did that because she had her suspicions about what Walt was doing and Walt couldn't come up with a credible lie. She knew he was lying and she eventually figured out that he was selling drugs. Since her suspicions were right, everything she did besides cheating was done to protect her familia were justified. Walt forced her to take the blame, Walt forced her into thinking about divorcing him, and Walt forced her to worry every night that someone was going to walk into her home and shoot up her familia. The only bad thing that I think holds weight in your post is that she cheated on him, whoopity doo.

She should die for story reasons really. This is Walt's story and journey and I feel her dying would play in to the conclusion of his journey and really make him face reality of what he's done. I don't see them killing the baby or the handicapped Walter Jr. so she's a prime target. I've already said how I think she would die but there's many options and one is Walt killing her but maybe you don't think he's crossed over that line yet.

She could die for hurting Walt, should she? That's up to Walt. Did not call her stunt far fetched and it was a stunt, not a suicide attempt. Real suicide attempts have the actual intent of taking one's own life. If you recall the episode she pulled that stunt for a reason. Do you remember? That ended up getting the kid's staying with Marie. If you seriously think Skylar jumping in the pool and not getting out after dinner in front of her husband, sister, and brother-in-law was a real suicide attempt there's a real disconnect with how we're understanding the narrative of the story, that entire season, and that episode.

All you're doing now is just rationalizing what she's done trying to make it seem reasonable and less credible for why she should be killed. She did not kick Walt out cuz she thought she was protecting her family. Go back and watch the eps. She did that out of spite. She did that to hurt Walt. It was only until after she found out that she was on this protect her family from Walt talk. So maybe you're arguing from a different part in the story or something. She initially did not kick him out cuz she thought he was a danger to her family. She just left him. Walt tries to explain and she says she doesn't wan to know the truth and is to scared to want to know. It's only until later in S3 that Walt tells her.

Anyway this whole Skylar isn't that bad cuz she's trying to protect her family is bull **** anyway. Can't really play that card when she volunteers to launder the money her way and gets involved with a business she allegedly is scared might harm her family. She didn't do that under duress and Walt definitely didn't force her to. She forced her way in. Hell the only reason she even started thinking about danger to the family again is when Walt brought it up and told her things and the occasion or two he got ****** up. Walt basically tells her the deal when she tries to cry wolf again. If he goes to jail, she does too.
