Breaking Bad Thread - "El Camino" - A Breaking Bad Movie on Netflix 10/11

As for the theories about him killing himself by smoking the ricin... can we just rid ourselves of any predictions where someone kills themselves?

Gilligan has spent so much time letting his viewers form a bond with Jesse and Walt, and he's not going to go morbid on the whole bit and have the viewers sitting at home as one of their favorite characters kills himself and that's the final episode. So will he be morbid? No... but will he go cold-blooded on the bit? Definitely expect him to. I could totally see Walt/Jesse dying from being killed by somebody or one another, but he's not going to have either of them kill themselves.

LOL @ some prop guy going out and buying the biggest butt plug he could find and managing to get it on the set with no questions assed..

I don't see someone with no history of drug use ODing in the final 7 episodes. It would be bizarre for Skyler.. Not to mention go against protecting the kids which has been her primary goal.
skylar was smoking while she was pregnant.  what yall have to understand about her character is she doesnt care about the kids anymore than walt does supposedly, but she will use them to win an argument and keep her moral high ground against walt.

in all reality, walt free with all that money would be able to provide for his kids kids, so her harping down on him is just her brownnosing, self-serving higher than thou attitude manifesting in "what about the kids!?!?!"

she cant even beg walt to stop for her sake because she knows what a miserable shrew she is, so of course its about the kids.

at the end of the day, skylar will do anything to make walt suffer.

edit:  marie gets a lot of hate, but she has always supported and stood by hank.  when he goes thru stuff, she is there to support him in understanding and loving way skylar never could with walt because she cant get over herself.

And  Marie stood by Hank when he beat Jesse and during his physical therapy.. It's in no way comparable to standing by your husband when you find out he cooks crystal. See past your hate for her because that point makes no sense

i was only comparing them to illustrate the difference between walt and hank.  hank had the support of his wife and was succesful, although clearly not cut out for all of what the job entailed. walt was constantly undermined and was a slumly teacher with intellect far greater.

when marie was a klepto hank worked with her and understood.  when did skylar ever try to look at things from walts perspective?  i would think as his wife its the least thing she could do before deciding that its so terrible then to only kinda sorta bad because you can now sponsor your boyfriend.

my whole thing is with a more supportive, understanding skylar, we may not have come to this point. he may have decided after three mil it was enough, but a constant factor in heisenberg's rise to power has been skylars power of holy judgement over walt.

Yeah, was it her fault he took the buyout from Grey Matter? Did she make him settle and miss out on all that success?

The answer is no because she wasn't in the picture yet. Skyler and their marriage played a factor in Walt turning into Heisenberg, but he's always had this other side to him waiting to be released. You're placing way too much blame on her.

Walt not living up to his potential was an issue well before they got together.

we're talking about a dude won a nobel peace prize. if he ended up teaching high school it was under duress of a shrew wife keeping him under her thumb.  i dont think he was short of opportunities, just patience listening to skylar control him.

i dont think they ever touched on the time difference between gretchen and skylar, but either way when we are introduced to them buying the house, walt is still optimistic about himself, not yet dragged down by the effect of living, wondering if every decision will meet skylars approval.

now im not solely placing blame on her, i outlined earlier what i believe to be at his core.  however, i believe she has been the one tangible source of antagonsim for walt in his life.  she was basically a young, dumb broad who caught an old fool who didnt know any better.

as i said, gretchen and gray matter are another issue.  mainly being she, knowing of his ailing fathers situation most presumably, went on to take him to the hamptons in to show him off as her genius in front of her high falutin parents. in this situation he was being shown his inadequacies and being taken advantage of.

along comes skylar who tells him he is adequate, with the catch being that he will be adequate to be subservient and taken advantage of as well.

think back to when the show began, skylar wanted to be a fugasi novelist writing crappy books she was too ashamed to let marie read, but instead acting like she is too good an author for maries lowly eyes to lay upon her masterpieces of literature.  not to mention her crap pottery she was nickel and diming online, her theft of peoples money was worse than maries kleptomania for that trash.  yet thru and thru, the one constant is that skylar is best, she believes she is the best and that she knows best, but most of all, must know all as well.

edit: think about it like this.  imagine walt, with a pregnant skylar in his ear selling last piece of his soul in grey matter for 5,000 because he has a baby on the way.

or walt, wanting to start up a new business, but cant take risks like that because he has a physically disabled child to think about.  he better take low salary w benefits job or there will be hell to pay

A: Oh man, he’s a good actor. But it was easy because Vince Gilligan told us exactly what went down between the characters off screen: We were very much in love and we were to get married. And he came home and met my family, and I come from this really successful, wealthy family, and that knocks him on his side. He couldn’t deal with this inferiority he felt — this lack of connection to privilege. It made him terrified, and he literally just left me, and I was devastated. Walt is fighting his way out of going back to that emotional place, so he says, “F— you.”

He left Grey Matter before he met Skyler.

It's also been explained in a prior episode that he worked at a place called Application Labs then another lab when he met Skyler who was a waitress at the time.

Also, how on Earth are you blaming his failings on her? He was under duress? Maybe he's difficult to work with and can't compromise? Considering we've seen that happen throughout the show.

i never said she was, i was being hypothetical about her making him sell, thats why after that i included another hypothetical as for how he ended up teaching high school.

i wasnt aware that he had to sell share as soon as he stopped working there, or as soon as he and gretchen broke up.  i thought it was more like they took some years to develop grey matter in his absence, and only after capitalizing upon his endeavors offered him that pittance for his "share".

edit:  yea she said what i said, she showed him he was inadeqaute, and subsequently took advantage leaving him devestated.

skylar being a waitress supports my idea that she was generally not that brilliant.

i never solely blamed skylar, but i acknowledge she is a source, the others being his father and grey matter.

i dont remember application labs, but as far as him being hard to work with, all i saw was him actually teaching jesse and enabling him to come up with ideas like the magnet and the heist, actually benefitting jesse and improving him.

All I meant by him trying his own meth was if he was gonna kill himself (which I doubt he'll do) but if he's shot and dying maybe it'd be a cool way to go out or if he literally loses everything (Jr, Holly, etc. all dead) he uses it. Not OD though.
It'd be cool if in the end if Walt's going to die or even if he just loses everything he actually smokes his own product for the first time with a final dope song to finish it.

Bryan Cranston is the one that said that.
oh was it? i thought i read it on here
It was posted in this thread but they were quoting Cranston

Dude... Just give it up... You're argument simply doesn't make sense

Skylar may not be showcased with the most redeemable qualities, but to blame her for walts shortcomings and place in life is ridiculous.

And there is also no instance of skylar stopping Walt from doing anything he wanted to do. She may have attempted to discourage things once she found out some of the illegal activities (which is understandable), but Walt still managed to do what he pleased.

It seems like I'm putting a cape on for skylar but you guys need to think more realistically about the situations.

Why are you so damn hostile? This is a discussion, not an argument. You are not the writer. You are not VG.

It is true that if Skylar was more supportive Walt possibly wouldn't have become what he is. It's true the Gray Matter frustration would be always there as potential to create this other side of Walt but things were compounded by the fact that he was the ***** in his marriage with a domineering wife and his son was a cripple.

So yeah that one simple thing like Skylar being a bit more like Marie could've changed everything but that's a situation that'd have to be changed once the marriage started.

Also, Skylar had washed her hands of Walt the second said he was cooking meth. She had one foot out the door once she knew he was lying and hiding something. So yall can't say she was ever really there for him. At that point him having cancer didn't matter.

I don't agree with Skylar not caring about the kids and wanting to do anything so she can be right and have the moral high ground. After she started begging Walt to stop and he wouldn't with his scary explanations she legit got scared and feared for hers and her family's life. She didn't want to be near this from the start but once Walt proved he wasn't going anywhere no matter w/e vindictive thing she did she gave up and gave in.

I doubt we're gonna see much more of *****y Skylar the rest of this season. Hope she just gonna be shook until something or someone kills her.

My theory?

Walt's gonna use that ricin to poison a batch of meth and cause mass death

I'm not gonna, lie that would be so dope if he did that

I can see Walt do that

Get all the attention off him cause of the epidemic and then dissapear - and then uses his M60 like some people hang up their old rifles (or muskets) on their wall. :pimp:

He comes back home to NH to his family with new identities: Walt as Gale Boetticher, everyone else takes the last name. Walt Jr. stays as Flynn, Skyler as Gretchen & the baby as Blue Pebbles.

The End

The talk is heavy but to rest all...lets keep the show for what it is...enjoy the rise and POTENTIAL fall of one of the greatest to ever give us a cable television performance real ****
