For me it's listening to music via vinyl. Nothing sounds like it and nothing sounds as good. It will always be the king format.

Same. I aint never DJ a day in my life. I don't think I'd be good at it. I'd play for myself not the crowd

I started out using them for sample material but then I just became a collector.

I'll try to post some things.

I haven't seen that album but it looks to me like some sort of compilation thing.

The song is "The Danube Incident" by Lalo Schifrin.

amohoop you should try stopping by Needle to the Groove in Fremont if you have the chance. So many used records and they're all cleaned too in exception for the dollar bin ones.

I've posted about Lalo Schifrin several times in various threads in the music section. I love his stuff. Sadly, my turntable went up about 2 months ago. I had a hand me down Marantz. It needs a new motor which isn't too expensive but I'm using the situation as an excuse to buy a new one. It'll be a minute before I get a new one because I gotta do somethings for the house. The few records I got are pack up for now because I'm redoing my "activity room" which is the home office/listening room so I can't get to my stuff for photos. My grail right now is finding Quincy Jones Summer In the City without having to order it over the internets.

Ruxxx- (jokinngly) you're showing off now. LOL. Really everything is nice like rice man, but that Bob James.....Wow.

Joe Cool- That Prince collection is nice. Questlove would be very proud....He's a huge Prince fan...

Let's keep this thread going. Nice creation OP...

Yo, thanks for the suggestion! I need to diversify my spots so i can go digging more than once every couple of months. I will def hit that place up in the near future.

Bookmarking this. I very recently decided to start collecting vinyl, kind of out of the blue. I have no idea what I'm doing really but that's kind of the fun of it. Plus i live in Akron OH (fml) so I know there arent many spots around here. First vinyl I got was "One In a Million LP" by Aaliyah. Ive always loved her voice so I figured itd be a good one to start off with.

Random story: When I was younger, we moved into a house that had boxes and boxes of old records in them. I was in abt 4th grade at the time so I didn't care. One day, my sisters' and I found out that vinly makes GREAT frisbees and we thought it was sweet when they broke after impact. One day we decided to go outside with all the vinyl and throw them at an abandoned house to watch em break...my mom came home from work, saw what we were doing and beat the %%!$ out of us...I wonder what heat we destroyed in that collection. C'est la vie.

^^

Goooooooooood... Gooooooooooood.

I would post more #*+%,but i'm tired as hell right now (and a little sick).

Gr8blkhope... i'm giving you very dirty looks right now.

I started collecting last year.. 1 per month. Best deal so far has been sealed Lupe Fiasco - The Cool sealed for $16.. both it and Food & Liquor are rare/expensive (relatively speaking) considering their release dates.

Reasons I started:

1. Album Art
2. Tradition
3. Audiophile experience
4. Collection appeal

Plan to make GZA - Liquid Swords my next purchase. Glad it was repressed recently cause the prices were getting out of hand.

I just wish Amazon would actually put up deals on vinyl once in a while. They sent me an e-mail about this advertising vinyl specials but the prices were retail.. lol.

Love Discogs, recommend it to everyone.

I just grabbed a few things with breaks and some other uncommon joints.

(Cropped to hide my horrendous photography skills

I'll record some breaks here in a bit...need to plug my table up and all that.

Nice.

The only joints I have out of the ones shown are the Bill Cosby joint,The Moments joint ("Sexy Mama" is

) and The Temptations joint (funky *$@ album right there).

I'm a bit "jelly" that you have a Weldon Irvine LP in your stash. I have NONE. "Spirit Man" is the one i'm REALLY after.

I wish I made more money and could afford to buy vinyl like I do CD's

Thanks Ruxxx.

My damn needle broke but I have most of these breaks on my PC for production purposes...will post mix tomorrow.

Yo NinerFaithful, I hope that wasn't your collection. Damn. I don't think that person put together that shelf unit properly. A buddy of mine who DJs has about 6-7 of those in his house, 2 of which are on casters so we can move them around in his house & they've never fallen apart.

PLVN-
Can't wait to hear your mix....Nice pics also...

I think this is going to be the next turntable I get, the Pro-Ject III USB. You guys are motivating me to get my room finished....
