Joey Bada$$ 1999 mixtape - Page 2

This +#* is straight dust.

You dudes have been waiting for someone to come out with decent lyrical talent who doesn't rap on Lex Luger beats so you can call him ''the savior of hip hop''.

If son wants a future he's gonna have to change his style up. You can still be lyrical, but the beats are gonna need to change. Also ''Joey Bada$$''? Really? That name wouldn't even work in the 90's it's definitely not gonna work in 2012. I mean money symbols? Really?

Son has some talent I won't deny that but he needs to change some things if he wants to blow up. He's only 17 so he can grow as an artist (hopefully).

So far so good. Give it a chance. The tape is nice , yes it sounds like 90s rap but to be honest its pretty damn good . He's got skills .

I am very impressed

edit: also I recognize that beat on Survival Tactics from somewhere, I know its Big L but can't think of the song right now.

I'll take a kid that sounds like an average 90s dude over 95% of these garbage !!# new cats any day of the week. For me, even average cats back then %$$$ on most of the disposable hip-hop we have today.
tape is dope. average? let's see ya'll on the mic and find out what average is.

dont compare earl to this cat, bada$$ and earl are in different lanes imo and both excel in their own rights

Word smiley: laugh. I'd take this over a generic trap tape any day and the kid can really spit. Great debut for someone so young.

Listened to the tape and dude can spit. Production was dope too.

and people wonder why I hate on Casey Veggies so much. Yeah...this dude is pretty nice

I'm a fan. You can tell dude is a student on hip-hop. How many 17 years olds you know have ever even heard of Lord Finnese? Or know where thr hook " Who the f&$@ passed you the mic and said that you could flow..."? This tape is pimp.gif and like someone said before he's a young cat so there is definitely a lot of room for growth.
i love the production on this tape. all them old school chillout beats. he can spit and im a supporter of him he will only get better if he puts the time into it and he will be a beast
post #53 of 1186
Wow. From the production to the lyrics, this is pretty damn good.

All I've been listening to since it dropped.

That's off Infinite, right? I wasn't sure if it was used somewhere else, because not a lot of people have even heard Infinite.

All those references he makes just take me back.pimp.gif

I just listened to the tape and wow pimp.gif

Im convinced son took a time machine back to '94 and recorded the album. The last track was a very good posse cut. Everybody went in, I thought before I even listen to it that I was gonna skip that track. And he ripped the Doom tracks too pimp.gif
