Joey Bada$$ 1999 mixtape

They were going to drop King Capital earlier this month but then Joey said it was cancelled. By the way he worded it, it sounded like they were going to sell it eventually.

I dig Killuminati Pt 2. Nice Lil jab at Kendrick....I think unlike some other rappers he addressed the situation well in the spirit of competition.

Didn't really like it, and his flow was annoying. But if he responded this late, I'm at least glad he didn't use the same beat.

This ***** has got to realize that you can't rehash an era that your not from. I like that's he's lyrical i hate that he FORCES the **** out of this 90's NYC rap thing.

He would be butter if he linked up with Harry Fraud for production . . .

That would actually be a big improvement Fraud keeps elements of that old NYC but it still sounds fresh... an entire project or even justan EP would def work out well for him.

i was feelin the track :smokin

& while i do like that classic 90's sound he brings, i agree that more harry fraud production in his catalog would be a nice touch. as mentioned, it has a fresh sound while still having some old school vibes to it.

I kinda understand the criticism for Joey regarding his sound but then again I don't. What is funny is I think he has plenty of tracks on SK that has that 90's vibe but still sounds fresh and I like how his sound evolved from 1999. What people criticize him for is one of the things I actually like about him as an artist. I think some just don't like the 90's sound or his style at all and thats cool he's not gonna be everyone's cup of tea.

I like Harry Fraud's production and I think they work well together. Joey just tweeted a few weeks ago that he recorded a new track with Fraud. I am sure there will be more in the works.

Lyrically its not amazing but not bad either. Some clever wordplay but I can see peoples complaints about his flow. I do think he is overusing the aggressive voice/flow a bit much lately.

I think he needs to find himself and have his own voice. He also needs more personality in his music.

He'll get tours and a little spin, but part of the 90's was being original.

Right know he's just another underground rapper that will put out a ton of mixtapes, but never get beyond this buzz he has now.

^Fair criticism in regards to your first 2 points...I think one of the things people forget with Joey is that he is 18!! He still has a ton of growing to do personally and as an artist. I know we live in an age where we expect instant results but we have to give him some time.

I think Joey like other artist I have recently watched grow (J. Cole & Kendrick) wants to improve his craft and will work hard to do so. I have no reason to believe that he won't do that.

Not Joey but might as well throw it in this thread:

I'm waiting on all these Pro Era solo projects. Him, CJ Fly, Dessy, Kirk Knight, Chuck should all have some solid ****.
