Air Jordan XX8 aka 2013, new "Proplate Zoom" Technology OFFICIAL THREAD.

You guys really dont get the concept of this shoe. Its designed around stealth. Peoeple are complaining about the shoe being too high, but when you look at it, if you wear high socks with the shoe (which is majority of this generation) it will blend in. Like the shoe will be an extension of the body. So to sum it up, Yes I will be buying this shoe. And me coming from the military (been out since 09) Me wearing this shoe will not be weird to me. Actually it will give me flash backs of going into battle lol and thats what I NEED, when I play ball.

As someone who is still serving, I think the whole stealth thing is a gimmick. Any time while flying for the military or playing basketball I haven't thought " damn! I'm glad my shoes are stealthy!" If anything, I've appreciated something comfortable and reliable. Not to go to deep into the politics of it, but Jordan's do often remind of planes in the Air Force. They often get a new gimmick and charge some absurd contract price for the sake of "innovation" With all that said, how about designing a shoe that's best able to serve the player. If you want throw the "stealth" idea around cause you like military influences and what not cool, but don't make it seem like that dude totally cut back door on me cause those stealth 28's he had on, only if I could afford those. And after all that, I'm one of the few who actually do like the shoe. And will be probably buying them once they are on sale cause despite the gimmicks the last few Jordan's have performed exceptionally well.

With these I wonder if some reaction is better than no reaction, because the 2012's and 11's(are they the 26's and 27's now) got no reaction and flopped. These have some hype, so is some hype better than no hype? People say negative press is better than no press. If the price was more reasonable I think they would do better.

I'm interested in seeing how these play out :nerd:

I sort of understand the concept of the shoe and to be honest they didn't look bad when Russ was wearing them. I guess in some way its supposed have an offcourt appeal that is a little more than casual when zipped up and with jeans. I think that Jordan can make his flagship shoe a perfect blend of being a beautiful, upscale shoe that can be worn with jeans and a button down shirt on a night out of the town and seamlessly transition into on court performance beast. If that can be done than the hype and the price can be justified. I think the "flight" and "bird" concept of the shoe could have been improved with a little more effort. I will surely cop these shoes but on discount only.

Why would he wear them tonight? Their unis are white, wait til more cw's come out (like a white one) and I guarantee he'll be wearing them again.
And? He wore the black and neon greens with their navy and white jersey....

Dark jersey, dark shoes? All I'm saying is he won't be wearing black shoes with a white jersey, it just doesn't look right. And thats why he isnt wearing them tonight, not because he doesnt like them.

If he really liked the shoes you don't think the future star endorser of JB can't pull weight and say give me a special OKC makeup of the XX8 if he really desired to wear it again? JB would oblige him with the quickness and have a workshop in China make it it in a couple of hours and ship them overnight to OKC.

JB wanted him to wear it that particular night to coincide with the official unveiling and build hype.

Magic you've been here long enough to know how well overpriced sigs have fared. These will simply NOT move at that price point - far too expensive and even at a 30% markdown people will find zippers and the ridiculously high cut a nuisance for everyday wear. These will fill the back wall spots that the 2012s are currently occupying with a markdown price of $80.

you will find these shoes at Ross guaranteed. Where 09-11 held spots with the 12s coming soon. $50 too.

If footlocker could not sell the XVII back in the day with the suitcase for $200 with jordan even sporting them during the Wiz days, just imagine these shoes. :x

Just remember so vividly seeing the suitcases piled on the floor in the middle of the store with no one even looking at them with a markdown price of $175.

Why does JB always try to push horrible concepts on us - like the shroud - and abandon all the great ideas it was known for :smh:

only the last one is of interest to me, the rest were pretty obvious.

"Josh Heard and Tinker spent a few minutes discussing the original colorway. Both said they wanted a stealth, tough-looking shoe that should look nasty and intimidating on court. Yet, they also mentioned that this shoe will see more colorways (over 20) than any other basketball shoe they’ve created, including an upcoming bamboo makeup. Stay tuned."

These look decent zipped down!

They look.....different zipped up. My legs are quite large, so I don't think that they would be able to be zipped up all the way anyways

I'm saying this now, when people start actually getting them on feet there will be a change in opinion (especially guys who will be wearing them to actually play basketball).

As far as them being compared to the Payton's or any other Nike (or Reebok shoe for that matter) these feel much different than any of those shoes zippered up. For instance I love the Flightposite 2, but zippering that shoe up all the way makes me feel like I'm cutting off the circulation in my foot the xx8 doesn't feel like that. It has almost a perfect balance between support and breathability. The one issue one of my people did have with them was when they tried to zipper the shoe up wearing thick socks it became a struggle, but once they were zippered up they didn't feel tight.

my take on the rumored bamboo, Tinker either goes with an all green upper with brown/khaki accents or yellowish brown upper with green accents.
