Magic, Jordan, Kobe and Lebron Vol. First RING numbers.

Those Shaq 2000 Finals stats

How can you be the greatest Laker if you didn't spend your entire career there. To me, the greatest Laker comes down to ONLY two people: Magic and Kobe.

I can't disagree you if you say either. Magic revolutionized the entire game of basketball at the time and that simply cannot be ignored when discussing greatness. And to most, he's the best PG of all time.

But Jordan is the greatest ever and Kobe is the closest thing we've seen to him.

It cracks me up how almost all Laker fans look for reasons to make Shaq worse and hate on him despite the fact that he made your team relevant again and led them to 3 championships.

Until Phil Jackson came to L.A., Shaq's Lakers were getting put out of the playoffs by the Jazz & Spurs while playing along side 2 all star guards (Nick & Eddie) not to mention only playing 51 & 60 games in 96/97 & 97/98 seasons . Yeah, he dedicated himself in 99-00 and was a monster but after he got back to coasting in the regular season till the playoffs. So Phil Jackson (and some say Kobe emerging) made the Shaq Lakers champions instead of just "relevant".
As for the nonsense about Kobe NOT being a top 5 Laker...if you go by stats alone and tenure as a Laker then Kobe will be the top Laker when he's done. If you go by individual numbers and the player's number with other teams then of course its Kareem & Wilt. But for the top Lakers and their work done as a Laker then its Magic & Kobe in my opinion

With his ineptitude as an analyst, you forget sometimes how much of a beast he was in his prime.

Quick question for you lakers fans. If Kobe=the greatest laker of all time, that means he's clearly better than Magic, who's consensus Top 5.

Do you guys honestly believe that? I don't. That's just my opinion though.

Also, somebody said it earlier..but a lot of Laker fans seem kind of ungrateful to Shaq. the same thing seems to be happening with gasol. Even D. Fish to an extent.

No shots at Lakers fans, bout some of you seem to forget some of the guys that had HUGE parts in your success. Thoughts?

Jordan's first championship was the very peak of his career.

It's the best combination of statistical dominance and success/winning in his career. Averaging 11 assists during those finals and shooting 54% from the floor that season was just sick.

Video game like. Dude had 23 FGA on a ridiculous shooting percentage and still enough time to rack up 11 assists.

Absurd.e.

Yall Kobe haters forgot how big Kobe played in game 4 of the Finals in 2000 when Shaq fouled out ? Dude put his team on his back and carried them to the victory . It was a classic game

And then those WCF games against the Portland where he was lock down defender and was the main facilitator on the team

Yall act like Kobe was some role player in his first ring. He EARNED his ring. He might not been the most dominant player on the team but he put in work

Kobe Shaq. The most dominant 1-2 punch combo ever in NBA history

Because most of the shots were dunks and lay up. Assists is overrated. You can make the prettiest pass in the world but if your teammate don't convert the shot you don't get jack.

Even if that's true, what exactly is your point?

What about the remaining 95+% of the 2000 finals, where Shaq wasn't in a fouled out state?

What about the game where Kobe played only 9 minutes and the Lakers still won behind Shaq's 40 points on 11-18 shooting, 24 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks? That made it evident that Shaq was so dominant that he could've won with many other PG-SG-SF all-stars as his #2 guy.

Kobe in the 2000 finals:

15.6 ppg on .367 shooting
4.6 rpg
4.2 apg

How exactly does 3 rings surpass 5 (for now)?

And again, the dude has 1 ring in 9 years. STOP getting ahead of yourselves.

Jerry West opinion > than some strangers on a message board. The logo said Kobe was the GLOAT.

Secondly, it's not that we are ungrateful of shaq and gasol, but when you haters try to discredit Kobe's rings who do you think we're going to defend? I mean the guy has given us 5 rings and 15 amazing seasons.

Michael Jordan's opinion in 2001 was Kwame Brown was the best player in the draft. Just cause you're an amazing player doesn't mean your opinion is good

I cant stand when dudes act like layups and dunks are given and not created and earned.  Those are the best points in basketball.  And I guess assists no longer mean anything.  Guys like Magic Johnson and John Stockton were only good cause their teammates made shots that they had no part in creating

Magic

either way Kobe is still in the top 5.

but there is no logical argument that can be made for kobe being in the top 5 greatest players ever.

Ok lol! Kobe smang your girl plehboi?
