So Ig'nant
Could he even do that with a California plate like that? But I also noticed the 11-99 plate holder so I'm sure he gets away with it

I was also wondering.

I would love to own a 360 Modena or an F430 right now. I was so close to owning a 2002 360 Modena but I didn't want to get killed with the maintenance.
And at praising the Evos history like it's being compared to a Civic. This is Ferrari we are talking about, probably has the richest racing history in the world and you put Evos history over it?

F an Evo, I'll take a 360/F430 any time, any day over it.

Don't get me wrong, I love the 360/430 and especially the 360, but I've seen both over the past few months and no one really even looks at it anymore like they used to. To people who don't know, the 458 made them obsolete.

I'd take the Evo X over the 360/430, no joke. I was kidding with the Evo >>> 458 post, but I love the Evo.

What?

 Obsolete?
And you saw both over a few months and figured no one looks at it anymore?

Did you survey everyone that was around you and everyone agreed it's obsolete because of the 458?

Go to Rodeo Drive and when you see a F430/360 parked in front of the Gucci store the tourist flocks over it like it's a million dollar car.

And to say that while praising the Evo and it's history like it's a rare car, which is a suited up Lancer (which is as common as a Civic) and yes those "people who don't know" (same people who thought the 458 made the 430/360 obsolote?) sees it just that, a Lancer with a body kit. Honest to god I saw 4-5 Evos today alone and didn't even look twice.

See now we must have different experiences because both cars I saw were in tourist parts of Boston and yes, I saw dozens of people just walk by them like they were normal cars. I got to see a red 458 in the same area and cell phones were flying out like crazy. I don't agree with it, I like the 360 more than the 458 which I like more than the 430.

How is the Evo a Lancer with a body kit?

I've seen you argue with ninjahood over cars so I know obviously you aren't going to like the Evo as much because it's a normal car with a less than average interior which is made for performance. You don't like it, tons of people don't like it because they feel while it's a better Lancer, it's still a Lancer. I get to see an Evo maybe once every week and I still stare like it's my first one. I do the same for any Ferrari, so it's not like I'm a hypebeast who worships JDM cars and trashes on other ones.

dude, people who don't know cars go "oh wow a ferrari" same people will not even know what an evo is.  if you know what a 458 is, the model... not just that it's a ferarri, i'm sure you wont hate on the 430 and 360 just because it's older.

guise what's an evo?
my point i was trying to make.

it's a budget car, fast, mod friendly sedan. garbage interior but quick as hell and cheap. based off the lancer.

I wouldn't do the gumball in anything less than an m3, the mustangs and camaros look so poor out there.
How is the fee more than the damn car,

That's what I'm saying. Only people who like cars will even know what the 360/430 are. Except a lot of people just like what's the latest and coolest, which is the 458 right now.

No one should be hating on any car, especially the 360/430 or the Evo. I hope I didn't come across as hating on the earlier model Ferraris, I was trying to say that most people, who don't follow cars, aren't going to acknowledge it and instead just pine for the 458. All cars are great in my book.

i see it as people who don't know cars won't even know what a 458 is either. all they see is the horse.

Bro, read what I wrote again. I clearly said the same people who you think does not care or know how to separate the 360/430 from the 458 and only sees it as an old Ferrari also do not know how differentiate an Evo from a Lancer. And really, debadge an Evo and the general public will see it as that. And yes, there are people out there who de-badge their Lancers and put cheap Evo body kits and fart can exhaust to try and fool people and sadly it is more common than you think.
The point is you're saying the 360/430 is obsolete to the general public because of the 458 yet continue to praise and glamorize the Evo and even mention it'll get respect because of it's history when it is in fact originally a Lancer and a Ferrari is a Ferrari is a Ferrari. You don't need to know Ferraris history and which is which, it is a Ferrari and that prancing horse says plenty. It makes your statement even more ridiculous because even those who own the Evo VIII-X and claim themselves to be "tuners" likely have no idea of any prior Evos that never made it to the US let alone the general public who has even less knowledge about Evos history.

i remember a dude here had an evo IX a few years ago. thing was beat to hell though.

Now RX, not knocking you but that's just dumbtalk. The EVO is not a suited up Lancer. Nothing about the drivetrain components, engine, or overall driving dynamics is the same.

I mean TECHNICALLY he is right. It is a Lancer Evolution.

But yeah, nothing about a Lancer and Evo is the same in regards to basically everything else.

My old roommate rode passenger in the Bugatti last year when they stopped in Toronto. His cousin was the driver for all of the tour. Worked for some guy in Dallas or Austin.

Told me that within in the Bugatti, once you turn a second key located next to the driver seat to unlock the upper limit of HP, you automatically void warranty lol.

Maybe some of you guys knew that lol. But that's dope.

Is nobody reading what RFX is saying?

Read the part of the sentence I wrote after the parts you bolded. I knew writing that that people would take it too literally.
And come on now, let's be real. It's a "Lancer Evo". Everything on the inside might be different but it's part of the name for gods sake. Suited up could mean not ******, new engine, new suspension, etc... Nothing wrong with that but it is a Lancer.

Now, don't take offense if you like it or own one, it's a beast on the track and definitely a great car for the price but it is what it is and what it is is a Lancer no matter how you look at it. And again, I was comparing to SCshifts description of "people" ignoring the 430/360 because the 458 made it obsolete to those who sees an Evo and apparently praise it for it's history.

And I swear, I was watching Top Gear @ BBC America last night and it was the episode where Clarkson reviewed the F430. Car is just a beauty.

Then I see a post at Bimmerpost with these (Denver cruise):

I've driven plenty of Evos in various mod stages, from VIII-X, along with other extremely fast cars.  While they are fast, they are not comparable to any Supercar.  The feeling is just different..  I would easily pick a 360 over any Evo, at any stage easily.  Reminds me of people debating whether to get a new M3 or a used 360 several years ago.

Who would have thought that a Gumball 3000 thread would turn into Evo vs 360/430
laugh.gif

Ferrari all day just because of the seating position, sound, history, etc. After 2 hours in a friends Supra TT, getting back in my evo felt like driving a truck (regarding its height). Yes it is a track beast, with full bolt ons and some R compounds you can easily run with the likes of GT3's, Z06's, Exige's it just doesn't have the presence and panache of a Ferrari and that matters in the total package of a car. If it didn't everyone would be running gutted EG's or Miata's if all they cared about was performance.
People still acknowledge older Ferrari's, hell I remember driving my mom somewhere and she asked if that was a Ferrari, I looked over and it was an old Ferrari 355.
