Cop Gets Owned By A Law Student

yea this guys such a lame for protecting his rights.... right. If firearms were illegal in every state it wouldnt change every gangster, mobster, and every other bad guy we didnt want to get ahold of them would still have a weapon anyway. so why make them illegal? To take away a privilege from the Americans who deserve to own a gun if they choose.

No they wouldn't.  Not as easily as you think at least.  7 year olds wouldn't be getting shot in their front yards by their wacky old racist neighbors every day.

And to the person who referenced the rise of violent crime in The UK, that's not gun-related violence.  If you argue owning a gun would deter some of that crime, it could just as easily be argued that owning a gun would aggravate more of it.

he was in Portland, Maine. I live there. He def didnt need it for protection. what some tourist looking for lobster going to start a shoot out?

people like that annoy the hell ot of me. Like he woke up one more thinking how he can get on youtube.

Douche

Im not sure why people are getting upset that the guy is being called a douche. Im not saying hes wrong, but his is a ****. Just like that Photographer example a few pages back. The guy taking pics isnt legally wrong, but he is a **** for doing it. Now purposely wearing a gun in a holster around in a fairly safe public area basically wanting to be confronted is a **** move.

the fact that if he could exercise his rights freely he would never be given this satisfaction.

oh god. hes walking down a very populated area with a gun and thats okay with you?
if i see a guy walking down my street im calling the cops ASAP.

Didn't see a thing wrong with his actions at all. Dude had every right to carry his gun. It would have been a completely different story if it was concealed, which it likely wasn't due to reports coming in about a guy walking around with a gun. They must've seen it.

If you're "sketched out" of anyone walking down the street with a gun, you should be the same way with police officers walking around with guns. People are people. Motivation to commit a crime doesnt stop just because of a badge.

How stupid are some of y'all?
Dude walked in the street..waving a gun around

Quoting "sections" and all this bs

Had that camera not been there, cop could've shot him in cold blood.

Witnesses would've later been saying, "he was waving a gun around earlier in the day"

People are dumb

The illegal action of a minority of police should not dictate our rights.
Stuff like this (provoking cops with camera handy) goes on all the time...as well as regular citizens carrying openly.

The people you see carrying firearms openly are not the same people you see bucking shots outside the club.

Each bullet is traceable to the registered firearm it comes from. Making it LESS LIKELY to be used in a criminal way.

I don't currently own a firearm but I like having the RIGHT to urchase one if I want/need.

Guns and America's overall obsession with violence is disturbing.

Behind all the armchair militant, "$!!+ the police" bull a lot of you engage in, there's a huge culture of mouth breathers and baby shakers walking around with guns.

There's one reason people don't $!!+ with cops like this guy did: Because they can kill you at any time and get away with it. The guy got away with it and I'm sure his race, as well as the fact that it happened in Portland played a major part in it all.

I'd like to see him try some, "I don't consent to searches, I have rights" crap in NY.

Dude was mad corny. Yeah he was within his rights, but I'm not sure he had any rationale other than to exhibit his knowledge of the law for all of youtube.

I know the guy has rights, but it seemed unnecessary to have it publicly displayed. If someone has a concealed weapon, there is nothing I can do.
I just have react accordingly if the situation becomes dire. However, if I see a guy with a firearm on his hip(non cop). I'm leaving the scene immediately.
Dude might have a "Falling Down" moment over some breakfast.

What's the purpose of displaying your firearm anyway? It seems like a tactical error. You all would be the criminal's first target.
What if someone behind you in line snatches it out of your holster?

Are you guys familiar with NDAA? It basically says you can be detained for no reason.

From Wikipedia:

The most controversial provisions to receive wide attention are contained in Title X, Subtitle D, entitled "Counter-Terrorism." In particular, sub-sections 1021 and 1022, which deal with detention of persons the government suspects of involvement in terrorism, have generated controversy as to their legal meaning and their potential implications for abuse of Presidential authority. Although the White House[9] and Senate sponsors[10] maintain that the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) already grants presidential authority for indefinite detention, the Act states that Congress "affirms" this authority and makes specific provisions as to the exercise of that authority.[11][12] The detention provisions of the Act have received critical attention by, among others, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the Bill of Rights Defense Committee, and some media sources which are concerned about the scope of the President's authority, including contentions that those whom they claim may be held indefinitely could include U.S. citizens arrested on American soil, including arrests by members of the Armed Forces.

Why not? Do you suspect he would shoot you?

no, I suspect Carver would not walk up to someone who is open carrying and proceed to say what he posted. would prob be more of a "run around the corner, dial 911, and post about it on NT" situation. dude in the video was obviously a rational law abiding citizen. I'm not afraid of guns or people with them unless given reason to be.

this thread is making me think of when they destroyed all the guns on Family Guy

Don't try that man. Because if you're not fast enough, you're going to get popped and the gun owner is going to say he was standing his ground.
Bunch of militant thug bammas in here.

So lets say we ban all guns. Who then are the only people in the community with guns? Criminals and police. A ban on guns will do nothing to prevent a criminal from getting his/her hands on one if they want it so a ban you essentially just taking guns away from law abiding citizens.

Also regarding the video the student does sound stupid but does anyone know the real context of this video? For all we know he could carry his gun on a daily basis it just so happened today he was stopped and decided to video the stop 1. to make a point or 2. to protect his side of the story.

Face Palm..........

Thank god this isnt a Republic or we wouldnt be able to take away everyones rights because they might hurt someone in a hypothetical situation.

Punishing criminals is so outdated if we punish people BEFORE they commit a crime then crime rates will be 0!
