Triple-Olympic gold medalist Stephanie Rice made a big splash with US basketball star Kobe Bryant when he dropped in to visit the Australian swimming team in Manchester.

Bryant, who won gold at Beijing 2008 with the 'Dream Team', spoke with several Aussie swimmers at their training base a week out from the start of the London 2012 Games.

He signed autographs and posed for photos with the likes of four-time Olympian Leisel Jones and young 400m freestyle competitor David McKeon.

But queen of the pool Rice made the biggest impression on the Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard, giving him a pair of swimming briefs as a memento of his visit.

Bryant appeared to question the size of the briefs given to him by Rice.

The 24-year-old individual medley champion also signed a swimming cap for Bryant's two daughters who are big swimming fans.
