Real estate is by far the fastest way for a person that does not come from wealth to acquire wealth and positive net worth.

I think its nuts to live anywhere in America were you have to live with your parents until you are 30+ to buy a home.

I secretly want a house on the hills in LA 

I wish I was. If anything the numbers I posted are on the lower end. The avg "starter home" is prob closer to being in the 800s. Just about every home in SF can be sold for a million plus if the seller wants to do some renovations. The avg 1 bedroom in SF is $3400.

Depends where your at in the bay, but if you wanna live in San Fran, it's all true. You can go to Oakland or a bit of a drive for cheaper

Oakland is just as bad as SF if not worse. Sure you find some cheaper spots but that's if you want to live in East Oakland or along International Blvd. Then there's neighborhoods like Piedmont, Montclair, Glenview, and Trestle Glen where every house is pretty much over a million. Just think of it as The Brooklyn of NorCal.


There are many reasons why some people in the Bay Area still live with their parents. There's rent control in SF so not everyone's paying outrageous rent. It's also a great way to save for a DP. Even if you make $100K a year, You still to come up with $150-$250K for a DP and spending $2K+ a month for rent makes it really hard to save. Or maybe it's a cultural thing. I feel like it's more acceptable in the Asian and Hispanic culture to be living with your folks until your 20-30s.

I visited Peru for a month this last year. For young adults, the norm was staying with your parents until you got enough to afford your own place. Renting wasn't really a thing.

Meanwhile everywhere else in the world after one person "worked harD" they ensure future generations will never have to work hard but more so work SMART thus passing down generational wealth.

People think they get cool points for their parents not building nothing for them and pretty much being selfish and living for themselves and not future generations lol smh

Moving out when I was 18 made me what I am.

There is no better education you can receive in life than desperation.

i think you took it too far, i know ppl who are adopted or parents didn't have much............they def built a much different character because of it

Hispanic & asians cultures leave da home when marriage & kids is looming, otherwise da stigma that exists in America is nonexistent to us.

My cousin's brother in-law who's a flip is a nurse making 120k a year still living at home with his mama cuz he's not married & has no children.

I don't respect men who don't contribute to their parents but stay in a German vehicle and spend thousands on shoes a month.

Latin American countries cannot be compared to the US cause ain't a damned person in the U.S. gonna ever be as humble as someone from 2nd to the 3rd world countries.

I got a friend who lets his mom fund his whole existence and ain't done **** for himself.

But keep enabling men to stay at home, contributing nothing, acting like they're "doing it"
