Peyton Manning mark under review

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- History is getting a second look.

Peyton Manning's stat line from the Denver Broncos' 34-14 win Sunday over the Oakland Raiders was 25-of-28 passing for 266 yards and four touchdowns. The four TD passes gave him 55 for the season, extending his record total to five more than Tom Brady's former mark. The yardage total gave Manning 5,477 -- one more than Drew Brees' 2011 record.

The league's record-keepers were taking another look at things Monday, as is customary each week in the season. At issue, according to sources, is a 7-yard completion from Manning to Eric Decker with just over a minute remaining in the first quarter.

Manning set the mark on the last play from scrimmage for the Broncos before halftime, a 5-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas. He did not play in the second half.

In one camera angle, the pass to Decker looks like a lateral, which would make it a running play. Another angle, from above, shows Decker receiving the ball at the Broncos' 48-yard line, with Manning slightly deeper than that.

If the play stands, Manning would keep the record. If it is eventually ruled a run, he would be credited with 259 yards Sunday and 5,470 this season. The 5,470 would be the second-highest season total in league history and still easily be Manning's career best.

In recent weeks, Manning has said the touchdown record was more significant because it represented the result of an offense scoring points as it tried to win games. Even Sunday, after he'd set the yardage record, he replied to a question about that mark with: "I don't really have much to say about it, to tell you the truth."

Plays are routinely reviewed throughout the season by Elias Sports Bureau, which keeps the league's statistical records, and teams are often notified in the days following games of corrections in items such as sacks or rushing and passing yardage.

was the decker TD that controversial a non call? i didn't remember anyone questioning it during the game.

I'm really glad the Raiders didn't fire their coach. Give him another year w/ another actual draft class + 60 mil worth of spending money and see what he can do.
I really think they go QB w/ the 5th pick, but we'll see what happens.

Think Greg Hardy will get franchise tagged, so I'd love to go after Hatcher/Melton at DT, Charles Johnson or Lamaar Houston back or hopefully both.
We need a CB and passrusher as well. Altho I don't think Reggie McKenzie is gunna overspend this offseason, he has to get a few marquee players and continue the quality depth siginings like he's been doing the past 2 years. The best way to get better is thru the draft and stability. It's been 10 years of **** for Raiders fans but this is the offseason they gotta turn it around.

Bucs considering Kubes ? :wow:

Hopefully we hold onto Schaub and trade him to the bucs for their 1st or 2nd :nerd:

:nerd:

I think Schefter just said that just to get his name out there and cause it looks like we want a head coach with a lot of NFL experience this time. From what I've heard a head coach could be named in the next day or two and that's why our ownership hasn't held a press conference yet even speaking about the firing of Schiano and Dominik.

Sounds like Lovie is the guy, but we almost never end up hiring the guy that's supposed to be picked...it's always some out of the blue wild card.

Lovie on the Bucs would be dope. They need a veteran coach to control the vets on that roster IMO.

Have you guys ever read the belicheck conspiracy? I think it's on reddit and it explains how hoodie sent his assistants to rising AFC teams and they each began to suffer soon after look it up it's pretty convincing

:nerd:

 yup that's it. It's hilarious but really spot on if you think about it.

Darth Belicheck :smokin :smokin :smokin

Actually, if we're doing Belichick conspiracies, I would posit that since the Giants gave Belichick his first coordinator job and his first two Super Bowl rings he has a soft spot for them in whatever it is that approximates his heart. So when he came up against them in Super Bowl 42 with the chance to have the first 19-0 season in NFL history he not only told his defensive line to let Eli slip away from a sack that may have ended the game, but he got together with David Tyree before the game and told him about the play beforehand. David Tyree was born in New Jersey in 1980, only a few short miles away from Giants Stadium. Less than a year earlier Bill Belichick joined the New York Giants as a special teams coach. What I'm saying is... David Tyree is Bill Belichick's son. Why do you think Tyree never made another catch after that one? He assured his place in NFL history in exchange for never revealing his true father to the world.

Sean Lee is a beast but I know his NFL career would be like this

I watched all his games at Penn State and he was always getting hurt

I'm dying.

Sweatpants tucked into Uggs? Yea, that sounds about right.
I didn't read the article. Why is Ozzy Osbourne's face blacked out in the bottom picture?
I once got a 'half and half' for a Cornelius Bennett jersey
That makes 54 people who blew while in a Bills jersey that Sunday

Skins will most likely be hiring a new GM as well...

from one of their insiders:

Bruce is expected to take a move up. Most likely to President of football or a similar type title where he'd be guy between the GM & owner.

my buddy just texted me that Bill O'Brien is staying at Penn State and a presser is scheduled for next hour

take it with a grain of salt but he has friends who work up there

Man after all this mess I'm so glad we hired Chip  Joe banner is such a detriment over in Cleveland smhI genuinely feel for that city and their sports fans...we had it rough before 08 but damn. How the hell do you fire a coach after one year and he had no running game and terrible qb play aside for Campbell in like 2 games and Hoyer initially  and get rid of Horton to boot, brutal
