I'm watching NFL network and these guys are really high on the dolphins, saying they going to end the Patriots reign on top of the AFC east

Problem with them is they lost as many key players as they gained...

I don't really agree with that. I think more of the problem is they will have to put it together in roughly 10 games in order to take the division and/or make the playoffs. I believe that will be the harder part of it.

Karlos is good but not an impact player and wasn't great against the pass.
Sean gave up a ton of TDs and blew a bunch of coverages. Was really lazy on the back end when he could have been very dominant.
Anthony Fasano was a good blocker, horrible receiver though. Slow. 50-50 hands in coverage which he always was in.

I think in those aspects they have been all upgraded. Nothing but rave reviews coming from everyone about Grimes. Keller is just as good of blocker and a better receiver than Fasano. And with Ellerbe he is young, but played a good role with the Ravens and is much better in coverage. He did it last year with one hand.

They held on to the one weapon Tannehill gelled with last year and upgraded WR.

They lost a real decent slot reciever that I wasn't thrilled to see go but I understand why. But they filled it with Gipson who has been getting good reviews. We'll see how that plays out.

Reggie Bush left and I don't see that as a bad thing either. He was never really a Philbin guy for whatever reason. I love Lamar Miller and think he can be Clinton Portis for the next 6 years. Am I biased? Yes. Do I love The U? Yes... but my feeling is deeper than that. Look at all the Miami running backs to come out who have been successful like Miller. You'll see he fits that mold. And then you have him working out with a very successful Frank Gore, similar to Tannehill working with Pennington, it's very exciting to think about.

The biggest thing is Jake Long. Last couple of years he has been shotty with injuries. Knee, Back, Tricep... I understand why you wouldn't want to re-sign him even though his first 3 years he was a pro-bowler. With John Martin more of a finesse player and a better player on the left side I think things will be fine. Will he be a dominant as Jakes first 3 years. No... but he did fine towards the end of last year. With Clabo coming in on the Right side and Right Guard STILL being an issue I do, still, think the offensive line will be the biggest issue.

In conclusion... Go Phins.

Pretty funny they are saying that now seeing as a couple weeks ago it was just the opposite.

Even funnier that there has been only 3 practices and they are saying. Let's at least get to pre-season.

Ok, I know little enough about the dolphins to buy the explanation. No doubt the AFC East is there for the taking.

The Dolphins have a legit shot at the division this year. I know Tom Brady has done wonders with crap wide receiving cores before but man this year's is just one load of **** around Amendola, who's been injured every year, and Gronk (dude has been having a new surgery every other month it seems). Their secondary is also really bad while that's a strength of the Dolphins. I can't think of anything I don't like about that Dolphins team. There's nothing you can specifically point out that's a weak area for them. If Hartline can stay healthy him and Wallace should be a real nice duo for Tannehill. Keller's a great pickup too.

i have faith in aaron dobson

i wouldnt say the AFC east is there for the taking, but if anyone is going to challenge in the division, saying it's the dolphins is fair (and obvious). i still think we take the division.

Not like we haven't let folks down before. Very possible we implode.

But IF our youth shines, Tanne, Miller, Jones, Jordan, Vernon, Taylor, Martin, Pouncey....

And vets like Wake, Soliaii, Wallace, Hartline, Ellerbe, Grimes, and Keller stay healthy, we can "make some noise".

We'll see

I think this year, yes.

I put my faith into Dolphins of 2014 being thee team. Gelled, plenty of reps with each other. I just don't see how in 10 games and x amount of practice EVERYTHING can come together. If they can mask the problems, which I think will mostly be the line, then maybe some noise can be made. Playoff run noise, not just some wins.

Too True. :rolleyes :smh:

Grimes will turn out to be a HUGE addition. I have no idea why more people didn't go after him even after his injury. One of the few Falcons that I truly respected over the past few years.

Because of that injury...he lives off his athleticism...not gonna lie tho, it'll be tough not seeing Optimus Grimes in a falcons Uni

dolphins will definitely be an interesting team to watch for this year... the patriots can't ever be counted out, even with the lack of offensive targets & injuries they have to their current go to guys, but i think miami can hold their own this season in that division.

A better question is will refs see how he gets held every damn time he comes off the edge. But I guess that's wishful thinking :smh:

Never happened with James Harrison so I doubt it will happen with him

I just hope for no major injuries through camp and maybe some noise from a rookie or two. Going to need it this year

Grimes is one of the most athletic corners I've ever seen in my life. Some of the interceptions he made against us and the Saints straight up defied gravity.

Bears DT Sedrick Ellis has not reported to training camp. Ellis has advised the club of his intention to retire from the NFL.

I wouldn't say the AFC East is there for the taking either, but I will say the entire AFC is there for the taking.  As a fan of a team in the NFC, its really a shame how unbalanced the conferences are in terms of talented teams.  If you made a top 10 list of best NFL teams, AT LEAST 7 of them come from the NFC.  Probably 8.

I think RG3 should get some snaps in the pre season. He's only played one season. I think every second year QB should get some play before the real season starts.

I was watching that Real Training Camp Live on NFL Network a little earlier and it was basically "The Live Look-In At Peyton Manning Special"
