some real scumbags in the nfl. let's be real about this

i think a bunch you are missing the point about how one person should interact with others (whether it's in the workplace or outside of it) and instead are choosing to focus on the "lol @ at a grown man being bullied" angle. if that's the way you see things, i really believe you're actually excusing and/or condoning this type of behavior from low iq individuals. the blaming the victim bit is super weak and says a lot about you

the first step is decency. the next step is respect both respect to others and self-respect. it's apparent this incognito individual was failing hard in both departments. if you fail on both counts, you're an idiot and deserve to bare the repercussions of whatever comes to you

An insightful response would be you explaining why you have a restraining order against a another dude.
Why didnt you just stand up to your bully?

Btw reporting someone for calling you out is exactly what I mean.
i think its funny that you know all about me, yet i have no clue who you are nor do i care do.

but hey an nfl locker room and some dude trying to come to your personal property popping off because you smashed his girl are the same thing in your eyes i guess.

i don't get what i said was so bad.  i said incognito is a scumbag.  martin should've stood up for himself though.   terrible situation all around and i feel bad for the guy.  but standing up for himself like how dez bryant did to roy williams his rookie season would've avoided alot of the problems here at hand,

Cameron Wake isn't one of the Dolphins' leaders or anything? Incognito can't possibly be the only name on there

he not only got on that racist tip, but incognito also threatened to assault his family & kill martin

but i guess that's just typical lockeroom behavior and business as usual? stop it.

whether you think that's just "joking" or not, it's nothing to take lightly

incognito was an obvious scumbag with previous scumbag history. he's the mentally ill one

People claim emotional and mental toughness have disappeared. Well so has basic decency and character as well. Agree with Don, JJ and rillio

Appearantly this issue was brought to Philbin's attention in the Spring by Martin.

yikes

I wish Antonio Smith's helmet would've connected with Incognito's face during that particular game.

what grown man goes out of this way to behave and treat another person in such a manner? surely not a stable, competent human being

martin is not the unstable one for refusing to want to deal with this situation by being belligerent in return

some of you guys are all mixed up. really backward thinking

This dude Incognito told him that he will "Kill you" on a VM. If there was a line, that's it right there.

Marcellus Wiley said that they made LT pay $32k+ to take the whole team out for dinner. :wow:

Quick question...if he was easily outed as "soft" and "sensitive" by his own teammates...what would the reaction be if someone on another team picked up on it during a game and went in on the trash talk?

If dude seriously is "mentally ill" then maybe football isn't in his calling. What happens if he lines up across someone wearing a different color jersey and they say some OD **** to him and he cracks? Do we fine the other guy?

And I'm not trying to make light of what Incognito did...I'm just asking a hypothetical.

Honestly, that wouldn't be "expected" bc some guys have a filter or a code they wouldn't break talking trash, even to opponents but wouldn't shock me as much as this. Some guys dont but I feel this is WAY worse being that its a teammate who literally plays right next to the guy on the line. And we don't know how long this has been going on, he may have had issues growing up, etc with depression or things and this crap could've brought that right back up in his mind.

Imagine coming to work every single day and dealing with that. Not shocked AT ALL he said f it enough is enough. You'd think teammates, your brothers out there would have your back. Not even saying everyone has to coddle him and build a wall and not crack jokes but obviiously if the getting up when someone sit down prank set him off...you gotta believe this has been a long time coming bc thats an innocent prank.

Wow if Philbin was told then he may need walking papers too :smh: Just a HORRENDOUS display of character and integrity by all of them besides Martin :x

Tell me what it says about me. Really I would like to know. Everyone agrees that Incognito was clearly wrong, but at what point do you stop being a pushover? He paid $15,000 for a trip he didn't even go on. The locker room clearly has no respect for him.

At being a grown man and getting "bullied"

Dude ain't never gonna able to live that down. He's gonna get the sensitive treatment from now on.

If he did that in any other work setting that wasn't a sports team, he'd be fired without hesitation.

Y'all kill me with the sensitive stuff you guys promote on here. Martin is a kid who went to Harvard-Westlake and Stanford, he's prolly a smart/weird kid who just happens to be a huge human being. The sports environment of bros/knuckelheads prolly leaves him at odds a lot of times so its easy to see how alienating a locker room could be.

You played sports, so you know. There are all kinds of lines crossed during games w/ trash talk. However, I bet that Martin never expected it to be as bad as how he was getting it from one of his own teammates. That's where the problem is.

If I remember correctly, the NFL came down on Carl Pickens for things he said to Rod Woodson back in the day. I think he even made WOodson cry it was so bad. More recently, look at how nuts Steve Smith was after Janoris Jenkins' trash talk. Dude was talking about his family. He didn't get into specifics, but Smith was heated.

Different sport, but in hockey there have been fines given out to players for things said on the ice.

*The bigger problem is if Philbin knew of all of this going on and did nothing. If your coach doesn't have your back, then what? This is probably part of the reason why dude ended up paying 15k for a trip he didn't go on. It was a no-win situation and this is gonna get real ugly as more details come out. Could be the end of Philbin as a head coach as well.

I agree that maybe Martin isn't built to play football professionally.

But theres a difference between trash talk between you and your opponent and being verbally abused by someone who you work with everyday whether you like it or not.

I mean dude is getting harrassed and threatened by someone he's in the trenches with. Incognito deserves whatever is coming to him.

It's real easy to sit your fat *** down on the couch with your laptop and type about what another man should do in a situation that you have no clue about.

Reported for a personal attack

Next time give an insightful response on the topic at hand rather then name call. This isn't kindergarten.

i mean, you don't see the irony in you "reporting" someone whose comments on a messageboard hurt your feelings, yet you're advocating for another person to stand up for themselves when they're accosted on a continual basis in much worse ways? you're a funny dude

it says you're a weak-minded individual who sees resorting to base situations in base ways. if you see that as the end all be all, then you're just as complacent and complicit in the behavior that culminated with the kind of "culture" found in situations such as this one

i mean, you using the word "pushover" designate someone like martin as "soft" or someone who's not worth his weight in this kind of culture -- the meathead culture of lockeroom idiocy. using the word pushover immediately takes the blame away from the idiot aggressor and puts the burden on the person who's being accosted. that does indeed say a lot about you

any other questions?

  keyboard tough guys are hilarious. Bet Martin would smack the hell out of every person in here questioning his sensitivity and how he's built and they wouldn't say a word back besides "wont happen again Mr. Martin"

But the NFL will be quick to fine Brandon Marshall for raising awareness for mental health week :smh: clearly more people in this world need to be educated on the subject.

Another hypothetical...

If Prince Amukamara blew the whistle on JPP and said he was bullied for getting thrown into the cold tub last year for being soft (they clearing weren't playing or joking either)...

Would we be calling him a sucker? or would we calling him a victim and calling for JPP's head?

Yeah, where did you get your psychology degree? Weak minded individual  another go to response for NT. This thread is starting to fill up with estrogen with quips like this. This anti bullying stance is just wild and a bit dramatic.

Kinda wild how some dudes in here trying to take this in light or justify it.

They're just real men! Hair on their chest and everything! They'll fight any fight as long as it's on the internet!
Martin's done the right thing IMO, this is leading to a lawsuit that will pay him more money than he ever could get in his playing career.

Fighting would've got him cut or black balled
