I'm 29 and of course I haven't been everywhere in the world but I have never seen someone use ******** in a negative way...

Hey but if its that bad... Ban it.

They will forever be the Washington Refskins to me.

Probably because there is no subjective definition of what is offensive and what isn't.

My view is if you are offended then "boycott" what offends you and move on with your life. Do not make people who are not offended and couldn't care less one way or the other "victims". Liberalism/Progressivism makes me want to barf. Hope that did not offend you...............

Miami's website has a large section regarding the term and change of it. Some good info including the derogatory nature of the term

What is much worse than a professional team using the term are educational institutions still using it. That's just in poor taste :smh:. A private entity can make their 'company' name whatever they'd like (or have much more leniency). But for public institutions...not a fan

It is poor taste for everyone. But the people who pay for these public institutions (tax payers) do not hold them accountable to anything so it is par for the course.

I just caught wind of what NT is doing in regards to the name "********" and I totally appreciate their courage to stand up for what they think is right. However, especially since I am a ******** fan, I do not support this or really any censorship of free speech. This is purely a political statement since I doubt anyone has complained to NT that they were offended by someone referring to the "********" as "********". It comes off as really disingenuous to lump this in with all of the other terms that are censored; which I do not personally agree with but at least can understand the justification. NT better start banning a bunch of other names and phrases or I might have to seriously consider leaving this site. (not that anyone cares lol)

Would a name change be something you're in favor of or no? ANd im not talking about on here, but the actual team name changing.

But you want to understand the "rules of the game" and I feel like I do not understand them anymore.

I know the justification that has been given is "It is a racial slur and NT bans racial slurs" but obviously some people do not buy that.

People are just voicing their opinions and concerns that is all.

It is not that hard and I have it when I feel like having it, but it is not required nor entitled to anyone. Just because I do not agree with you does not mean I do not understand what you are talking about. I just do not give a **** because your view does not change reality. The reality is that you show decency because you want to. Nothing more nothing less.

That rename the team thread is a joke too... Like I said just call them by the city. Washington. Nothing else needs to be done.


A lot of things can be deemed offensive. It's a lot of things on NT that I'm sure will offend done if the busted the site. It's going to be interesting to see if those things will be banned also.

Arguments have been made that “Braves” and the tomahawk chop perpetuate an ignorant stereotype that all Native American’s are/were warriors, or blood thirsty savages.

If “********” need’s to go, than the other’s probably need to as well. 

Kind of unrelated but IMO the idiot’s who go to these games and put on headdresses and paint and “act Indian” are as offensive if not more than some of these team’s names.  
 
Why now? How is it offensive today and not the 10+ years NT was around?

It's the name of the team, ridiculous.
 
My reasons for wanting the ******** to keep their name is selfish. I just enjoy the history of each franchise and I've definitely grown accustom to Washington's football team being named the ********. I suppose if it really is offensive to the majority of people then change it, but I never ever came close to thinking of the term ******* in the derogatory manner of its apparent definition. In fact, I had no idea.

Jaws is on fire lately. Although, I really think Eddie Lacy will make a significantly better all-around offense. I was pissed when they got him.
