Who do you guys have winning the first game? Even though the Broncos won't have Von and maybe Champ, I still think they will pull it out at home.

He's one of the guys this year that ESPN is trying to push on everybody

I really like the guy too, it's like they're trying to create a backlash. We really don't need a new LeBron of football ( from a media perspective)

they aren't trying to create backlash

he's a media darling. black quarterback that breaks most of the usual stereotypes with his play and personality.

believe what you want, but a lot of older white NFL fans see a lot of players as "thugs" and what not. for reference, see the allen iverson dress code rules in the NBA. they don't think that about rg3 because he comes off as intelligent and well spoken. that's why ESPN is throwing him in your face as much as they can.

You don't know that's the reason though. ESPN doesn't neccessarily pinpoint their focus based on feel good stories. They go along with the google hits. Brett Favre and Tim Tebow became disliked much more for no good reason other than the "slurpage" of ESPN (and Madden). Favre and Tebow, for that matter, had subsequent downfalls in the eyes of fans by a media-driven perception.

RGIII sells tickets, jersey's and has that flare about him that someone like Vick had when he came into the League. Fans eat it up and by nature, ESPN capatlizes on that. You're probably right, but I think there's more to it than that. Especially when it comes to ESPN.

agree 651. i didn't mean to just say that was the only reason, just one of them. reading back on my post, i didn't make that clear.

i just wish ESPN knew when enough was enough, but they overkill everything.

No worries. They really do kill everything. It doesn't neccessarily bother me because I don't watch ESPN, but then it's fans or whatever they are, who state claim to everything ESPN highlights and then eventually become jaded with that same superstar while continuing to watch ESPN. They have no clue their minds are being fryed.

Sounds like Kraft wants to keep Tebow cuz "He's such a great kid". I like Tebow but it's funny as hell how people praise this dude for stuff that has nothing to do with football.

RG3 is getting is a little too much hype right now. Like every week since their season ended its "RG3 says this, RG3 says that". I can't knock him for the commercials, get your money. Dude is just talking too much, saying he doesn't agree with how they're handling him then backtracking. Just chill out and play football.

^I agree with that bit about RGIII, but he's just a young guy with lots of money and media attention. I'm sure his will is being tested everyday and I can see why he sways back in forth in his interviews. He's trying to make both sides happy and you can't do that. I really hate the typical media.

at the idea of keeping a garbage backup QB because they're a good person.

Imagine if criteria for keeping a roster spot was all about having good character and values......................

Yeah I mean I agree with this completely, they just don't know when enough is enough.  They may not do it on purpose, but when there is an inevitable backlash they're not against hopping on that side of it as well.

Bears have had some discussions about trading WR Earl Bennett. Trades not easy to make this time of year, though.

Pete Carroll: We have a big decision to make with Chris Clemons

Posted by Josh Alper on August 28, 2013, 3:23 PM EDT

Cliff Avril is out indefinitely with a hamstring injury for the Seahawks, which cuts into their enviable depth at the position a little bit with the start of the season around the corner.

Should Avril miss time in the regular season, the Seahawks might be able to turn to Chris Clemons as a replacement. Coach Pete Carroll was asked Wednesday if the reason why Clemons wasn’t placed on the reserve PUP list along with wide receiver Percy Harvin earlier this week was because he’s close enough to playing that there’s no reason to wipe out the first six weeks of the season and the coach indicated that it was.

“Clemons has been working out great. We watched him again today. He’s made fantastic progress,” Carroll said, via Curtis Crabtree of PFT. “You would not have been able to tell from his workout today that he had any issue, so that’s a really good sign. He hasn’t worked against anybody, hasn’t practiced or any of that kind of stuff but it’s a great sign. We have a big decision to make there. We’ll figure that one out.”

Clemons tore his ACL in the Seahawks’ playoff victory over the ********, but Carroll has said more than once this summer that a Week One return wasn’t out of the question for the player who has tallied exactly 11 sacks in each of the last three years. If he can go in Week One, the Seahawks will have options to use against Cam Newton whether Avril can play or not. Even if he doesn’t, it sounds like Clemons has a good shot to be starting the year on the 53-man roster than the PUP list.

I see the backlash... it was pretty much a lead every day when he and Shanahan were disagreeing about playing in the preseason.

They're not trying to make him their posterboy, rather their cash cow. They'll exploit him for any story that has a trail of bad just as they do with the ones that are good.
