My TV schedule for Sunday:

Oakland @ Indianapolis
Atlanta @ New Orleans
Green Bay @ San Francisco
New York Giants @ Dallas

I wish I could watch the Tampa Bay game on my tv though..

Yeah look at my avy, make your assumptions whatever...

But the Vikings are getting underrated by just about everyone out there right now.

Random but Tebow should just go to the WWE with some training he would instantly become the biggest star there, being a qb is not for him.

Brian Urlacher is a ***** *** *****. Telling everyone that the Bears would fake injuries to slow down the game.
dude is hurt the bears did not pay him what he wanted and thus retiring. his neck must be blocking blood flow to his brain.

Yeah, I mean 10-6 last season.... and that was w/o a Percy asterisk since he went out for the season after that Seahawks game and then they started rattling off a bunch of wins. Example: The Bears (who were going for a WIld Card Spot), Texans (who were trying to lock up home field throughout), and Packers (who were trying to lock up a first round bye). In that final game where both teams had something to play for, Ponder outperformed Rodgers.... statcheck.

Added Shariff, Cordarelle, X, Greg Jennings... no significant season ending injuries. The best RB in the league in his prime years. The best center in the NFL. Pro Bowl fullback paving the way. Jared Allen playing for a contract. Matt Kalil in year #2.

Second place scheduling is the rebuttal I've heard, but you all know how fluid that situation becomes by the time September ends. Teams we thought were going to be good didn't come together or had injuries, surprise teams pop up out of nowhere.

I've been seeing a lot of 4th place finishes. Just doesn't make sense IMO. They deserve a little bit more optimism than just that.

i don't think the vikings will win more than 9 games. they have a tough schedule. ponder better step up or it will be a long season.

Bottom 6 or 7 QB in the NFL, great record in close games last year, had maybe the greatest performance in from a running back in NFL history to go 10-6.

I'll be shocked if the Vikings win 8 games.

if the vikings had a QB, i could see them doing serious damage. but until then...ehhh. it's a tough division.

EDIT: to add, i feel like everyone got better (except maybe GB, but even then they're still the class of the division).

But that's really all I'm asking these "experts for". 8-8! That's a 2-game swoon, and not making the playoffs. I think they warrant that.... not these damn last place division finishes like I've been seeing.

unless AD runs for 2k+ again vikings are under 10 wins
Greg Jennings is a great sign an all but theres a difference between being the guy in an offense with the best QB throwing it 40+ and being the guy in an offense with a bottom 5 QB throwing it 20 times
Percy was great for him because most of his receptions were behind the line. i doubt jennings is that type of reciever

Obviously page 953 of the 2013 NFL season discussion thread is dedicated to "please give the Vikings some more attention" side of the equation.  I think the Vikings are listed right where they need and more importantly ought to be..............and that's being generous.

They would be a very good team if they had a good QB, they have a below-average QB, so they are a decent team that could be anywhere from 7-9 to 9-7.

I'm not really aiming to give them more attention, just a fair analysis. It's like a wave that got swept too far one way. I get where people are going with it, but groupthink turns into an overreaction after a period of time.

some of the vikings criticism is warranted, but they're competing with the lions and bears. do either of those teams really worry anyone? it's not out of the question for the vikings to finish 2nd

i think both of those teams are in a better position than minnesota at this time. but it's not like they're leaps and bounds better. i see where JPZ is coming from.

For the reasons that just about everyone else listed above, the NFL is a quarterback driven league.  With that being said most people see Ponder as a liability for the Vikings instead of an asset.  We all know and recognize the great season that AD had last year, but from an odds standpoint how many people expect him to duplicate that season again or come remotely close??  I don't, and that's not a negative towards AD, that's just saying that saying that the odds of him having another 2,000 yard season are probably slim to none.   He carried the load for your offense last year, might not be able to do it again.

Yeah the Vikings signed Greg Jennings in the off-season but as I always said.......a receiver can only be as good as his QB is.  Which leads up right back full circle to Christian Ponder and all the questions and more importantly doubts about his play that have YET to be answered.  Combine that with being in a tough division and champ I say you got more problems than answers on your hands from a team standpoint.  Right now in all fairness, I see the Vikings as being 3rd at best in the division.

Let them sleep JP.

The only agreement I can find is with Ponder, but it's weighted too heavily here. The Vikings got better in every aspect of the game this offseason and most people are definitely underrating them. I couldn't care any less though.
