I keep telling this idiot 49ers fan his pretty boy quarterback won't make it the full season.
D-linemen are going to blast these quarterbacks every chance they get.
Going to see a lot more nickel corner blitzes just to hit the quarterback.

That's what I thought. This is why the read option won't survive. Coaches won't completely lock it down but the Qbs that continue to run it 20+ times a game won't last 5 years. RGIII already has two ACL injuries.

Read option WILL be the reason these franchise QB's are having knee injuries ****ing up their careers, though.

Based on the fact that once your QB becomes a runner he's exposed to a ton more kind of danger than residing in the pocket (where he should enjoy some protection if he's lucky). So much more possibility for serious injury moving instead of being stationary.

I can think of just as many guys who have had serious injuries staying in the pocket as there are guys who have gotten hurt while running.
No shots, but I honestly don't think you have an argument.

I don't know. I definitely agree that they're more exposed to injury because of the shots they'll take and adding to that is the fact that defenders are starting to go low anyway with all the hits to the head calls, so I think that's probably where the argument is.
I think getting hit down low while stationary has the most potential for a serious leg injury than I do when they're on the run.

This is true. I still think there is an added element to this though. I mean, guys like Vick who take repeated shots may not suffer one significant injury, but multiple small aches and pains. Over the long haul is where these Q's will break down if they don't learn to avoid contact.

Pocket qb's are officially protected now in the nfl. A qb out of the pocket is considered a running back. You are kidding yourself if you don't think that a qb out of the pocket isn't setting himself up for injury.

There was a really good article a few years ago comparing NFL QB's who were runners career length to the QB's who didn't run, and surprise surprise, running QB's careers were seasons shorter.

I think it's more how the running qbs run then anything. Pocket passers are protected until the protection fails then they are wide open for huge shots while some running qb's run to avoid hits. Vick and griffin obviously is a different case. But Wilson and kaep do great jobs at avoiding the hit

That clarifying of the rule that defenders can hit a quaterback thats "faking" a handoff is pathetic. So what the nfl wants is tom brady to get blown up after he hands off. How does a referee know whether a qb is in a "runing" motion? Its just stupid. The nfl should consider that the qb is only a runner if he leaves the pocket in a running motion.

Ive got the giants winning sunday night. The cowboys have line issues on both sides and thats were the games are lost.

When did I say that? All I brought up was that it's hard to say one (pocket vs. scrambling) is more susceptible to injury when there are cases of guys being hurt in both situations.
