Not saying they are, but their contract situations are too similar...

Smith rolled the dice turning down that 35 million dollar extension, got hurt at the end of the season, and where is he now? Oh. I'm sure retirement is nice...

Pats run a tight ship. They will not let the Tebow circus dictate how they do things. It's a low-risk signing, and I'm curious to see how BB uses him going forward (assuming he makes the final 53). Look at the guys they've had in the past...Dillon, OchoCinco, Haynesworth, Lloyd, etc. All considered malcontents to some extent, but they all fell in line when they got to N.E. Even yesterday, Tebow spoke for like :20 and took NO questions. Remember how things were for him in NY? Dude was in front of the mic just about every week. BB handled the presser beautifully and Tebow on the roster will not be a distraction.

Terrell Owens: 'I can still play'

Terrell Owens hasn't given up on returning to play in the NFL, saying Wednesday that he's more mature now and can still help a team if it is willing to forget his past and give him a chance.

Owens I know I can still play the game and its a matter of somebody just giving me the opportunity to go out there and play.
-- Terrell Owens

In an interview with the NFL Network's "NFL AM" show, Owens said he hasn't gotten a call from any teams since he was released by the Seattle Seahawks last August.

He said he believes "politics" has much to do with the lack of interest in signing him.

"I think a lot of of it has to do with my reputation, things that I've done earlier in my career, but I'm a changed person, I'm a little bit more mature than I was in years past," he said.

He said he believes he could help a team develop its younger receivers but also help on the field, as well.

"I know I can still play the game and it's a matter of somebody just giving me the opportunity to go out there and play," he said.

The 39-year-old Owens hasn't played since Week 15 of the 2010 season while with the Cincinnati Bengals. He sat out the entire 2011 season following surgery on his left knee. He played for the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League last year, but was released and lost an ownership stake in the team in May.

He said he thought the best fit for him would be a team that uses a West Coast-system, "considering that's where I started," and mentioned the Minnesota Vikings and the Kansas City Chiefs, coached by Andy Reid, his former coach with the Philadelphia Eagles, as teams he could help.

Owens said he has no regrets about his past, which includes over-the-top touchdown celebrations, feuds with quarterbacks, most notably Donovan McNabb, and an accidental overdose in 2006 when he was a member of the Dallas Cowboys, "because that's part of the maturation process that I had to go through."

"I can't go back and change the past, I can only move forward," he said. "If someone can be open-minded and be able to move forward with me, we can be on the same page and be on board."

Wonder if anyone will take the bait... I wouldn't be surprised if Reid made that call.

and he will be in front of the mic again . he has been placed on the list by the Pats as one of the 2 players who are made available every week to the press during camp

Ain't no one gonna take that bait

Dude is toxic and old. You can get much better production with less fanfare from other players.

IMO, T.O. isn't clamoring for a job b/c he thinks he can still play. It's because he NEEDS the $$.

This man is probably close to going the public humiliation route by way of more reality TV or other ventures to make some cash.

It's going to be like watching a neutered dog. This is not going to be the same Tebow we grew accustomed to hearing in Den/NY. He's gonna tow the company line or he'll be unemployed. He's not good enough of a player to freely speak his mind while playing under BB.

T.O. is one of my favorite players of all-time and even I want him to stop asking to get back in the league.  A man should never beg.

neutered dog? what has Tebow said previously that was considered wild?

He's going to be in front of the media 24/7.

Nothing will change. he wasnt put in front of the camera for football reasons then, and he wont be now.

T.O. is forced to beg for a job. His financial problems are well-documented. Those three or four child support payments are hefty. In the tens of thousands per month.

If it's that bad for him (which I'm sure it is) I would rather see T.O. file for bankruptcy and call it a day.  At least then he can start from scratch and not have to beg for a job back with the NFL looking like another Begging Benny out here.

The only woman that ever seemed to truly care for T.O. is Kari Klinkenborg.

The other women looking for a free ride, even the two girls supposedly managing his career seemingly used T.O. to their benefit.

Dude was rocking the boat last year with the Jets.

If you don't think he'll approach the media slightly different now that he's a Pat, then I suggest you read about what Wes Welker had to say about finally being "free" to be himself now that he's in Denver.
