Gotta pay your QB's I guess but 41M guaranteed cash on a 3 year extension? Yikes.

89M or some crazy number in GTD money owed to JUST Staff and Megatron.

Expecting typical, tired Ponder rebuttal.

Numbers Never Lie ‏@ESPN_Numbers
Matthew Stafford ranked 15th in the NFL in Total QBR last season (58.9)…he’s only been in the top 10 once in his 4-year NFL career.

Ehh he's asked to do something no quarterback in NFL history has been asked to do. He's roughly the same age as Cam Newton and Andrew Luck.

He'll be fine. Hate on :smokin

He's only played two full seasons one was historic and one was mediore. When you consider the Lions led the NFL in drops those guy catch half those and his QBR jumps.

Oh and Megatron was tackled inside the 1 6 times.

Dudes off the street were at every skill position except Megatron after injuries set in.

Ehh, Megatron was posting just okay numbers until Matt played two full seasons.

The two full seasons Megatron has played with Matt have been arguably the best two season stretch a WR has ever had.

No quarterback in NFL history was asked to throw more than Stafford. They literally had no running game or even semblance of threat not named Megatron.

Maybe he wouldn't have to throw so much if he could complete more than 60% of his passes...

Packers and Lions were 20th and 23rd respectively in rushing last year... Not having a run game isn't an excuse anymore. Especially when you have an autobot at wideout.

4 seasons before Matt played every game CJ averaged 1047 yards a year and 8 touchdowns a year.

2 two seasons that Matt has played Megatron puts up 1822 a year and 11 touchdowns a year.

I think Calvin Johnson is the best NFL player that isn't a quarterback but this notion that having him is the only reason Matt Stafford is decent is stupid.

If the Lions WRs caught half of their league leading 40 drops he would have......

The Packers also had a WR core that was better than the Lions. Megatron is a monster but thats it.

We literally had a WR sabotaging games and yall are ******** on Matt

I'm not ******** on matt... I just don't think hes $41M GTD over 3 years good.  Thats top 5 level money.

My point remains that he throws 45 times a game partly because he completes less than 60% of his passes.  More completions per attempt = more 1st downs = less att/game.

Well your point is invalid  The LIons lead the league in drops, he threw the most, and dude was 59.8% for the year. Considering the defense and how often they were behind idk man.

And as far as money goes if Matt Stafford was a unrestricted free agent and couldn't be franchised he would get 25 million a year from some team. Top 5 money based on how you described it ain't top 5 money.

Is there a way to see how many of Staffords passes that were on point in terms of completion percentage?

Like how many we're catchable balls and of the balls the WRs dropped how many we're catchable.

Jimmy Graham lead the lead in dropped passes they were Drew Brees fault

Also Matt was at 62 percent for the year week until 13. What happened in week 13 you ask?

Ryan Broyles got hurt and the WR corp was down to Mike Thomas, dudes off the street and Megatron.

Okay if you turn 15 of those drops into completions which would be middle of the pack and rank the Lions as 15th most drops (30 drops) in the league the completion % becomes a whopping 62%.

Patriots 2nd most drops at 41 - Brady 64% completions

Saints 5th most 39 drops - Brees 63% completions

Bronco's 6th most 37 drops - Peyton 66% completions

Packers 7th most drops at 36 - Rodgers 67% completions

Cant put it all on the WR's dropping the ball.

Packers

No where have I said Matt Stafford is as good as those dudes and he doesn't make as much money as they do.

I think he will get to that level eventually but he isn't there yet.

I know you didn't say that.

What I'm saying is having the most drops isnt that great of an excuse to have sub 60% completions...

**** it... When is the NFCN trash talk thread starting up so we can freely go at each others throats?

Vince Young (QB)
Eric Winston (OT)
Richard Seymour (DT)
Willis McGahee (RB)
Vonta Leach (FB)
Shaun Cody (DT)
John Abraham (DE)
Quinton Mikell (S)
Michael Turner (RB)
Tim Hightower (RB)
Brandon Moore (OG)
Kerry Rhodes (S)
Nick Barnett (LB)

All of these guys are still available.

I'd take Winston, Seymour, Leach, Abraham, and Rhodes for the Giants easily.(for the right price of course)
