This isn't a bad move for the future imo.. I don't think Trent Richardson will prove to be an irreplaceable player. Lombardi probably wants CLE to join the stud franchise QB party and target Bridgewater next year, plus maybe some offensive talent

But it's kinda funny how blatantly the Browns are tanking the season.. guess they're not even gonna try this year

Wow... I mean this is a #3 pick. He might not be dominant yet, but he's shown serious flashes. I understand the principle of a GM wanting to build with his own players, but this is too far- you had a foundation to build on and you're blowing it up AGAIN? Browns fans must be furious, considering they had a nucleus here. The one thing this does give them is flexibility to draft a top QB or trade up for one if necessary. But still. Shocker.

During that draft a lot of people (myself included) felt like he was a strong reach at #3

If I'm taking a running back at #3 he better be AP status, or else give me a stud OL/DL

Yeah but the Colts pick won't be anywhere near #3.

I mean it's definitely conceivable this ends up being a good trade for the Browns.  But conceivable is not likely.  At a certain point you need to stop rebuilding and just build.

In thinking about it, the Browns will probably be in a position to draft ANOTHER QB...but this time, he'll be in the top-5 and probably not be old enough to be one of my friends  Bridgewater, Boyd, Mariota, etc. will all be viable options for them w/ their 1st pick.

Weeden is not the answer.

I've said it before, but unless your RB has a skill-set of an AD, you should not waste a 1st round pick on one. Value, ESPECIALLY at RB, can be found in later rounds. I'm going to be curious as to what they do w/ the 2nd 1st round pick.

Maybe they will seriously try to rebuild and do it the right way.

He's a running back which comes a dime a dozen, now having 2 picks in 3 early rounds can definitely make them better quicker

Good article. It still baffles me that folks are just riding with the offensive-to-native americans assumption. People want to make a stand on something where there's no stand to be made and it's not even the group that's supposedly being degraded by the team name.
Stupid article.  The ol "this person wasn't offended so no one else should be" line, like there aren't hundreds of Native Americans who HAVE made their feelings known.

It's like the classic post you see on sites like Reddit (they love that type of s**t) where someone says "Well I'm Black, and I really think that it's our own fault white people use the N word, because we use it to each other.  And we don't know how to behave anyway!"

So I went back and looked up this Mike Lombardi character.

After working for the raiders from 98-07

Browns gonna brown.

He worked for the nfl network before this gig with the browns

YES!!!! Great pickup for us!!! Gotta work on that oline, like I keep saying. I dont know what the Browns front office is thinking. Traded away your #3 overall pick after just a year?! I'm so happy!!

What I came here to say. Feel like Cleveland at least came out even in this move. At least.

You have to realize that he played on the cleveland browns, he was the only weapon on offensive they had, no passing threat means the defense stacks the box...

Very true; however, since Day 1, he's consistently had to battle through injuries. I won't pretend like I've seen ALL of Cleveland's games, but when I have tuned in...Richardson has simply been alright. Maybe he changes that in Indy. We shall see.

They screwed things up last year....

Anyone who follows the Browns - are the same guys calling the shots as far as who to draft?

I can see why the Browns are doing this.

The current regime didn't draft him.

He has shown some flashes, but he hasn't lived up to the hype and is always hurt.

The current regime didn't draft Weeden either.

The only way for the new regime to get a franchise QB is to tank.

They're obviously deliberately tanking.

Simple.

Joe Banner is making these decisions, not Lombardi.

So did the Brown's mistakenly go through that trade thinking they were getting the Colts #1 pick from LAST year?

Stupid article is an understatement. I had to check and make sure I wasn't on the Onion.

Rick Reilly has been a joke for over a decade now but this is probably a new low for him.
