So much incompetence

Yeah, Buc em, which guarantees Clowney becomes a first ballot HOFer.

I was already about to say don't say anything bad about Clowney or they'll crucify you on here.

I'm sorry I compared him to DaQuan Bowers in college who happened to lead the entire country in sacks and tackles for loss, unanimous 1st team All-American and was projected to be the #1 pick in the draft before his knee issues came up.

Guys with Trent Richardson's rookie carries and production.

Ron Dayne
Andra Franklin
Travis Henry
Errict Rhett
Trent Richardson
Sammie Smith
Ricky Williams

RB's historically who are good are good immediate, he's not worth a 1st round pick from a team who's defense got burnt by the raiders? who's numbers suggest regression, thats not a first round pick you might like?

its the most replaceable position and you got another first round pick.

I think its a good risk, i'm not a a football scouting guy, and I wouldn't know trent richardson if he walked into my living room, but for whats it worth, I think the number totally validate the decision.

Trent Richardson learned of trade to Colts on the radio

Posted by Curtis Crabtree on September 19, 2013, 12:06 AM EDT

The last thing Trent Richardson had to be expected on Wednesday was that he was no longer going to be a part of the Cleveland Browns future plans. Richardson was the third overall pick in the draft just a season ago and he was just two games into his sophomore season with the team. It had to be even more difficult to take when he learned of his trade to the Indianapolis Colts – not from the Browns, Colts or his agent – but from turning on the radio.

According to Mark Schwab of CBS-19 and 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland, Richardson said a friend called him asking if he’d been traded. He told his friend to “shut up” and hung up the phone, but when he turned on his radio he learned that he had, in fact, been dealt to the Colts.

seattles 12th man is the architect that built that place

also this is an EXCELLENT move for the browns....no way on earth

you dont pull the trigger on a 1st 3rd and 4th rounder for trent richardson

colts beyond dumb for this , atleast fix your offensive line and defense before

you make a move like this and mortgage your career on a running back

moves like this are what bult the cowboys dynasty

That's something that they can address now cause they have a legit running back to pair with Luck now, who also had weapons at wide WR. Rich may not be a franchise RB (that list OKB posted is pretty telling too), but that seemed to be a deal Irsay couldn't pass up, so i think it's a very good move. being a Texan fan though, hope the move fails miserably and the Colts are flushed down the toilet.

Luck, T-Rich, Bradshaw, Wayne, T.Y., Fleener,....sheesh. That squad could do some big things if the defense and offensive line can atleast be average.

Stay classy front office

I just wonder though...I know it's a business, but what do the Browns and Trent gain from this if he's told before or while it's going down? If the Colts renege on the deal then Trent goes back to a team he feels doesn't want him and may hold himself back from giving his all for the organization.

With how media is today, it's extremely easy for these things to leak, so they may have had intentions to let Trent know as soon as it was official, but that just happened to coincide with the media catching wind of it first. I don't know.

He caused 59 missed tackles on his touches and still had just 3.6 yards per carry. Why? He was getting hit at the line on almost every play. When your QB sucks, only completes 57% of his passes, and boasts a negative TD-to-INT ratio... defenses tend to key in on you. And yet, being the ONLY WEAPON they had, he still scored 12 touchdowns and caught 51 balls.

Go prove these 'draft gurus' and 'stat junkies' wrong, Trent.

Don't remember the last time I ever agreed with you so much.

If ever.

So I went back and looked up this Mike Lombardi character.

After working for the raiders from 98-07 :rolleyes :rolleyes

Dudes been out of the NFL for 5 years before landing this gig. :rolleyes

Browns gonna brown.

He was the 'senior talent adviser' from 98-07. His talent evaluations were definitely great, the Browns have a lot to look forward to.

Some of his 1st round gems: JaMarcus Russell, Michael Huff at 7, Fabian Washington, Robert Gallery, Tyler Brayton, Philip Buchanon, Derrick Gibson and a kicker.

:smokin

There's a theory that Saban runs his backs into the ground. Ingram, Trent, Lacy all entered the NFL with extra mileage according to these theorists.

Getting a 1st for one of the easiest position to replace ain't the worst thing that can happen

with all  the picks we have in the later rounds no reason to believe we won't find someone to replace T-Rich

Meh, not buying that. All 3 of these guys either split time with eachother or rode the bench until one of them left. All while they each marched right down the field averaging 6 yards a carry. If that's running them into the ground then we might as well write Montee Balls career off now

Good stuff right here. :pimp:

i think the deal works out well for both teams to be honest.

indy obviously gets a nice piece to their offense that's been missing for years now.

we jump on cleveland, as usual, and rightfully so. but i think this particular move does make sense. the browns pick up another first rounder, which is likely to be mid to late first round. easily can scoop up a big time WR at that spot to go with a QB that they're likely to take earlier in the round. or even if they go QB in the second like CP said, they'll have a WR to pair with that QB. they're not going to do squat this year, or even next. picking up a first rounder will help them pick up offensive pieces they need. i get faulting them on taking a geriatric QB in the draft, but this move works imo.

You can't justify a to-be-determined first round pick over a proven commodity.

Not to mention, the Browns TRADED up to get him, thus... they (the Browns, switch of management but the resources were all the same to the fans) put a lot of stock into Trent Richardson through giving up picks in 2012 and now giving up Trent for just a... pick that could fluctuate to 20 or a bit further.

It's just dumb, there's no way to justify it. It really doesn't matter that Trent is a RB and RBs are a replaceable entity in the NFL. PROVEN players are hard to come by in the NFL, even more rare proven young ones.

The Browns ****** up. Drew Carey and cast members are now running down the street in their opening sequence to burn FirstEnergy Stadium to the ground.

Waste of a commercial now  . Am I hearing right when I say the Browns FO said "we aren't tanking the season, we are looking to be playoff bound" blah blah?

If I was Richardson, I much rather be a Colt than a Brown though. But that's obvious.
