One of the most talented pass-rushers in the NFL continues to have problems with all the stuff that isn’t football.

According to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, 49ers outside linebacker Aldon Smith was arrested at 7 a.m. this morning on suspicion of DUI, according to the San Jose Police.

Smith was reportedly identified as the driver in a single-car wreck, though no one was injured.

That’s the good news. The bad news is Smith adds to a long list of off-field issues, which include being sued for an incident at his home that led to a shooting, as well as a previous DUI arrest in Miami Beach (the charges were reduced), being stabbed and being the passenger in a car which flipped trying to avoid a deer.

There’s been no word from the 49ers at this point as to whether he’ll play this week against the Colts, though that seems far down the list of priorities.

Seahawks The city of Seattle drove Aldon to drink.
Fixed.  That place is depressing.

Edit--

In all seriousness though, I hope Aldon Smith doesn't even play this Sunday.  This is at least his second run in with the law regarding a DUI and he needs to be made an example out of.  Certain things in life you just don't play with, and drinking and driving is one of them.  He could have hurt himself or worse yet hurt somebody else.  Don't even care if the team suspends him for a game or 2.  Dude is talented, but if he's not on the field then he's just wasting his talent.  He needs to get his act together and get cleaned up.

I really dont understand these athletes/celebrities .  How stupid can you be?  These are multi-millionaires.  Can you seriously not afford a driver?  Lets take it a step further.  If I was a famous athlete, I would see if one of my neighbors was an 18 year kid who was a fan.  Wouldnt it be the biggest thrill for that kid to drive me around from time to time?

Aldon.  Clean it up dude.  SMH.

Strangely I think Pitt may win as well. No real reason why, just a feeling. I hope not, it will just hurt draft status

And the D has played well the first two games. Not as dominant as an 08 season but plenty good enough. I am excited for the return of my all time favorite TE :smokin
I actually hope the Steelers win like 6 or 7 games..dont want them getting too good of a draft pick

And wtf is Aldon crashing whips that early in the morning :smh:

I'm furious at Aldon as I was when Bones got caught. Call a cab, hire a driver, have a friend DD.

I'm no star athlete, but I value my life and future. I've walked home 45 minutes from the train station many a time. After long nights in NYC or Hoboken.

In LA they have a service where they bring two people in a car, cab to pick you up. One drives you home, the other person drives your car home. Double the price, but affordable for millionaire athletes.

Aldon Smith arrested on suspicion of DUI after one-vehicle crash Friday morning.

How stupid can this guy be? He's not helping his cause...Or SF's.

 I see what you did there.

Crazy part of it all, NFL has a service that will pick up intoxicated players.

For those complaining about game manager Smith, mistake free football goes a long way.

People are complaining because it's boring as ****, not because it's effective.

I'm a fan of defense and think these pinball passing numbers are terrible for the game. Watching Alex Smith dink and dunk passes 3-5 yards down the field sucks ***. He'll continue to win games this way, but lets see what happens when the Chiefs get punched in the mouth.

Cowboys punched em' in the mouth and he couldn't do a thing about it, he was running the damn read option to get something going
It wasn't until the Cowboys turned it over twice in the 2nd half that they capitalized and sat on the clock. :smh:

They do.

They offer a car service thru the NFL security division believe

There is a car service, but I've heard that players are afraid to use it regularly because they think the drivers are company men who will report back to the teams about all the partying they do. It's not anonymous, I guess.

That was my line of thinking as well. The paper trail documented for who utilized the car service and how many times.

That's not a good enough excuse at all, they're grown men, football is a job...
I highly doubt partying in their free time being of any real relevance to GM's/Owner's unless they're out here like Sam Hurd or Aaron Hernandez.

I didn't say it was a good excuse. I'm just saying that is what is going on.

I've read that about the car services too.....players don't want teams to know how tipsy they are in the wee hours or what groups they are bringing back home.

Still, some of these dudes could take off their jewelry and that alone would pay for their own car service for damn near their entire careers.

yeah. and i mean...take a ******g cab then. what the **** is a 20 dollar cab ride to these idiots?

and if you're concerned about a cab driver blowing up your spot, you shouldn't be going out in the first place.

Okay, I'm not disagreeing with you that he's dumb, but having weed in his car doesn't clinch anything that was speculated like that.

I don't know why everyone is surprised by the Chiefs start. I remember saying to get on the bandwagon during the off-season. Is it still early? sure. But did everyone forget they were a playoff team in 2010? The past 2 years all their playmakers have been injured. With Alex Smith and Andy Reid there now this team should definitely be better than the squad they had in 2010 if they stay healthy. Especially now that the AFC is weaker.
