outside of a pick six...i thought he outplayed freeman when we played the bucs in the preseason. i know it was just preseason, but as long as they don't ask him to do too much, he might be able to stay afloat. MIGHT.

I wonder what Revis thinks about this. Dude can't get a stable quarterback situation to save his life

^ Paul, Don't you send a 5th (maybe even 4th) round pick to the Bucs today and get Josh Freeman in here in a Purple uniform?

Only 3 weeks in, maybe he plays well and sparks something and we end 8-8 or 9-7 or something. Plus, we find out if he just needed a change of scenery without wasting this whole year on guys we know aren't the answer, and don't have to put that off until next year if by a random miracle Freeman worked out. And if not, well that's a guy we can check off the list and go get someone else in 2014 whether that's through the draft or elsewhere.

Why? What if he needs an actual firm hand like Leslie Frazier rather than an actor like Greg Schiano?

You have to take risks at times when it comes to such an important position.... even if there's a bigger chance it wouldn't work out than any other result. It's a 5th round pick man, picks past the 4th round are universally overrated in the NFL.

if it's a potentially long term solution for you, then yeah you take a chance. if that's what you're saying, sure.

but i don't see him as a long term solution.

I don't either, but the Vikings 5th round pick this past year was a punter and let me put it plainly... I'm okay with taking the chance even with its longshot odds.

Yeah I know, but he's 25, and that E:60 episode two years ago made it seem like The Second Coming was upon us. A fifth-rounder is pitiful... a few years ago we cut our fifth-round LB Nate Triplett during final cuts before his rookie season. Our GM has made a living on his drafting ability (outside of Ponder, C.Cook, Gerhart :x) but that's the type of ****** up stuff that can happen with 5th round picks.

It's worth the shot. Will it work out? I'd put money on the opposite, but someone's going to find out, might as well be us for such a meaningless price.

What does me being Raiders fan have to do with fan violence? Not every Raider fan is a convicted felon who goes and beat up other fans! It happens at all NFL Games

Ive been to Oakland for a colts vs raiders game, it wasnt bad at all, the only people that were talking **** to me were these white biker guys behind me... dudes werent intimidating at all lol. But then again i guess its where your seats are and what section your sitting in, if you sit in the sky (top deck) of course youre going to be harrassed by fans because all the broke ghetto fans sit up there. you gotta sit in the field level section, its pricey but its worth it to me...

His 2010 season and that E:60 had me thinking he was Jesus on Earth. He'll make some of the best passes you've ever seen on occasion but for the most part be extremely inconsistent and inaccurate. He's REALLY ****** up mentally and I've heard a ton of bad off the field stuff that people can PM me about if they wanna know since posters on here seems to think that the National News gets their stories from NT. You aren't gonna find a better quarterback in the 5th round next year than Freeman so yeah that would be a steal. But it was definitely time to make a change in Tampa.

He's definitely gonna get traded somewhere quick though. His agent ain't gonna let the Bucs just sit him on the bench all year in his contract season.
Newton, others could be fined for Under Armour visor clips
The NFL will likely soon be exclaiming, “We must protect this sponsor!”

With Nike paying more than $1 billion to exclusively supply NFL uniforms, Nike won’t be thrilled to realize that Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and other members of the team have been using visor clips engraved with the Under Armour logo.

Chris Smith of Forbes.com discovered the violation that had been hiding in plain sight, and NFC communications director Randall Liu tells Smith that a violation of the uniform rules occurs “if the clips are not clear of all logos.”

The league’s 2013 fine schedule doesn’t specify the penalty for violation of official league licensing agreements.  In such cases, the “severity [is] to be determined by degree of violation.”

In this specific case, the Panthers also could be fined.  Team spokesman Charlie Dayton told Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer that the organization believed the clips were permissible because the logo had been blacked out.  A team source told the Observer that Under Armour clips are used because they’re easier to manage.

(Hell, that’s an even better endorsement than seeing the logos on the clips.)

Other Panthers wearing the clips, per the Observer, include running back DeAngelo Williams, defensive end Charles Johnson, and defensive end Greg Hardy.

According to Forbes.com, other players from other teams also could face scrutiny, including Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor, 49ers safety Eric Reid, and Browns receiver Josh Gordon.

It’s a delicate situation for the league, since the league hadn’t previously noticed the violations and thus indirectly ratified them.  But Nike won’t be happy that it’s investment is being undermined and it’s brand diluted.

Don’t be surprised if, in the end, the league simply tells all teams to get rid of the Under Armour clips — and that anyone who does it in the future will be disciplined.

You know, kind of like what the league office should have done with the Saints bounty case.

But Nike won’t be happy that it’s investment is being undermined and it’s brand diluted.

That is an extreme choice of words.

I would expect nothing less from the NFL and Goddell but to issue statements to remove them or be fined regardless if they ratified them or not.

Like they have nothing better to do than look for some damn clips on the visor of a helmet  :smh:

Godell is not the one watching out for these things, its someone's job to do it and Nike made a billion dollar investment.
