I clearly remember that. Cam brought a lot of the negative attention on himself. There's been mad posts complaining about black and white QBs. The point of my post was Cam was SLURPED that first year. People were going crazy over those numbers. His negative attitude is why he started to get ******* on by many.
What negative attitude??  That's what I'm talking about.  Yes, the point is that black QBs get scrutinized on their body language and statements and more quickly to be called "bad leaders" or "not hard workers" than white QBs.

McNabb's entire tenure was ridiculous with the criticism he received compared to his peers.  There were just only a few folks like Rush Limbaugh willing to actually make it explicit...

In addition, I think it's more related to his status as #1 pick than his race, but Andrew Luck has played some absolutely garbage games over his two years in the NFL, and he has never received the slightest criticism for a single action.

So now an individual W/L record in a sport like football is the newest crutch as to why Cam isn't among the best QB's.

Makes sense.

So you didn't find anything wrong with Cam's behavior his rookie year?

Steve Smith had an issue with and he's black but a few people on NT have no issue with Cam's behavior.

No, no i don't at all.  "He's not nice enough in press conferences after a loss", "his body language isn't good on the sideline", when the guy never acted out in any way.  It may not have been perfect, since he was a rookie trying to learn how to be an NFL leader, but all of those things were completely and utterly contrived and YES it has to do with his race.  Some people are threatened by quarterbacks who don't fit their traditional mold of how they should look.  Sorry, but it is a fact and there's plenty of evidence out there.  Won't take you too long to find people calling Cam a "thug" or "lazy" or plenty of other code words.

I don't know where the hell you guys are going with this race thing. His rookie year was great, he improved the last place Panthers team and everybody talked about him. Last year the Panthers were awful until the last portion of the season where they finished well, but other than that Cam was having a bad season so what did you want people to talk about?

He comes across as a really, really fake person. There's always going to be players in every sport that are talented as **** but come across as complete douches so it makes it harder to root for them. Cam is kinda that type of dude for me.

I'm Puerto Rican, my wife is black and Vick is one of my all time favorite QBs.......what is your excuse for me thinking Cam has a terrible attitude, demeanor and disingenuous behavior?

I don't know man, you tell me I guess because I don't see it.

I never claimed that every criticism of Cam or black quarterbacks is race based, but that there's a clear trend since these guys began to rise to prominence.

Astonishes me how NT still let's their opinions be set and re-set on a week-to-week basis.

Cam has always had phenomenal potential. Had a ton of holes in his game. He's shoring them up and it's correlating with Carolina breaking through and winning some games. It's been a natural progression this entire time. Cam isn't the best young quarterback and he's definitely not the worst, but the main thing is that he keeps getting better. That right there is more important than where he stands today because if he does keep improving, with his potential ceiling, he will eventually become one of the best.

edit -- a bit disappointed by the Pats hate on this board , but i guess its expected . its one thing of us Pats fans talked a bunch of **** , but for the most part we are pretty level headed on here about our team . it is what it is though

it's all good, man. if you're not getting hated on, your team is not doing it right. let em hate

To me most Pats fans are cool. Brady's crying *** and Bill's "my **** don't stink" attitude is why I don't mess them. Plus the fact that they are always on the other side of a team getting robbed it's funny to see it happen to them.

@RealSkipBayless not fair when the robber gets robbed? #itsagame

nah i get that people think the pats deserved to get screwed like that (although anyone who watches us week in and week out realizes we get jobbed just like any other team). but i get it. and that's fine. totally fair for people to be OK with it. but it's the people that actually try and justify that non call as being right that have me dying over here

What are your thoughts on this?

Andrew Luck was appointed the savior and the heir to the throne by the media, that's why.

Both have struggled / both have played like trash / etc.

But once the media gets a hold of you, your character and your perception it's a wrap.

It boggles me how people can have a problem with black QBs. The majority of the sport is black.

because they always under achieve (randall cunningham) and never win, when doug williams is the only black qb to ever win a sb there is a problem there...

Was it clearly uncatchable? I don't think so.

you can't pick up that flag unless it's OBVIOUS that the ball was uncatchable. you know, like when it sails way out of bounds or 10 yards past a receiver. when the ball lands where the contact and bear hugging started…i find it hard to rule the ball uncatchable.

but like i said earlier, we did plenty to lose that game. we didn't lose the game cause of that call. but we should have been given another chance to win it. i'm over it.
