This makes no sense at all. How does sitting out the rest of the season help RG3's development? **** is a mess.

On the flip side, how does getting hurt in a meaningless game help his development? There could be a huge conspiracy/side story to all of this or it could be the simplest answer. The team sucks, RGIII already had health concerns, what positive comes from playing him? I am interested to find out more though

Just to clarify I'm playing devil's advocate a bit here

The way I see it, if he's not injured he should play. Eli and Matt Ryan teams are finished and they're still playing. Let him work through this mess, let him get more experience. If they're that scared about his health they might as well move on from him. It's a weak approach to me.

Well just to step aside from the race debate, since we already had that in this thread. I also think Jay Cutler gets a bad rap. His teammates seem to really like him, he suffers from a ridiculous media double standard because they decided to get on him for some reason. In retrospect does anyone believe ESPN calling him "soft" for sitting out a playoff game with a serious injury was fair? And then when RG3 plays they blame him for doing the opposite

Some guys just can't win, sounds to me like you just are buying whatever narrative the media is giving. They have to make some QBs villains to have something to talk about on around the horn the next day.

that contorversy surrounding jay cutler was IMO fair when he didnt play in the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, dude phillip rivers played in the AFC CHAMPIONSHIP game with a torn acl... its a chance to go to the super bowl jay shouldve played.... i can care less what the media says honestly im just going off of what i see, and i saw RG3 wear an operation patience shirt and get fined for it, and i actually gave RG3 props for playing in that game on that toothpick he calls a leg...

So you think Jay Cutler HAD to play with a torn MCL?

I'm assuming that means you also think it was the right decision for RG3 to come back and destroy his next season?

I don't know how anyone could defend attacking Cutler for that. He couldn't play. It's great that Rivers was able to, but you don't have the right to make those kinds of judgements about someone's body as a bystander. Not to mention it was a really serious injury.

for a once in a lifetime oppurtunity to go to a super bowl, he shouldve played end of story. i have no opinion on RG3 playing too early or not, i knew he was over hyped and would eventually show his true colors, he was only going to get so far with his athletic ability until he had to actually play qb...

You don't even know if he was physically able to play.... You going to direct a football team at the highest level on a torn MCL?

stone footed phillip rivers did it, why couldnt jay do it? im not a doctor or anything, but im pretty sure a torn acl is a far worse injury then torn mcl, but im no doctor or anything...

Because every injury is different. You aren't a doctor, that's the point. You don't know if the pain was more severe or if it affected his throwing mechanics and motion in a way that made it impossible to play.

I think the smarter approach would have been to just let him sit out the first couple of games of the season. This way he would have had time to practice and ease his way back into the job. There was no need to rush him back especially with him not playing in any preseason games

i cant take arguing "player A should've played on a torn MCL because player B did" seriously

unless the team has cleared a player 100% to play and hes choosing to stay out on his own , im going to trust the team and player . im not a doctor , nor have i had even 10% of the injuries these guys sustain

Buddha: Shrugs. Not sure why you're laughing. Orakpo's a beast outside of the lost 2012 season. Washington's best defensive player. Kerrigan second.

yawn... all im saying is that if i was a bears fan i would not be to fond of jay being my qb

They both are pretty legit, they compliment each other really well. If they can just replace aging Fletcher, easily one of the top LB cores in the NFL.

Rak is buns, and Ryan is the only player on that side of the ball with any consistent production.

I don't know what games you're watching, but Orakpo hasn't made any noise in 3 years.

You need to put more effort into thinking, I think.

Im not a Washington fan at all, I watch them cause my boy is a fan but Orakpo has 8.5 sacks, 7 tackles for a loss, 1 pick  through 13 games. I would't exactly call that buns.

I feel like Orakpo Shump'ed your girl.

He was a monster his rookie season. Leveled or tapered off in 2010 and 2011, but still provided solid production. This year he's working his way back post-2012 injury.

Is this fool crazy?

"He's pretty old, so I don't know how physical he'll be,'' Elam said. "He's a big guy, but he's older. I guess when they get older they're not going to be as physical, you know what I'm saying? We're going to have to be physical, make him uncomfortable.''

Rookie Matt Elam, speaking on Calvin Johnson.

Good luck Monday Matt.

:smh:

He's not buns. But he seemingly will never live up to the top 10 expectations.

And a lot of those stats came recently, no consistency from rakpo.

Kerrigan has thoroughly outplayed him IMO.

He makes more plays, is more disruptive, the whole nine.
