But has his moments.
Sherman's been elite for 2 seasons longer than the Seahawks have had a good pass rush. Last year is the first where the pass rush wasn't an issue to be fixed. The defense was still #1 the year before, because of the secondary. 2 seasons before, the secondary was dominant as well. So what Hall is saying was already proven to be untrue. Dude is salty.
The Nnamdi comparison doesn't make sense either. Nnamdi's situation was exactly the opposite—no one threw his way because the rest of his D was so bad that it was easy to just ignore his side of the field. People mistook that as a reflection against his skill. Against Seattle opposing Quarterbacks don't have the same luxury. And yet Sherman intercepted 14% of the passes thrown his direction this past season. He led the league in picks while being the least targeted corner in football with at least 150 snaps (once every 9.2 snaps in coverage). Most interceptions (20) and most passes defended since entering the league in 2011 (61). Best quarterback rating against of any defensive back over the same time period (39.4).
So Sherman has been great. Most just haven't been paying attention since 2011. He is both an elite coverage cornerback (the best or second best in football) and the best ballhawk in football. Yes the Seattle defense is elite, but it's elite because of his play. Sherman was outstanding well before we had an above-average pass rush or LB core. Furthermore, to criticize an individual player's greatness because his team as a whole is great is a classic hater's argument. DeAngelo Hall has had a mediocre career, and he plays on a bad defense. But no one is building an elite secondary around DeAngelo Hall, and no matter who is put around him he will still be a poor/inconsistent cover corner while being an above average ballhawk. Sherman was the #1 corner on what has been the best pass defense in at least 10 years. I don't see how that could be used as evidence to criticize his play.
It actually is his fault, but not his benefit, since he is a core component of a historically dominant defense.
I actually like DeAngelo Hall as a great #2 Madden corner. Back in the day, pair him with Nnamdi on my Raiders franchise? Mmm mmm mmm picks all day
Yeah, that was him.
The way they were explaining it on the radio was 12mil for the first year and an option of 20mil for the 2nd year. If he is on the roster after a certain date next year, they will owe him a 5mil signing bonus and will cost them 25mil for next season. Don't know if that means that 5mil is from the 12mil this year thus making the 7mil that you guys are talking about or not, but either way, that pay for next year is crazy. No way they pick that tab up, right?
Oh NE of all teams def not paying 25mil to anyone, not even TB12 himself
