Man...

I love Peyton Manning but it's hard to put him ahead of Brady unless he puts another Lombardi in the case this year
 
it's totally a fair point, dland. the whole "worst team in the league" all of a sudden does scream out in that argument.

i would just add that

the colts were coming off a 10-6 year and one & done season. they went to 2-14 that year. 8 win drop off. the colts went from slightly above average to worst.

pats went from 18-1 to 11-5. 7 win drop off. the pats went from top 3 of all time to average.

there's more that goes into it...the biggest being coaching. belichick v caldwell. cassel v painter.

2-14 looks WAY worse obviously. and it is. percentage wise it's a huge drop off. but both QB's essentially were worth 7/8 wins the years they sat out.


EDIT: good point 10027 about tanking. can't prove it and no idea if it went on. but maybe a factor.

I guess. Rings aren't as important to some when it comes to ranking QBs. Brady did have top 5-10 defenses each time he won a SB so it's not like he did it on his own. I think if Brady missed next season, that team would still have 10+ wins next season. Just my opinion.

to each their own; I just hold rings in high regard because you have to win the big one but that being said...

I am rooting for Peyton to win it all this year and if he does; I give him the GOAT

no QB has EVER won a SB with two teams

anyone who thinks this year's team would have 10+ wins , win the division , and/or make the playoffs without Brady is delusional

there's no other sport where people argue about the greatest between two rivals where one has dominated the other in not only head-to-head matchups but also championships . not saying the Brady vs. Manning argument isnt extremely valid , its just interesting

Marino had much better numbers with a worse team than Montana , but the general public overwhelmingly rank Montana as a greater QB without debating bc of the playoff and Superbowl record
