His name is always brought up by people when this time of year comes around and you always seem to hear he's a great D-coordinator. The issue with his hair is nonsense. What has he really done to garner serious looks for HC? His last name?

I was shocked when I heard the the announcer the other weekend say that this year with the Saints was his first in the playoffs as a coach. Red flag right there. We can get into not having the personnel and what not, but never in the playoffs? I just don't know. I haven't looked into this much at all, but I started raising my own questions after I heard that.

As a Coordinator it's only so much you can control. This was like his first year with a good organization. He did a great job turning that saints awful defense around. I'm not saying Rob would be a HOF coach or anything but when I see some of these other dudes getting jobs I think Rob is just as qualified.
 
Wade Phillips is another dude who might deserve another shot after doing a fantastic job in Houston...  It's not like Jason Garett has elevated that Cowboys team after he left.
 
Man...For a football fan, this Sunday is just awesome. I'm usually always able to work up my excitement for these Conference Championships, but this Sunday has me juiced. :lol:

So much good stuff going on with the two matchups. Haven't been this anticipatory for a non-Vikings Conference Championship in awhile. Always get excited, but not like this.

Phillips is like Norv to me. Had multiple chances as a HC, but failed overall, yet still an outstanding coordinator. He upset me back in the day so much with how he benched Flutie for Rob Johnson just before their wild card game. They got what they deserved with the Music City Miracle though, I guess. :lol:

Like I said...I haven't looked much into it, but was still surprised when I heard it because yeah, 4 different teams, but we're talking 10 out of 11 seasons without a playoff appearance. You'd think that with all the credit Rob gets for his defensive knowledge, that a safe assumption is most of those defenses should have been above-average. No playoffs though?

It sounds overblown to myself, but there's still the question of what exactly has he shown to become a head coach?
 
Hey now, Raiders are NFL royalty when it comes to franchises. Let them be, it will turn around without Al (ironic since he used to be such a big reason for their success)

the only thing rob ryan should get an endorsement deal for is dunkin donuts or pizza hut's three cheese stuffed crust pizza
