Man of Steel (Superman Movie Thread) - June 14, 2013 - NEW Trailer pg20

You guys think Clark will still be a reporter and wear glasses? From the trailers it looks like he wanders around and fishes for a while on one of those Deadliest Catch boats, unless I missed something.

Wow that trailer is nuts. They lure you in at first with the Batman Begins good story type trailer then they drop the summer blockbuster Michael Bay **** on you later. Good movie if it all comes together as it appears.

How ******g dope would it be if he never does the Clark Kent thing. Its 2013 no one is gonna buy this N' putting on glasses and suddenly he looks nothing like Superman. I doubt it will play that way but it would be dope.

I think it's one of those things that will happen in the end to close the film, you'll see him working as a reporter and then put on the glasses to just tease it.

Remember one of the first set pics, he was riding around in a bike, clean shaven? I think that is Clark the reporter.

The themes and ideas behind their choices are clever, but how they executed and presented them is stupid. That's literary. That's something you could get away with in a book, but not in film. In a movie, where you gotta show, not tell, that looks and sounds and feels stupid. They're interesting ideas that don't quite get over cinematically. If a character in a book said, "it felt like every cop in Gotham was gone." That could work. And that escalation of the nuke from the microwave thing in Begins and the occupation from Joker in TDK...I get that.

I mean, the pit is a beautiful, inspired idea that touches on so many themes and iconic visuals from Begins, but in this film, that's too much of a reach for a lot of people. And the little details like the guy punch his back into place...that fall that should've paralyzed someone rehabbing...or how the bomb and his rehab last for months, but he gets home just in time with only hours to spare...

....

They didn't linger on the microwave machine. In, out, trouble, get there Batman, done. They focused on Scarecrow's mist. We didn't linger on the Joker's plans. Look what I did Batman! Panic. Fix it or fail. Get ready for the next thing. They focused on the constant threat of the Joker. But in TDKR...we lingered on everything, and it slowly pulled a lot of people out of the film. Matthew Modine pulled people out of it. Daggett pulled people out of the film. The passage of time. The lack of urgency. The weak, weird payoffs to scenes and plotlines in the film. Those things hurt the story we were supposed to just accept. The pace was quick and thundering, but the narrative and characters just felt a little aimless.

Things just happened, and you should get over it, because more things are gonna happen soon. And that is good and fine for regular films, but not in this series. Nolan taught us how comic book films can feel, just like Raimi did with Spider-man 1 & 2. It's about progress. Yes, Batman Begins was comic-y, but that was bridging the gap from the Batman we knew in Robin and Forever and Returns, to the "real" world, where Batman has to order his ears from an int'l manufacturer. And no, it wasn't Spider-man 3 bad. It wasn't even bad. It was just good enough, and really amazing in parts, that it's disappointing that whatever compass they had pointing them in the right direction with TDK was off this time.

Bane's voice is a great symbol for this film. If you stop rolling your eyes, get over it (no matter how stupid it feels), what he says and the ideas and themes underneath them are as great as anything in the series. And that's TDKR. Get over the ******** up front and center, and it's as great as anything underneath.

O basically summarized how I feel about TDKR, in retrospect.

The symbolism was brilliant and the action was sometimes exhilarating, but overall, the execution was terribly clumsy.

I"m not no Superman but if people aren't used to seeing me in glasses then a lot don't recognize me when I wear them. It's weird to me.

I have a feeling he does while wearing Warby Parker's.

Supes has to stay current with the nice frames. Been meaning to try them out whenever I save up some money.

I hope they don't bother with the secret identity thing. It makes sense for all the other DC heroes but not Superman. (if they do a Justice League) There's a lot of directions they can go with it but him masquerading as Clark Kent and not being recognized by anyone is silly to me.

The marketing is so good for this...I almost got a little emotional watching this man . Need a good quality version to come out

WB is stupid for not having any comic movies for next summer just think tdkr last year then this. If they woulda had something lined up for next year it woulda been perfect setup for JLA

Yeah. People are gonna so hyped for more after seeing this and I can't believe they don't even have anything on deck yet. DC/WB movie-verse :smh:

Yeah but he is Superman. It be like Lebron throwing a pair of glasses and security not letting him in the arena cause they don't recognize him. Its just too ridiculous to me.

Don't mind admitting that's how I've been throughout this marketing campaign

I had a lot of reservations about this movie back when the first info started dropping, but as the months have gone by and the more I've seen, the more they have been appeased, especially by the Fate of your planet trailer.

"You will not win, for every human you save we will kill a million more" Still wasn't sure we really needed Faora up until then, but her delivery of that one line and that scene was on point, sends chills down your spine and convinces me of how seriously they're taking it. I don't recall seeing Antje Traue in anything else but I have a feeling she could be one of the surprise performances in MOS.

And personally, I'd rather WB didn't even attempt a Justice League movie, not with this Superman at least. What with the various situations regarding actors, continuity, lesser known character introductions etc. I just feel it would get too messy. I mean JGL as Batman like some fanboys are calling for? ...that would be horrible! I don't know how anyone could possibly entertain that idea.

At this point I'd rather just see them turn Superman into a Dark Knight-esque trilogy with two good sequels and get it right.

DC/WB's animated movies are better than what they've put out in theaters.

I definitely will see this though....

a construction company would make a killing. i bet insurance on houses/buildings is crazy. not to mention the amount of fraud.(hiring a criminal to destroy ur house and collecting insurance)

The trailer they showed for this movie during Fast 6 had me so hyped!!! Can't wait, only a few more weeks (done with finals the same week as well) :pimp: :pimp:
