Man of Steel (Superman Movie Thread) - June 14, 2013 - NEW Trailer pg20

I am somewhat curious how the movie This is the End will affect MoS' box office #'s. It comes out today/tonight and if people are only set on seeing one film this week (and I know plenty who does) then that is a sale away from MoS. The film look hysterical and I will be seeing it next week for sure. I doubt it'll beat MoS for the 31 spot and I might be reaching but a lot is riding on the MoS' success so every dollar counts.

Also, must have these Mondo Posters!!!

Drag me to hell the 92 are reviews from people like us. The critics is at 61 which is just a census of what the critics think. So RT is relatively a good spot

Rotten Tomatoes isn't saying "_____ movie is 15% better than ____ movie", all it does is tell you what the critical consensus is for a movie. In that regard, it's useful.

Those Mondo posters are :smokin

The movie opened earlier today (we got it 2 days early here in the Philippines), and some of my friends have already watched it. Mixed reactions as expected.

With the movie coming out internationally, it is time for me to stay away from this thread til I see the film myself. Will leave off the continuation of the Superman film reviews though with SR:

At 62 now...

This has potential to go into 'rotten' territory once the inevitable 100-150 release-date critics chip in. :smh:

Still gonna watch and judge for myself, but seeing the rating score drop so low is kinda nerve racking.
It's not something weve seen recently for something Nolan has had his hands in.

Can't wait to watch either way!

The only reviews I ever really find myself siding with for my personal liking is Ror...and they gave it 4.5/5...so im pretty damn excited to watch this tomorrow

Thoughts on opening weekend box office numbers? I'm thinking about placing a bet at under $112 million.

Thats a pretty safe bet I think. I thought most people were predicting a $100 million for it. Getting $112 million would give it the all time June record which is kinda hard to do considering its a reboot. The somewhat mediore reviews for it so far may or may not have an effect also.

All the negative reviews tell me one thing : This movie will be awesomme!!!!

I just want the opposite of SR

I wanna see and hear cool stuff happen

All I need is a superman film with a lot of action. We know the smallville story, we know the Lois and Clark stuff, the Jor-El speech blah blah blah. Just give me the violent side of superman. If people don't like this and still complain about superman returns than its clear to see Hollywood is spoiling us...it's avengers' fault :frown: lol

This.

They always feel like they have to re-tell the backstory of superman. Stop it, we know that ****

Among the negative reviews is that the movie is bland, the Nolanization stripped Superman of what makes him him.

Hopefully i get to see "this is the end" but im kinda hoping it's sold out forcing me and my wife to watch man of steel, we gonna see it anyways but i can't imagine going to the theatre tonight and seeing "man of steel" on the marquee and NOT getting tix.

I feel like if you look at superman returns as a remake then it isn't as bad as you think it is. If super 8 is the equivalent to a tribute film to speilberg's E.T. then superman returns is that to the donner films. I mean the theme, an actor that looked like the orginal actor, and an eccentric villain played by a pretty damn good actor.

I mean the film is still bad, don't get me wrong....but it puts my mind at ease knowing that this wasn't a leap of faith that just automatically failed...singer was clearly a fanboy of those films and tried to impose his own updated style to it. for me half the film worked and the other half didn't. I think had they cast a better actress than botsworth the movie would be automatically considered better. Botsworth seems like a desperate actress trying to just get a big break and she heard "superman" and jumped onboard the project and didn't do any of the research on her character, let alone read the comics. In comparison In the new star trek movie Zoe Saldana speaks klingon and with her acting, accent and delivery could tell she really worked on her stuff and automatically i found that really attractive about her.....maybe it's different for me because i'm a film major...but professionalism in film especially when it comes to the comic films is def appreciated!
